Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: The Calm Before the Storm

The aura that followed Zairon now wasn't wild or explosive — it was quiet. Subdued. Yet, to those who walked in his presence, it felt like standing beside a volcano that chose not to erupt.

Word spread quickly through his sovereign territory: Zairon had emerged. Changed.

At the war room, generals and guild leaders had already assembled. The moment he stepped in, the air thickened. Even seasoned warriors felt a cold sweat drip down their backs. This wasn't fear in the normal sense. This was something deeper. Primal.

Wei Lian, one of his most trusted aides, stood and saluted. "Sovereign… you've returned."

Zairon smiled faintly, the flicker of warmth making everyone even more uncomfortable. "I have. And I'm stronger now… not just in power. But in will."

The crowd exchanged glances, none daring to speak.

He glanced at the large map spread across the obsidian table — red marks on resistant kingdoms, blue for allies, gray for uncertain territories.

Then, he looked up. "Update me."

One of the guild leaders, a nervous man named Jorn, stepped forward. "Yes, Sovereign. Most of the neighboring kingdoms have either submitted or sent envoys requesting alliance."

"And the ones that haven't?" Zairon asked, still calmly sipping his tea.

Wei Lian answered this time. "The Kingdom of Aelvaris fortified their borders. They've allied with two other resistant regions. It's a combined force... they plan to defend."

Zairon nodded, setting the cup down. "Ah. So they've chosen... entertainment."

A chuckle spread in the room, but quickly died as he looked around.

"I don't want their land," Zairon said. "I want their loyalty. But if they mistake mercy for weakness... then we shall educate them."

Zhao Hu, his more impulsive commander, grinned. "Permission to mobilize?"

"Denied," Zairon said, raising a hand. "Let them watch first. Let them hear what we've built. Let the scent of progress lure them. We will march... not to burn, but to reveal."

"Reveal what?" another asked hesitantly.

Zairon's gaze turned razor-sharp. "That resistance is futile... when greatness is offered instead."

Elsewhere, in the resistant kingdom of Aelvaris...

King Daren watched the latest reports with trembling fingers. His spies had returned — or at least, those lucky enough to make it back.

"What do you mean… he just walked out? That his madness was controlled now?"

The scout looked pale. "He didn't shout. He didn't destroy anything. But his smile… my king, that smile haunts me."

The room fell silent.

They weren't facing a beast anymore. Not an unchained storm.

They were facing a man who had become something worse — a Sovereign who knew restraint… and still chose domination.

Back at the capital, Zairon stood atop the highest tower of his fortress, eyes on the horizon.

He whispered to the wind, "I gave them a chance. Now... let them dream of rebellion. I'll turn their dreams into nightmares."

Then he turned and descended the tower, already forming the next plan.

Madness tamed was more dangerous than madness unleashed.

And Zairon had just begun.
