Chapter 5 - Chapter 4 : Dungeon (2)

The four of us finally entered the dungeon.

Damn. I have a bad feeling here. I really have a bad feeling. If indeed, following the original story. That creature will appear here. A very dangerous creature.

"It's quite dark. Jennie, use fire magic to illuminate." Galena said.

"Okay." Jennie replied.

"By the way, what is your dominant magic Miss Siena?" Galena asked.

"It's water magic." Siena replied.

"Ah, if you're Sirius? Since your aura is dark, I guess your dominant magic must be dark magic hahahaha. Just kidding."

"Yes, you're right. My dominant magic is dark magic." I replied flatly.

Galena smiled.

"To be honest, I thought you were a person with a bad nature. There are many rumors about you. Isn't that right, Jennie?" Galena said.

"E-eh, yes... I've heard them a lot too."

"Well, but during this academy I've always seen you and Siena being quite close. That's what makes me curious, why Siena keeps chatting with you when there are so many bad rumors about you. I think it's quite interesting."

"To be honest, before I talked to Sirius too I thought he was like the rumors. A bad guy. But, when chatting with him somehow it doesn't feel like that. Sirius is instead, gentle. Although his gaze and tone are cold. Ah..." Siena responded. But, her face suddenly turned red when she realized what she was talking about.

"Ohoo, Siena. I think I know what it is~" Galena said.

"Shhh... Sorry to interrupt the conversation. But there's something up ahead." I said cautiously.

From the darkness ahead emerged a medium-sized, snake-type monster. Snake curse, it's a monster that's not too strong.

"For this, can I do it?" I asked.

"Do you want to fight it yourself, Sirius?" Siena asked.

"Yes."

This might be a good opportunity to test the magic I practiced. Since I have a sword too, maybe I'll try to channel my magic into the sword.

"Yes, if you want to do that. I have no problem," Galena replied. "What about you Jennie?"

"Yeah, I'm fine with that too." She said.

"Thank you."

"Take care, Sirius." Siena said.

I ran towards the monster and started pulling out my sword. While running, I channeled mana into my sword. This was my first time trying so I didn't know if it would work or not.

The monster let out some kind of poisonous blast, I jumped nimbly and avoided it. Then headed straight ahead. I swung my sword.

*Slash*

"It worked!"

Unexpectedly, I managed to defeat the monster in one slash. And... My magic sword worked. Now my sword is giving off a purple-black aura, which means I managed to pull out the magic sword.

"Wow, you did great Sirius! I didn't expect you to defeat it in one strike, especially with a sword..." Siena said with an admiring look.

"Yes. That's great, Sirius. You were able to defeat it not with magic. That sword, is it a magic sword?" Galena responded and asked.

"Wow..." Jennie was silent in awe.

"Yes, it's a magic sword. I've been studying this for a few days now, and this is the first time I'm trying it out. I didn't expect it to work." I said.

"If the swordsmen find out about this, they'll be jealous to death hahaha. Because a magician has great swordsmanship as well as a magic sword." Galena said in a joking tone.

"That's true. But, I'm ready for anything." I said.

Galena smiled slightly.

While we were joking, suddenly the ground inside the dungeon shook.

"What's wrong with the ground! It's shaking!" Jennie said in a panic.

"It looks like an earthquake." Galena continued.

"Wh-what's going on?" Siena asked in confusion while keeping her balance.

"Calm down, it'll stop soon." I said

This... Damn, looks like my hunch was right. Due to the drastic changes in the story, it's not strange that the events that should have happened to the protagonist are instead transferred to me!

This is really, really bad... The current me wasn't sure I could defeat that thing.

Not long after, the tremors stopped.

"It's... It's stopped." Siena said.

I immediately ran towards the front door of the dungeon, if indeed the events were exactly like in the original story. We... Can't get out.

"S-sirius? Where are you going?" Siena asked when she saw me start running.

"The entrance." I answered briefly.

As I expected, the incident in the original story, was very appropriate. The entrance to the dungeon, sealed by magic-coated stone.

"What... This?" Galena was surprised and confused.

"What... What... We're trapped?" Jennie was getting more and more panicked.

"Sirius, what's going on?" Siena asked calmly, although a little surprised.

"It seems that due to the tremors, the entrance to the dungeon is closed. If this was an ordinary stone, I could have smashed it quickly. But, this is coated in magic, and not ordinary magic." I said.

"So, we're trapped?" Galena asked, trying to remain calm.

"In short... Yes." I answered flatly.

Siena and Galena were calm enough, the problem was Jennie. She was so panicked, her legs were even shaking from earlier. Well, I understood her feelings, but there was no point in panicking here.

"Jennie, calm down. We'll be out of here soon." I said trying to calm her down.

"I-yeah... I-I understand." She replied.

And... Ruthlessly, not even giving us time to think. That thing... appeared. We all felt it, even though it was quite far away. That aura, it makes your sweat pour out.

"You guys... Feel it? That... What is that horrible thing..." Galena said tremblingly.

"A-ahh.... Ahh..." Jennie fell and sat on the ground, trembling.

"S-sirius..." Siena, trembling slightly though tried to maintain her composure.

"Yes. That... It's a horrible creature. And, whether we want to or not, we have to fight it. To get out of here." I said.

"What... There's no other way?" Galena asked.

"Yes. It's probably the only way." I replied.

"Come on."

The four of us moved towards the inside of the dungeon, although Jennie was still shaking but she was willing to go along.

*Deg*

The creature was in front of us. That is, the grim reaper. A darkness-type S rank monster. In the original story, the monster can be defeated easily by the Protagonist because he has his weakness attribute. Light magic. But now, what about me? I have dark magic, that doesn't mean I can't hurt it but it's going to be very difficult.

Everyone fell silent trembling, but I forced my body to move.

"Everyone! Don't be afraid. We can do it." I said trying to be encouraging.

"Siena, cover me with a buff. Galena, I'll leave the ranged attacks to you. Then Jennie, defense magic. Can you guys do it?" I took the lead.

"Yes." A simultaneous answer.

I entered my mana again into the sword, and darted forward. Now, I will use magic as well.

I swung my sword trying to slash at it, but the monster sped away nimbly. Its weapon, a very long scythe. It almost hit me.

Galena attacked him using ranged magic, but it was easily countered.

"Tch."

I tried to recite my magic, attacking her again and again. But, to no avail. She took no damage from us. We were exhausted.

But, I didn't give up. I lunged at him once more. However, this time I was hit by the monster's attack. I was knocked to the ground.

"Sirius!"

Even though my body hurt so much that I wanted to die, I still forced myself to move. Trying to avoid the next attack.

"Damn it... Now, how..." I said a little annoyed.

But then, I remembered something. How could I forget that? Another weakness of the monster, besides light magic. But, will I succeed?

Let's just try, if you don't try, you won't know.

"Siena, use wind magic for the air here." I said

"O-okay..."

Siena then chanted her wind magic,

"Wind raise"

Then, I jumped up and took Siena's magic into the magic I was casting, fire magic.

Come on, it worked, it worked, please!

The wind magic, merged into my fire magic. It worked!

Immediately, I unleashed it with full force at the monster.

"Take this, damn it."

Fire and wind, fused together. Making the fire so big that it even lit up the dark dungeon. Spraying, towards the monster. And...

*Brak*

That monster.... fell down.

"I... Defeated it..."

I fainted, having run out of mana. I was too, pushing myself to the limit.
