Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The Burning Shadows

That morning, thick fog still blanketed the forest. At the old hut they had turned into a temporary base, the atmosphere was so silent it was as if nature itself was holding its breath, waiting for the storm to come.

Jung Kok stared out through the cracked window, the old letter in his hand trembling slightly. Behind him, Yong Jin was packing up their war gear—guns, explosives, and communication devices.

Jung Joon stood in the corner of the room, gazing at a large map spread out before him. His eyes were sharp, his expression hardened.

"I've made my decision," Jung Kok finally said, his voice low but full of resolve.

Jung Joon turned. "What is it?"

"We're not going to wait for Min to strike again. This time, we strike first. We bring the war to his doorstep."

Yong Jin paused for a moment. "You know the risk. We're short on men. If he's prepared, we—"

"If we wait, he'll destroy us one by one," Jung Kok cut in. "We have no other choice."

For a moment, there was only silence before Yong Jin nodded slowly.

"I'm with you till the end," said Yong Jin.

Jung Joon walked up to his younger brother, standing face-to-face. Their eyes met—two brothers finally united in vengeance and truth.

"We end this bloody legacy. Together," Jung Joon whispered.

The Final Plan

Using data stolen from Min's files, Yong Jin found something—coordinates to a secret underground complex that Min now used as his main base. Security there was nearly impenetrable. But it was their last chance.

"We go in through the underground waterway," Yong Jin said, pointing at a detailed plan. "No cameras. But there's a pressure sensor system. We have to move simultaneously and precisely."

"Which means," Jung Joon added with a grim smile, "if one of us slips, we all die."

Jung Kok merely nodded. "Even if it costs us our lives, we move forward."

That night, the three of them and their team moved silently, slipping through the dark forest towards Min's complex. Every step was tense. They controlled their breathing, forcing their heartbeats to slow.

The Infiltration

The water channel was narrow and reeked of sewage, but it provided perfect cover. They crawled through the darkness, guided only by the faint glow of their headlamps.

After nearly an hour, they reached a hidden metal door. Yong Jin opened a small control panel and began hacking the system.

"One minute. Maybe two."

But before Yong Jin could finish, the sound of footsteps echoed from the tunnel behind them. Guards!

Without hesitation, Jung Kok gave a hand signal. They pressed themselves against the wall, holding their breath. A guard appeared, his flashlight sweeping across the area... getting closer... almost finding them.

In one swift move, Jung Joon grabbed the guard—hand over mouth, knife to throat. The guard collapsed without a sound.

The metal door clicked open with a soft sound.

"Time to move," Yong Jin whispered.

A Trap Within a Trap

Inside the complex, the atmosphere grew even more chilling. The corridors were filled with shadows, the distant hum of machines droning in the background. Yet they were unaware—Min was already waiting.

In the main control room, Min watched the monitors calmly. He had anticipated their arrival. In fact, he had left the trail himself to lure them in.

"Welcome to your grave," Min whispered as he pressed a red button.

BOOM!

The floor of the corridor where Jung Kok and his team stood exploded! Dust and debris filled the air. Jung Kok managed to push Yong Jin and Jung Joon aside, avoiding the gaping hole that opened beneath them.

"It's a trap!" Yong Jin shouted.

But Jung Kok remained calm. He had expected something like this.

"Plan B," he said simply.

They activated the backup plan—splitting into small formations, using guerrilla tactics and chaos inside the complex to cripple Min's defenses from within.

The Final Battle Begins

One by one, Min's control systems began to fail. Screens in the control room flickered and went black one after another. Min rose from his chair, furious, but the satisfied smile on his face never faded.

"Finally," he said. "I can end this with my own hands."

He picked up a special weapon—a heavy, modified pistol designed for close combat. With his elite squad behind him, he headed toward the main corridor.

Down a long hallway, Jung Kok, Jung Joon, and Yong Jin waited.

Step by step, the sounds drew closer.

Min's shadow and his men appeared from behind the red emergency lights.

Jung Kok clenched his jaw.

"This is it."
