On the long table of the of the Lu's dinning hall sat Lu Jiangsu and his siblings – Lu Anya, and Lu Gaoshen. On the left hand side sat the daughter of Lu Anya, Lu Sue.
She was completely focused on her phone not paying attention to the older ones who chatted away.
Lu Anya was the first one to start the conversation. "I heard we had a guest, Jiangsu". She asked, taking a sip of her wine as Lu Gaoshen furrowed.
"We have a guest?" Cocking his head to Jiangsu, he questioned. "Is it a guest of yours? A business partner?"
With a smile Lu Jiangsu shook his head, taking a sip of the liquid in the glass before voicing out another word.
"You'll see..." Was all he said, leaving the two in the dark. "By the way, isn't Anna running late?"
He asked, changing the topic swiftly.
Though he didn't want the announcement of his daughter in-law to be a surprise, he didn't have a choice. Her appearance earlier was quite embarrassing even though she was the perfect fit to carry out his plans – Naive, dumb, easily controlled and quiet.
He just couldn't have Anya and Gaoshen tease him for being a human magnet of abnormal people. First his son, and now his daughter in-law?
Which was why he asked Feng Peng to make her look presentable before introducing her to the family.
"You're making me curious, Jiangsu". Lu Anya's fingers glazed around the bottom of his glass as she muttered. She understood quite well what Jiangsu had just done.
But Gaoshen waved it off with his question. "Wasn't Anna with you earlier?"
Lu Jiangsu nodded. "Hmm... She got furious when I declined her request of securing a position in the southern regional headquarter".
The southern regional headquarter was the largest segment of the Lu's enterprise. It was the headquarter their old man invested the most in and it had the highest yielding profits of the company.
In the old man's will, it was boldly written that that quarter must only be managed by Lu Jianian and Lu Jianian only. No member of their family had a say in it's affairs or management under any circumstance.
It had the largest distribution globally, real estate agendas, automobile industry and shipping. But most of all, oil drilling.
Not even Lu Jiangsu had a say in the affairs of this region except the minor segments.
Lu Anya gasped, trailing her eyes to Lu Gaoshen, then back to Lu Jiangsu, "She asked for that? That's absurd, she..."
"What do you mean absurd?". Lu Gaoshen cut her off, "We all know Anna deserves a position in any of the regions. She's qualified!" He defended.
But his words erupted a scoff from Lu Anya. "Are you mixing emotions with business, Gaoshen?" She asked."We all know you're only saying this because she's your daughter!"
"Lu Anya!" He warned but she persisted.
"Don't you dare raise your voice at me, Gaoshen, don't think I don't know your plans!"
He scoffed. "What are you talking about? You think you know everything?
His words broke series of chuckles from Lu Anya, accompanied by a smirk.
"There's no way that brat Anna could ever think of something like this all by herself . She'd rather request for a raise than a transfer!" Anya blasted, keeping that smirk on her face.
"Watch your words, Anya! What are you trying to say?" Gaoshen seethed through his teeth.
"Gaoshen..." She smiled, locking eyes with him. "It is very obvious that this was your doing.YOU planned this because YOU wanted a mole in the southern headquarters for only G*d knows what. You went behind our backs for your own profit!" She said simply, leaving Lu Gaoshen speechless.
Lu Anya was right about just one thing, the fact that he planned to use Anna as a mole and the fact that it was for his profit.
He planned to secure a position for Anna (since he couldn't sneak in as stated in the contract),so that he could get information of the company's weaknesses and maybe strike hard to secure a place there.
Also, the stock price of the southern headquarters had been skyrocketing for years. He wanted more profit by acquiring shares from a few investors through maneuver ways.
"I was trying to get information for us!" He defended.
"Says the man who tried to go behind our backs..."
"You're delusional..."
"No, you're a snake!"
" Alright, ENOUGH!"
Lu Jiangsu finally stepped in.
"Stop it, the both of you!"
His words were like ice water quenching a rising fire. "How can you do this in front of a child?"
Lu Jiangsu directed his words to Lu Sue who only turned to look at him when his attention came on her.
She was quite used to this and wasn't at all shocked, or interested in whatever they said.
"Haha, don't worry about me, Uncle, I'm good. You should already be used to their acts by now". She shrugged, getting a swift scolding from her mother.
"Shut it you brat!"
Lu Sue smirked, enjoying the look on her mother's face before poking her more.
"But didn't you also ask the same thing of me the other day, Mom?" She fired, infuriating Lu Anya even more.
"I asked you to shut it!" Anya seethed and Jiangsu sighed, directing his words to his brother.
"Gaoshen you didn't have to go through all that trouble to get an information from the headquarters. Sending Anna there wasn't even going to be possible, first of all, that was a risk".
It was a risk to them because if the family's lawyer caught a whiff of this, that would be breeching the will's contract and the consequences will apply.
"And secondly, I already told you both that I had a plan from the start. We were only lacking the tool to carry out the plan. One which I currently have in posse..."
BAM!
He was still talking when the large doors of the dining hall opened widely to accompany the glamorous Lu Anna.
She walked as though she owned the place, with her chin facing upwards and her tiny waist swaying side to side, her short mini dress flowed.
The frown she had on her face earlier had now evolved to sacarsm.
"Sorry I'm late, traffic was hell". She said simply, heading straight to the seat beside Lu Anya.
"What had been said in my absence?" She questioned, spewing nothing but absolute sacarsm in her every word as her eyes reflected the faces of everyone present in the room before pausing on the man seated the highest in the room, Jiangsu.
"Lu Anna! Where are your manners?" Gaoshen scolded, getting a scoff from her.
"Wasn't I polite enough?" She picked up the glass beside her and took a sip, taking her eyes off him in a petty manner.
Jiangsu who only stared at the bratty child sighed and mouthed. "It's alright, Anna must still be pissed from my rejection earlier".
"Now, like I was saying. I've prepared a surprise for the family... Though We're not all present, the others will be properly informed".
He said simply and continued.
"We all know our current situation and the never ending torture from the curse of the will."
"Jianian is currently still in coma and Lawyer Chan is severely on our necks, so I had been a little skeptical about my plan. I had been looking for the right one to carry it out and a very good friend of mine came to mind".
"Luckily, he was willing to comply, and my plan has been successful". He mouthed and the rest kept listening.
"We only need to wait for Jianian to be conscious to carry on with it". He finalized with a smile but the arrogant Anna wasn't ready to waste a moment.
"We have to wait even with your supposed plan? Then what's the surprise?" She inquired getting another scolding from her father.
"Lu Anna, watch your tone!" But she only rolled her eyes.
Jiangsu smiled. "I'm glad you asked, Anna".
Without wasting time, he pressed the button on the table, and in the next minute, the large doors opened widely to accommodate the housekeeper who bowed politely, mouthing,
"Miss Q'ling, general ".
The rest stared in curiosity, watching, waiting...
And from behind her, the slow sounds of high heels emerged, introducing the glamorous physique who left everyone speechless with her vibrant blue eyes.
