Chapter 3 - Echoes of a Fallen Name I

Commander Farsis of Z-3 walked at the front, his expression as hard as steel, yet laced with curiosity. The others followed him in silence. Their footsteps echoed on the cold floor of the military prison. Guided by the guards, they approached a damp, dark cell.

"Is this the girl?""Yes, Commander Farsis.""Why is she chained to the wall—neck and body?"

Thiven paused, considering General Sabrina's question, then spoke in a low voice."After her father's death, she tried to kill herself with anything she could get her hands on. I ordered her hands and feet bound, but then she started smashing her head against the floor. So I had her entire body chained. Maybe it's just the shock… I don't know."

Ian stepped closer to the bars, his tone impatient and authoritative."Hey, kid. Let's make a deal. Tell us about yourself, answer our questions properly, and we'll let you go. You'll be free—"

Before Ian could finish his sentence, Semira cut him off. Her voice, though exhausted from hours of crying, now carried nothing but pure hatred.

"Freedom? Even in this state, I'm more free than any of you. You're just a bunch of fools obsessed with rules, blood, and the illusion of order. Is that what you call freedom? Goodness? You can't even take a piss without filing a report. What? Did my words hurt your so-called honor?"

Ian paused, reaching for the lock, but Farsis raised his hand and spoke with a calm, unaffected tone."I like your perspective, girl. But before you throw insults, know this—your father may have been a hero to you, but to others, he was just a murderer. Like two sides of a coin. Everyone sees what they want to see. Love and hatred… they're the same."

Semira didn't respond. She just stared at him with empty eyes.

"Now tell us—who are you? Did you know about your father's experiments?"

Semira's silence wasn't from ignorance, but pain. Her heart screamed at the mention of her father.

This room isn't just cold. It's freezing. But I'm not cold. There's a fire inside me so hot, anything that touches my skin would turn to ash.Which one of you took everything from me?Which one looked into his eyes and pulled the trigger? But of course, none of you care. To you, he was just a traitor. A source of information. A file.He was my father. He read me stories. Held my hand. Told me not to be afraid when the war broke out.Now those hands are buried in the dirt. And all I have left… are trembling fingers.Everything was a lie.Peace, trust, justice…Just beautiful words to hide the cold of the trigger. You want me to talk?To fight back?To give your pathetic organization a response?I have nothing left to give.I am no longer human.I'm a tombstone. One that bears the name of a man now called a traitor.I've lost the war.The one inside me.Where my rage ends… there is only emptiness.

"I won't speak...I won't resist…I surrender…"

There was nothing in the girl's eyes. Just a void.Farsis sighed and turned away."She knows nothing. Just another soul swayed by the illusion of good and evil."

Thiven looked at the girl a moment longer."Then… is the mission a failure?""It's too early to say that," Sabrina replied calmly but firmly.

Ian muttered under his breath."So now we have to deal with this brat too? We got what we needed from her father, and were going to execute him anyway. If she has no useful info, let's just wipe out the rest of his damned bloodline. What are we waiting for?"

Semira slowly lifted her head, her eyes glowing in the dim light. Her voice was tired but sharp. The silence shattered with the weight of her words.

"Your words say enough. You're nothing but savage beasts."

Ian stepped forward, anger flaring, but Sabrina raised a hand to stop him. Semira's words had piqued her interest. The girl didn't even pause to breathe as she continued.

"Do you even see me as human? Just like how you saw my father as a monster? How ironic, because I see all of you as monsters too."

She took a breath. Her voice didn't grow louder, but colder. Unshakable.

"Did you say 'wipe out the bloodline'? Blood isn't just DNA. It's memory. Belief. Resistance. And that 'monster' you speak of… he taught me those things."

Sabrina tilted her head and stepped closer to the bars, leaning against them.

"Memories? Beliefs? If they bring nothing but darkness, death, and fear—then we'll bury them with your bloodline. Your father was a monster, and what he taught you is just a shadow of that monster. Have you ever wondered why so many people hate him, brat? You were too busy crying to ask, weren't you? Marek Zen was a murderer who conducted unauthorized human experiments. And because of him, this world is now cursed. No matter what I say, he'll still be your hero, won't he? But if your so-called resistance is written in the blood of innocents, it's not a legacy—it's a curse. Still… gotta admit, brat, you talk well."

Scott, who had been silent the entire time, finally pushed himself off the wall and stood straight.

"Enough wasting time trying to explain things to this brat. Let's just decide what we're going to do with her."
