Chapter 20 - The First Lesson

Later, when Shrek Academy revived, the new president, Tang Wulin, made a powerful call, and in an instant, many officials and military leaders who had previously been working in the government rebelled and voiced their support for Shrek. These individuals were all graduates of Shrek Academy. Although Shrek was their alma mater, they still had to serve their positions with integrity. Yet, these officials, who took salaries from the government, betrayed their posts when it mattered the most. Their actions were shameful. There's a saying, "A soldier's duty is to obey orders," but what about them? Therefore, the government's decision to take action against Shrek was partly because the country's officials had been infiltrated by Shrek. If the country continued to do nothing, it was only a matter of time before the government was sidelined by Shrek.

Huo Yuhao sneered inwardly, thinking that Shrek was just a large-scale pyramid scheme. They didn't only brainwash the students, even the teachers had been fooled into thinking they were contributing to the country and the welfare of the people. In reality, they had all been tamed into loyal dogs of Shrek.

"Teacher Zhou, I don't understand what you mean. Even if you're the homeroom teacher, you can't expel students on a whim. If you don't provide a sufficient reason, we'll report this to the academic office. Isn't that right, everyone?" Qin Long said.

"Yeah, even if you're the homeroom teacher, you still need to be reasonable!" The others who had been called out also spoke in agreement.

Seeing this, Zhou Yi sneered, "The reason, you say? When I wasn't around, you casually walked two laps, and by the time everyone else was on the fifth lap, you mixed in and still didn't finish. So, in total, you ran ninety-seven laps. Do you think I wouldn't know? You lied to your teacher, how could I let you off?"

Qin Long's face darkened, but he still protested, "Even if that's the case, you can't expel me for such a small matter!" He now understood that this teacher was trying to set an example, but this excuse was rather flimsy.

Many others shared the same thought, feeling that Zhou Yi's actions were difficult to accept. However, with her cultivation as a Soul Emperor, who would dare to speak out?

"If you're not leaving, then expect a notice of expulsion from the academy. The rest of you, go back to your dorms and change your clothes. I want to see you all in class in fifteen minutes. If you're late, don't blame me for the consequences," Zhou Yi said, not bothering to waste more words on the group. She turned and left.

Upon hearing this, some of the new students hurried back to their dorms to change, becoming more obedient now that they feared they would be the next example. Others went directly to the classroom, as running the hundred laps felt like a warm-up to them, and they barely broke a sweat, so there was no need to change clothes.

But Wang Dong was different. He had been at the front the entire time, showing off, but also sweating profusely. His mild case of OCD couldn't handle the discomfort, so when he returned, his hair was still wet because he had rushed through a quick shower.

Fifteen minutes later, Zhou Yi walked into the classroom on time. She looked around, nodding as everyone arrived. "I know that most of you are unhappy with the punishment I gave you, making you run laps and expelling those nine students, but it's okay. You'll be even more unhappy in the future. Just remember, what I say in class is a command. You must follow it, or you will be expelled. As for whether you report me to the academic office, that's up to you."

Hearing this, all the new students couldn't help but feel exasperated. "What else can we say?" they thought.

Zhou Yi didn't care about their reactions. She turned to the blackboard and wrote two big words: Attack and Defense.

After finishing, she turned back to face the students. "Now, let's officially begin the lesson. Since ancient times, Soul Masters have been classified according to the abilities of their martial spirits. There are the offensive, agility, support, food, control, and defense systems. Some Soul Masters specialize in one direction, while others balance their development. There are many different ways to train. Now, who can answer, among the different systems, which is best at offense and which focuses on defense?"

Before Zhou Yi even finished speaking, Wang Dong stood up. "Naturally, the strong attack, agility, and control systems excel at offense, while support, food, and defense focus more on defense."

When Zhou Yi heard Wang Dong's answer, her expression didn't change at all, as if she had expected it. She gestured for Wang Dong to sit down. "I'm sure most of you have the same thoughts as Wang Dong, but you're all gravely mistaken. Over four thousand years ago, the collision of the continents of Douluo brought something that completely revolutionized the Soul Master system: the Soul Engineer!"

"The emergence of Soul Engineers blurred the lines between offense and defense, as well as the direction of cultivation. In fact, it weakened the role of Soul Rings. As long as a person has enough soul power, they can use Soul Engineering to make up for the lack of power from the Soul Rings. This has caused many people to overlook the role of Soul Rings, leading to the current situation where Soul Masters in all four great empires are focused on cultivating soul power."

"Undoubtedly, this method of cultivation is very effective in the short term, especially for Soul Masters below level fifty, where the results are very obvious. But what I want to tell you is that Shrek Academy does not train Soul Masters like this. Because once you reach level fifty, those who only focus on soul power are useless."

"You don't understand, right? Let me give you an example. If you're a Weapon Soul Master and you've reached level fifty, while I am a Soul Master with an agility-type battle spirit, also at level fifty. You have a Soul Engineer capable of threatening my life, while I don't have one. Who will win in this battle?"

"The answer is simple: I will definitely win. Why? Because with my speed, you won't even have the chance to hit me with your Soul Engineer. Even if you have the best Soul Engineering tools, I can still exhaust your soul power with my speed advantage. The stronger your Soul Engineering tools, the more they will consume your soul power. Therefore, although Soul Engineers in the defense, support, and food systems can increase their attack power to that of an offensive-type Soul Master, they will never have the same combat power."

"You must remember this. Therefore, while Soul Engineers are extremely useful for boosting the defense, support, and food systems, if your physical body is not strong enough, you will always be the first to die on the battlefield. Your enemy will not spare you just because you're not a battle-type Soul Master. In fact, they'll target you even more, as you're weak in other areas while your offensive power is enhanced by the Soul Engineer. What choice will your enemy make?"

"Similarly, if I have strong physical fitness and a powerful fighting ability, then having a powerful Soul Engineer will just be adding wings to a tiger. This is the true strength."

"Blurring offense and defense, any Soul Master team can be an attacker, but improving your own quality is the best way to increase your survival ability on the battlefield. Unless one day Soul Engineers evolve to completely replace your body, otherwise, physical conditioning and Soul Ring selection will be the focus of your future training."

Zhou Yi didn't know that, a thousand years later, Soul Engineers would indeed evolve to the extent she mentioned. She couldn't imagine that the Soul Engineers she dismissed today would nearly cause the downfall of Shrek Academy in the future.
