You sat on the rooftop, legs dangling over the edge, a blanket over your shoulders. The stars above were clearer now than they'd ever been—no Genesis storm, no Rift tearing the sky.
Just stars.
Ada stepped up behind you, barefoot and quiet, then sat down beside you without a word. She offered you a small tin of chocolates she stole from Leon's supply box.
You smirked and took one.
After a long silence, Ada leaned into your side and whispered:
"You remember the first night we ran? That rooftop in the rain?"
You nodded.
"You said if we lived through all of this, we'd find peace. That someday… we'd get to be people again."
You looked at her. "I didn't believe it back then."
"Neither did I." She smiled. "But here we are. And you still make terrible coffee."
You both laughed softly.
Then, without hesitation, you reached for her hand.
She let you take it.
And together, you looked up—at the stars that no longer threatened to fall.
Just stars.
Just quiet.
