I never ran much, but today, when my feet moved in the direction of that guy being assaulted, it accelerated. I felt like I had been running since birth. Before I could get a proper grasp on the situation, I had jumped right into the fight.
I was standing in front of that killer. His arm was extended upward, trying to generate the force to kill the guy behind me. I held his wrist with an Aikido wrist lock, which caused the knife to slip out of his hand. Initially, this lock pinned the opponent down, but I was not strong enough to subdue him. I took action while he was recuperating from the pain. I delivered a forceful strike with my foot, clobbering his gut. With my blow, he dropped to the ground.
"Who are you?" The guy standing behind me asked.
I turned my head over my shoulders and said, "Just a passerby who's turned into your lifesaver now."
"Hey! He's got reinforcement; kill him as well." A guy in front of me shouted. "Reinforcement?"
Just as I tried to make sense, a person in a white T-shirt and black jeans kicked me in the gut.
"Ouch! That hurt." I was sent flying towards the ground. I tried to find balance and stand up again. But the pain was so intense that I had to apply pressure to the ground with my fist to push myself up.
"huff-huff" I somehow managed to get up, but that was just the beginning of my suffering, and before I could do anything, I was surrounded on all sides.
"W-wait..." A hard object hit me from behind, dealing some serious damage to my ribs. I moved forward; my brain was fuzzy, and my vision was blurred. In came another attack, this time punching against my gut.
Cough...Cough...ing out blood. "It pains me; what can I do?" Barrages of all sorts from all around were stomping at me. I couldn't catch a breath, and the only thing I thought was, "Is this the end for me?"
"Damn, Klaus, to think your people are so weak, it's a shame... Well, I guess I have to kill this insolent brat before finishing you off." I could hear footsteps approaching me as I trembled in fear.
"W-wait, hey, don't do it; he's just a kid."
"I don't care, Klaus."
"Y-you have a misunderstanding. I-I don't know this guy; I'm just a high school student who lost his way here."
"Like I said, kid, I don't care," he whispered.
I could sense him running towards me from the front as I took a defensive stance to minimize his attack. "Come on, think, Jason, if he's running towards me, it means that he probably wants to come closer and attack with a sharp object."
I immediately tried to widen my eyes as much as I could, but with my vision still blurry, I still couldn't see him as a whole. With the brief data I gathered, I had to gamble against the odds.
"THUD!" A huge noise was made when my pure leather shoe made contact with his face; that took him aback a bit, and just when he let his guard down, I went for the run.
"Ah—my nose, you mor—." He was astonished, and before he could do anything, I kicked him hard. Enough to lay him down on the ground.
"My balls..." He shouted in excruciating anguish and pain. "Oh, sorry, that's not where I intended to hit."
I could see him drop to the ground while my instinct guided me to face towards the side where another goon was approaching me. He tried to pay me back with a kick, but I was smart enough to just stand still over there.
I waited for the right time he hit me, and just when he reached out his leg at me, I grabbed his foot. "Hey—let me go." The thug looked at me, limping off the ground, trying to find balance. I toyed with him a little, moving him around, and just when he tried to slip through my grip, I threw him away with all my power.
He landed behind me on the concrete wall, tagging along with another partner of his in the process. "Phew! I thought this only worked in movies."
Just when things started to seem alright for me, I found myself whacked onto the ground, hurting my jaw badly from the punch the guy landed on me out of surprise. I was soaked in blood; The impact was a lot for me, but even despite that, I tried to push myself up.
"C-come o—"
"Shut up, you piece of sh-t, you've done enough. I'll kill you with my own hands."
T-take."
"Huh...??" Thud—thud—thud, he continued, hitting me. "Did I ask you to speak...?" Thud—thud—thud, his kick got more dreadful. "Another word, and this foot wouldn't stop to break your jaw forever."
"Why, why, why— why am I always the one falling down?" My body was feeling sore, and my jaw started to hurt. He kept on stomping on me, showing no signs of mercy.
"If only I had ignored everything and just gone home straightaway, I wouldn't be facing this."
I looked towards Klaus; he was fighting somebody and looked in no way to rescue me. I wasn't able to regain consciousness; my eyes started to shut slowly as things around me started to black out. I knew this was the end for me.
"Wake up—Wake up—Jason."
My eyes opened wide instinctively. The thug had raised his foot; it was a matter of seconds to make a decision, and within a split second before I could even organize my thoughts, I made a blow to his leg closest to me, tearing his balance apart.
He fell, hitting the back of his head in the process. "H-hey, are you Alrig—" I crawled towards him to take a look; his eyes were closed, and he showed no signs of breathing.
"Oi..." I shriekingly turned my head around to grasp the person behind this voice. "You son of a b-tch I've had enough of you."
I was dumbfounded; there was no way to escape, and if I tried anything funny, a bullet was ready to be loaded into my head. It was the first time I saw a gun in my life; I was terrified.
"Hey—hey, wait, j-just listen to me, your friend might still be alive; he needs to get to the doctor right now."
"Die, you worthless piece of scum."
*BANG*
"Huh! W-what."
"What's going on? I-I thought they were just trying to rob that guy. When did all of these guns come into play, and who put a bullet through his head?.
A stream of questions flew through my mind at that moment. "Oi, oi—oiiiii!!" His body fell on me.
All of his blood was pouring down on me; it made me sick, it made me puke. I was temporarily paralyzed on the spot due to the shock; I couldn't move.
"Someone, help me," I whispered faintly as I got knocked out in broad daylight.
To be continued...
