Chapter 10 - Assassin

As nightfall cloaked the jungle in a veil of shadows, the shrine stood silent, nestled amidst the thick foliage of the Wildlands. Inside, Albion lay resting beside Eria and Wynn, their breathing calm and even. Curled up beside them was their new companion, the small but vigilant Gigobyte, snuggled against Eria's side. The gentle rustle of wind slipped through the shrine's cracked windows, whispering secrets only the night could understand.

High above, perched on the gnarled branch of a towering tree, three silhouettes sat cloaked in silence and moonlight.

The first was a female with a slender, vine-like body that shimmered faintly with the dew of the jungle. Her mouth, sharp and oddly beautiful, rested beneath glowing eyes. A twisted floral crown crowned her head like a badge of authority.

[Insert Image of Traptrix Vesiculo]

Traptrix Vesiculo narrowed her eyes toward the shrine and spoke in a hushed tone, "Remember, we get in, get the job done, and then leave. No dragging it out."

A soft voice responded, laced with hesitation, "Do we have to do this…?"

That came from the second figure—Traptrix Atypus. Her form was insectoid and crystalline, delicate yet deadly, with a shimmering carapace and fluid motion. Her eyes didn't betray fear, but there was doubt.

[Insert Image of Traptrix Atypus]

Vesiculo didn't even look back. "We have orders—from the Forest Voice. You know what that means."

The final member of the trio leaned forward, her expression both curious and calm. Her white hair shimmered under the moon, her orange eyes gleaming like twin suns. Her horns curved downward like the jaws of an antlion ready to clamp shut.

Traptrix Myrmeleo licked her lips, eyes fixed on the shrine. "Still… if we fail, this means war. The kind of war the Traptrix Nation has never dared wage. A war against the entire Dragon/Albaz Nation…"

[Insert Image of Traptrix Myrmeleo]

Atypus gritted her crystalline teeth. "He's just a child… and yet we're treating him like he's more dangerous than a Wyrm Lord."

Vesiculo finally turned to her sisters, her tone low and final. "He is. The boy is the heart of the next age. If the Forest Voice is right, then his very survival could unroot the balance of nations. We act. We finish. Or we prepare for extinction."

Myrmeleo stretched her arms and smirked. "Then let's make it quick. I didn't train for a decade just to back down because a prince is 'too cute'."

With that, the three Traptrix leapt from the branch, vanishing into the night like phantoms.

Meanwhile inside the shrine…

Gigobyte's eyes snapped open. A low growl rumbled from his throat as he stared into the darkness beyond the entrance. His scales slightly shimmered with magical energy, a silent warning that something unnatural was approaching.

Albion stirred, his senses sharpening instantly. His Light Glyph faintly shimmered on his hand as he gently nudged Eria and Wynn awake.

"We have company," he whispered.

Albion woke up Eria as Be spoke in a whisper. "Eria, wake up".

Eria opened her eyes as she spoke. "Wah, what is it Albion"

Albion looked at her as he spoke. "Are there any Defensive Glyphs on the Shrine?".

Wynn woke up as she yawned, trying to clear her eyes. "No, why"

Albion pointed at his ears as he spoke. "I hear something"

Eria looked at her as she spoke. "Are they people that have been looking for you?".

Albion slowly shook his head, his blue eyes narrowing as he focused on the subtle shifts in the wind and the faint creaks from outside. "No," he whispered, "the ones looking for me aren't this quiet. Whoever they are… they're trained. Assassins."

Eria tensed instantly, her drowsiness vanishing. "Then we have to prepare. Wynn, stay close to Gigobyte."

Wynn nodded quickly, moving next to the small dragon-like creature, who growled softly and flared with a faint aura of water magic, sensing the approaching threat.

Albion stood up, drawing a Light Sigil with his finger in mid-air. "I'll make a temporary barrier. It won't stop a full assault, but it'll give us a few seconds if they try to break in."

