Chapter 14 - The tragic tale of Lady Charlotte and the Treacherous Lake

Written, performed, and expertly dramatized by Lady Charlotte herself

(Age: 4¾, highly advanced, emotionally mature)

Once upon a royal Tuesday, there lived a very tiny and very beautiful princess named Lady Charlotte. She resided in a glimmering, over-decorated kingdom filled with cake, drama, and suspiciously shimmery lakes.

With tousled golden curls, sparkly eyes brimming with timeless wisdom, and a face so heart-stirring that palace servants regularly burst into joyful tears—Charlotte was, quite obviously, iconic.

One fateful afternoon, as Lady Charlotte admired her flawless reflection in the palace lake (as one does), disaster struck!

BAM!

The Treacherous Lake—rumored to be cursed by an unhinged water witch named Brenda—leapt up and swallowed the princess whole!

(Author's Note: Brenda is a completely fictional character. Any similarities to a certain sharp-tongued cook are, of course, coincidental.)

Dragged beneath the surface, Lady Charlotte battled valiantly with her miniature fists of righteousness and summoned her ancient bubble-blowing powers.

"The fish tried to pull me into their soggy empire!" she would later declare.

But with a royal snarl, she cried, "I have taxes to avoid and tea to sip—unhand me, slippery beasts!"

The fish, stunned by her charisma, let her go. Well... sort of.

At the final moment, a tearful (and rather splashy) knight dove in to rescue her. He wept. She didn't.

The kingdom exploded with relief. Trumpets blared! Honey muffins were baked by the hundreds! A guard fainted, presumably from awe (or guilt).

The King, cold and dramatic as ever, tried to act like he wasn't emotionally destroyed. But deep down? He probably cried. Alone. In his cloak room. With feeling.

Charlotte was tucked into bed like a fallen heroine, wrapped in velvet, fed five kinds of dessert, and gifted a new blanket embroidered by elves. (Or underpaid maids. Close enough.)

From that day on, she was no longer just a princess.

She was a legend.

Toddlers whispered her name reverently during snack time. Noble children reenacted her epic tale by moonlight. Even the garden ducks offered her a respectful waddle-wide berth.

Lady Charlotte: Survivor of the Lake. Fish-Fighter. Extra Pudding Awardee.

And the moral of this tale?

✨ Beware sparkly danger.

✨ Always milk your trauma for maximum snack returns.

✨ And never, ever underestimate the power of a well-timed swoon.

The End. (But only for now...)

Later, Charlotte read her story aloud to a chamber full of noble children. Gasps echoed. One child wept. Another asked for a fish-repelling charm.

The King happened to stroll by just as she read the part about him crying in secret. He grunted, "I did NOT."

Charlotte just smiled. Mysteriously.
