Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Jingliu, Captured Again!

[You succeeded!]

[You now possess power comparable to a Messenger of Abundance!]

[You are the first living being to achieve such strength without relying on an Aeon. Even the Aeon of Abundance couldn't help but cast a curious glance your way.]

[The Buli revere you as their new War Chief. But once you finally sit upon the throne, you feel the crushing weight of it all—racial survival, devotion to the Lord of Longevity, external enemies, scheming allies…]

[But so what?]

[Whether Buli or Foxian—what does their life or death have to do with you?]

[You only want one thing: to keep climbing until you reach the absolute peak.]

[Everything else is just a stepping stone.]

[When the Xianzhou Alliance learned of the internal strife among the Buli, they swiftly launched a two-pronged assault using the Luofu and Yaoqing ships.]

[Upon receiving the news, you immediately ordered your hunting clans to scatter and retreat.]

[The Cloud Knights were forced to split their forces.]

[You seized the moment. Leading an elite strike team, you launched a surprise attack and wiped out several isolated Cloud Knight units.]

[Before the main force could arrive, you and your troops vanished aboard beastships.]

[Because the Buli preferred melee combat, even in space warfare they excelled at boarding maneuvers. As such, their beastships were built for speed, agility, and maneuverability, sacrificing armor and heavy weapons.]

[The Xianzhou's warships and Starskiffs, though far more advanced, were built for balance. In terms of agility, they simply couldn't compete—leaving the Buli to escape time and time again.]

[Your razor-sharp instincts guided you through the scattered Cloud Knight patrols, identifying worthy prey.]

[Soon, you locked onto your target and began to approach quietly.]

[Your chosen prey: an elite squad of the Dawnbringers.]

[Dawnbringers are the cream of the Cloud Knights—capable of surviving several bouts even against a Sword Champion. But before you, they're nothing.]

[Like a seasoned predator, you hunted freely across the stars, Cloud Knight elites falling at your hands one by one.]

[Eventually, you came across a 'big fish.']

[One of the Luofu's strongest Sword Champion contenders—Jingliu.]

Just as Solon was enjoying the simulation, a system notification popped up.

He quickly opened it.

[Linked scenario detected. Scenario difficulty fluctuating. Reward yield increased.]

Solon's expression turned strange.

He'd been simulating for so long and hadn't even seen a shadow of Feixiao. Judging by the simulation's timeline, she hadn't even been born yet—which meant the "main plot" was still hundreds of years away.

Instead of the heroine Feixiao, another heroine had barged in.

How interesting.

Seeing the words "Reward yield increased," Solon zipped his mouth shut and silently hoped for more intrusions like this one.

Closing the notification, the simulation continued.

[Jingliu was undoubtedly a powerful and troublesome opponent. You couldn't defeat her outright, but your regeneration far surpassed Hulrei's, and your body was nearly indestructible—you remained unshakable.]

[After five days and nights of nonstop battle, you finally overwhelmed Jingliu. She, along with her elite Cloud Knight squad, fell into your hands as prisoners.]

[Special event triggered. Entering Real-Simulation Mode.]

When that prompt appeared, Solon's breath caught.

Uncontrollable emotions surged up. Dark, primal desire began to swell within him.

Only then did Solon realize how much he wanted this.

"Looks like this damn system picked the right guy. I was born to be a villain."

He smirked inwardly.

Having accepted his true nature, Solon felt a wave of mental clarity—what one might call "spiritual enlightenment."

In a relaxed and almost euphoric state, he entered Real-Simulation Mode.

After a wave of dizziness, Solon re-entered the simulation world.

As his eyes opened again, a foul stench hit his nostrils.

His enhanced senses quickly identified it—a putrid blend of blood, scorched flesh, and rot.

Instead of disgust, Solon breathed it in deeply, a look of near ecstasy on his handsome face.

Then he froze.

What the hell was that…? That reaction had been disturbingly like a psychotic killer.

It had to be the simulation's influence—Buli instincts were deeply embedded, and even if this body had far surpassed their limits, the savagery had etched itself into his very soul.

After a moment to recompose, Solon began inspecting his surroundings.

Corpses—shredded and mangled—were strewn across the corridor, dismembered limbs, broken bodies, and blood-slicked walls. The carnage formed a disgusting, meaty carpet beneath his feet, squelching with every step.

It was hell. But Solon didn't feel any discomfort.

In fact, he was… used to it. Maybe even enjoying it.

Because this was his work.

Overhead, the metal plating had ruptured. Severed cables sparked and sizzled, bathing the hallway in flickering light.

Crash!

A sound snapped Solon out of his reverie.

A blue-clad female swordswoman staggered out of a pile of wreckage.

She braced herself on her sword. Though covered in wounds and bleeding from dozens of cuts, she forced herself to stand.

Even now, she faced Solon head-on with defiant eyes.

"What a stubborn woman."

Solon wore the classic villain's smirk—arms crossed, eyes gleaming with amusement.

"You've already lost. Drop the sword and surrender. You're my prize now."

"…Keep dreaming!"

Jingliu spat through bloodied lips. She leaned against the debris and slowly lifted her sword, the tip aimed directly at Solon.

His grin widened.

The more she resisted, the more fun it was.

Swish!

Solon vanished like a bolt of lightning, charging at her.

Jingliu instinctively thrust her sword—but she was far too weakened. Solon swatted the weapon aside with ease.

He seized her, ignoring her feeble resistance, and dragged her up onto a raised platform.

Even without her sword, Jingliu continued to claw at him—but to Solon's invincible body, her efforts were nothing more than a gentle scratch.

He casually flipped her around and pinned her against the platform's railing, forcing her to look down.

Below them, dozens of battered Cloud Knights stood disarmed and surrounded—encircled by snarling Buli warriors, eyes gleaming with bloodlust.