Eria placed her palm on the ground, whispering an incantation. Water flowed from her fingertips, seeping across the floor, forming thin lines of shimmering moisture—a Water Pulse Web, a trap that would activate the moment someone crossed it.

Wynn kept a hand on Gigobyte's head, who looked toward the entrance, growling louder now. "They're getting close…"

Then—CRACK!

A branch snapped just outside the shrine.

Everyone froze.

Outside, Vesiculo stood in front of the shrine entrance, her vine-covered hands pressing against the stone. "We're in position. Atypus, ready your net. Myrmeleo—"

Before she could finish, the shrine door exploded open with a blast of light magic. Albion stood there, hand raised, cloak billowing behind him, light swirling around his palm.

"You picked the wrong night."

Myrmeleo leapt back, eyes wide. "He's already up?!"

Eria jumped beside Albion, water forming twin blades in her hands. "Then let's give them a night to remember!"

Traptrix Vesiculo smirked, vines lashing out as she charged. "So be it, Dragon Prince. Let's see if you live up to the rumors!"

Battle had begun.

Albion spoke in his head. "Traptrix, why did have to be Traptrix, I don't even know hek to properly fight, I only have 3 spells, Light Orb, Light Push and Light Sigil".

He then looked at Mymeleo, as he spoke in his head. "If I remember correctly, her Card was know to create Trap Hole and pits, I am so thankful for playing Yu-Gi-Oh in my past life now".

He then puts a Light Push Glyph on his meet, pushed him self in the ground and came to that do Mymeleo face, as then made a Light Orb Glyph as he blasted with the light Orb, which did of damage but did force her to close her eye's, as Albion then made Light Push Glyph as he pushed her away.

Albion landed, skidding across the ground as his breath hitched. "Okay… that worked. Barely. Gotta keep them guessing."

Myrmeleo hissed as she tumbled back, legs skidding across the dirt, her pincers twitching in irritation. "Tch, cocky little prince!" she spat, slamming her hands into the ground.

Crack!

Beneath Albion, the earth began to shake — a Trap Hole forming.

Albion's eyes widened. "Shit!"

He slapped a Light Sigil mid-air and stepped onto it, launching himself sideways as the earth gave way. The trap swallowed nothing but air.

"Whew… that could've ended me."

Meanwhile, Eria was engaged with Vesiculo, their elements clashing — water slicing through vines, while the plant-woman summoned thorny roots to parry each strike. "You're not taking him!" Eria shouted, slamming a wave forward.

Vesiculo flipped back, her vines curling into a whip, lashing through the water and cracking across the ground near Eria's feet. "We're not here to 'take' him, girl. We're here to eliminate him."

Wynn was still shielding Gigobyte, but her eyes flicked over to Atypus, who had remained still this entire time, watching… calculating.

Then her arms began to glow — Crystal Webs forming, reflective and sharp, firing toward Albion from behind.

"ALBION, BEHIND YOU!" Wynn screamed.

Albion turned instinctively and slammed his hands down, making a last-second Light Push Glyph on the ground to launch himself upward. The webs tore through where he'd been standing, shredding the stone.

"They're coordinated… tactical. Just like the Traptrix cards' playstyle. Damn, I'm outclassed here!"

But he wasn't alone.

Eria shouted, "Don't think so hard! Just survive — I'll cover you!"

Albion gritted his teeth, raising another Light Orb Glyph, this time condensing it tighter, smaller — brighter. "I don't need to win. I just need to make them blink."

He threw it like a flashbang at Myrmeleo and Atypus, and the light exploded.

"NOW, WYNN!" Albion shouted.

Wynn nodded and summoned a Mini Typhoon that swirled and yanked Myrmeleo off balance while Eria tackled Vesiculo back into a tree with a water lunge.

A moment of clarity. A moment of chance.

Albion looker at the girls as he made a few more Light Orb Glyph and send them at the girls as they blasted, as he looked at Eria and Wynn.

"Grab My Arm".

Eria grabbed Gigobyte, as then she grabbed his Arms and so did Wynn as Albion got out his wing's. "Sorry if this gonna be be bumpy, I barely know how to fly".

As he flyed with the two girls, thanks to his Dragon Genes and Nature, he could handle there weigh, decently as they escape from there area.

As the Light Orb Glyphs detonated behind them in a burst of radiant flashes, Albion's wings stretched wide — shimmering slightly under the moonlight. With one firm beat, he launched them into the sky, his grip tight around Eria and Wynn as he flapped with raw instinct.

Below, Myrmeleo shielded her eyes as the final orb burst. "Tch! They're flying!"

Vesiculo cursed, her vines retracting. "Damn it… he escaped."

Atypus watched the glowing silhouette disappear into the clouds. "We underestimated him. Not just a brat — he's got some instinct."

Myrmeleo sighed. "Should we chase?"

Atypus shook her head. "No. We report back. The Forest Voice will decide our next move."

Above the forest, Albion flew at a shaky but steady rhythm, the wind rushing past their ears.

Eria, holding Gigobyte close, leaned her head slightly toward him. "You're doing great."

Wynn smiled. "Better than most dragons I've seen on their first flight."

Albion grit his teeth, pushing through the ache in his wings. "Thanks… I'm just glad we're alive. I don't know how long I can—"

His words were cut off as a sudden blast of air pressure hit them — a distant roar echoed from the east.

Eria's eyes widened. "That... that wasn't a beast. That was a warning."

Wynn glanced down. "We need to land soon. We're not just flying away from assassins — we're flying into something else."

Albion nodded, spotting a small cliffside ledge. "Hold on — I'm setting us down."

He began descending.

But the question hung in the air between them:

Who else was hunting them now?

They landed in the Cliffside, as Albion looked at them, as they looked at Albion, they stayed there for a bit, waiting for anything, but then noting came

Eria let out hee breath she eas holding. "Good we made it out safely".

Albion looked at them as he spoke. "Yeah, we did, that was close called".

Wynn then looked at him as she spoke. "So I have question".

Albion looked at her as he spoke. "What is it?"

Wynn just looked at him, her green eyes meet his Blue. "Why were Traptrix Nation assassin after you".

Albion looked at her as he spoke. "My Guess is as good as your's, I am lost Prince of a Nation not to well respected".

Eria chuckles as she spoke. "Will yeah, our Nation is not really that well respected among the 7 nation, but still".

Albion leaned back against a rocky outcrop, wings folded behind him as he stared up at the starry sky.

"Yeah… We're a nation born of war and exile. The Dragonl/Albaz Nation was never given a fair seat at the table. Too much fear, too many grudges."

Wynn sat down beside him, Gigobyte curling near her feet. "But going as far as sending Traptrix assassins… that's political. Someone ordered it, someone high up."

Eria crossed her arms, glancing at the horizon. "And the Forest Voice… she doesn't make moves without reason. If she gave the order, then someone either paid a big price or convinced her we were a threat."

Albion's brows furrowed. "Which means… someone is manipulating things behind the scenes."

Wynn added, "It could also be tied to you returning, Albion. You're a lost Prince. If you're alive—and seen with us—it could shift power. The other nations might not like that."

Eria tapped her foot thoughtfully. "And if you're being hunted by one nation… the others might not be far behind."

Albion looked down at his hands, the Light Sigils faintly glowing on his palms.

"I need to grow stronger. Three spells and wings aren't enough. Not if I'm going to survive what's coming."

Wynn gave a small, teasing smirk. "Then it's a good thing you've got two powerful mages with you."

Eria grinned, nodding. "Yeah. We'll train you. Together."

Albion smiled faintly, warmth returning to his chest. For once… he didn't feel so alone.

Eria then spoke. "So, now what now".

Wynn then looked at his sister as he spoke. "Simple, we need to go back to the one of the Elemental Kingdom".

Albion looker at them as he spoke. "Right, the 6 Elemental Kingdom Of the Wildlands, which brings me to question that I wanted to ask, why are you two outside of the Boards of the Kingdom and in the forest instead".

Eria blushed as she looked away. "We may or may not have caused a minor problem for the People".

Wynn sighed, rubbing her temples as she gave her sister a side glance. "Minor? You call accidentally flooding the Emberforge Market District with an ice storm a minor problem?"

Eria huffed, cheeks still red. "In my defense, that fire elemental was being rude! And I was trying to cool things down!"

Albion raised an eyebrow. "Literally, huh?"

Eria gave a sheepish smile. "Y-Yeah…"

Wynn turned back to Albion, more serious now. "After that… incident, we were given an unofficial 'break' from the Kingdom. So we decided to travel the Wildlands, learn more magic, and… stay out of trouble."

Eria added quickly, "It was going pretty well until someone got chased by assassins."

Albion snorted. "Hey, I didn't ask to be hunted."

They all shared a brief laugh, letting the tension ease off a little under the starlight. Then Albion looked toward the direction they came from.

"So… which Elemental Kingdom are we heading to first?"

Wynn stood up, brushing off her skirt. "The Aero Spire, capital of the Wind Kingdom. It's the closest, and they've got the best information network. If anyone knows what the Traptrix Nation is plotting—or who's pulling the strings—it's them."

Eria stood up beside her, the moonlight catching the glimmer in her water-colored eyes. "And they owe me a favor."

Albion blinked. "Why?"

Eria just smiled mischievously. "Let's just say I may have saved their princess from being swept away in a flash flood… that I also may have caused."

Albion gave her a look. "Remind me to never let you near a city's plumbing."

"Deal."

And so, with laughter and a hint of danger still lingering in the air, the trio began their next journey—toward the Aero Spire and deeper into the storm of secrets, politics, and destiny awaiting them.

As the Trio was making there way to the Capital of rrb Wind Kingdom, Albion was thinking about the Elementals Kingdom, as he spoke in his head.

"Elemental Kingdom, I don't remember that being a Deck, or Card types in the Yu-Gi-Oh Game, which makes sense, the only thing that gets close to the Elemental Kingdoms in my mind is.... The Elementals HERO deck".

Albion screamed in his head. "Ok, why is my life like this, also why instead The Elemental HERO in the Riseal Nation, they are about Fusion, why are they in the Dragon Nation, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Albion clutched his head as they walked, trying to process the chaos. His internal monologue raged like a storm.

"Okay, so let me get this straight… The Elemental HERO archetype is supposed to be a deck about flashy fusion combos and justice poses, not actual political kingdoms! And somehow, in this world, they're elemental royalty scattered across the Wildlands like some weird avatar-tier nobility?"

He side-eyed Eria and Wynn walking ahead, chatting about food. "Wynn and Eria are clearly the Charmers… but there's a Wind Kingdom? Does that mean Avian is out there somewhere, possibly ruling like a big damn hero? And what—Burstinatrix is the Fire Queen? Clayman's running defense ops underground??"

He groaned internally. "And don't even get me started on Riseal. Fusion-based Nation? What is that, a metaphor for political alliances? Are they literally fusing nobles to make treaties???"

Out loud, Albion muttered, "This world is cracked."

Eria turned around. "Did you say something?"

He quickly shook his head. "Nope! Just thinking about… uh… what if there's a thunderstorm when we get there."

Wynn raised an eyebrow. "We're going to a floating city in the clouds. Thunderstorms are their jam."

Albion internally: "I'm doomed."

And somewhere, far above the clouds, a shadowed figure with spiky hair, flowing cape, and glowing eyes watched from a high spire… the wind around him whispering "Justice shall rise…"

Albion sneezed. "Someone's talking about me…"

Wynn: "Maybe the Aero Spire princess. I heard she likes weirdos."

Eria: "You'd fit right in."

Albion, deadpan: "Ha. Ha."
