Chapter 25 - CHAPTER 6 (Part 4)

(Two hours later.)

I'm flying above the carriage, with Rem on my back, but now someone else is demanding their turn.

Ugh, I feel like a carnival ride; everyone's asking for a turn to fly with me.

"Rem, it's my turn to fly with Daniel!" Alex said.

"Alright!" Rem said.

"Treis, stop," Alex said.

Treis halts.

I land, and Rem climbs into the carriage.

"Have fun," Rem said.

Sonia and Cris are still scared, hugging their knees and trembling nonstop… It's normal to be afraid. They have families. I'm acting like nothing's wrong because my grandma's with me, and she's my only family, but they had parents, they had families.

"Our parents will think we've been kidnapped," Cris said.

"I missed my date with Erick; he's going to think I don't love him," Sonia said.

"Huh? What?" I said… disgusted.

Did she really just say that?

Judging by the surprised expressions of the others, my grandma's look of shame and sadness, and Cris's expression of disgust, yeah, she really said it.

She said it… Arghhh!! She said it!!

"W-what? N-no, I-I didn't mean to say that! S-something forced me to tell the truth! No, no! I didn't mean to say that; something made me say it! It's a lie, Da…!"

"Arghhh! Enough with the excuses!

You daughter of…! Damn daughter of…! Ugh, I don't want to insult your mom; she's not to blame for you being a bitch.

Sorry for insulting you, but you're a bitch!!

"I knew it! Arghhh! Why didn't you just break up with me instead of cheating on me?! Did you want to make me suffer that badly?! Did that bastard convince you not to dump me so he could mock me?! That son of a bitch is always screwing up my life!!"

"Dani, don't curse!" my grandma said.

"Erick's mom stole a kiss from me and tried to sleep with me even though she was married, so I have every right to call him a son of a bitch! And I escaped her because I didn't want to cheat on you! But you… You… Arghhh! Damn it!"

"D-Dani… A-again? W-when?" my grandma said.

"Again?" Alex said.

"… A few hours after my grandma's death, Cristina. She offered to pay for everything if I… if I slept with her… I was about to, but I remembered Sonia and ran. I didn't want to cheat on her… But she… She… Arghhh!! It's not worth it!! Alex, let's go!"

Alex gets off the carriage.

"Don't talk to me anymore, Sonia. Please, I'm begging you… Don't talk to me."

Alex climbs onto my back.

"Arches Nexus!"

I fly off the ground… She was the love of my life… And she fell for someone else… My heart hurts… I want to cry… Shit.

"Daniel, were you two a couple?" Alex said.

"The Daniel from the other world was her boyfriend. Though it's normal in this world, it's not in the other world. A man can only have one partner, and a woman should only have one too, but it seems she fell for someone else and cheated on Daniel."

"I was really surprised when I found out you're from another world. That makes you even more interesting, Daniel."

"Thanks."

"And I'm glad in your world you're only allowed one partner, so if I make you fall for me, I won't have to worry about you having other girlfriends."

"Huh?!"

Alex starts laughing.

"Just kidding!"

Well, I hope it stays a joke!

2:18 PM, we finally arrive.

We reach the entrance to the castle's territory. I'm not worried about getting in; after all, I have the King's kids with me. The guards will surely recognize them, and if they don't let me in, I'll force my way through!

"Here it is; there's the castle."

Some guards block our way. Fufu. Let's see how they try to stop us.

"Please present your documents!"

Wow, wow… They're very polite. I like that.

Zero and Molly step out of the carriage.

"We're the King's children; we order you to let us through!" they both say.

Hey, you could've at least said "please."

"They're alive?!"

One of the guards runs off… Oh… Wow, wow… That was easier than I thought. They didn't even doubt it a little?

"I'll inform the King!"

"Sorry, you can pass."

… Don't they suspect they could be impostors…? Oh, right, Treis is with us. They said their family used him a lot. They must've recognized him.

We enter, and I notice all the nobles staring at us strangely.

"I guess it's weird to see two people who died."

And I hope none of them are traitors; I don't want more surprises. I've had enough.

We reach the castle entrance, and the King is waiting for us. He's with a girl and some guards. The King is a young man with white hair, wearing a white suit, and he's slender. The girl is tall, with long orange hair, wearing white pants and a black blouse.

The Queen? I heard the King hasn't remarried since his wife died. One of his daughters?

Whoever she is… she scares me.

Her presence… it terrifies me… Who is she really?

"Is it really you?!" the King said, crying.

"Father!" they both said, also crying.

"My children!"

A touching reunion, a father embracing his children he thought were dead… Well, yeah, they were dead… Ugh, whatever.

We need to get out of here immediately. I need to get away from that woman. That woman is dangerous. I don't know who she is, but my own body is warning me of the immense danger she poses to me.

The farther I am from her, the better.

"But how?! I saw your dead bodies!"

"Daniel revived us!" Zero said.

"He can use our family's resurrection spell!" Molly said.

"Daniel? The Daniel from the rumors?!"

Oh. Wow, wow. I-I'm getting famous… Arghhh! The demons must already know about me!

"That's him."

They point at me with their index fingers, and the King looks at Treis. Treis, you stole the spotlight that was meant for me. Thank you! Now I'll take the chance to leave!

I tried to fly away, but my grandma grabbed my arm.

"What are you doing, Dani? You can't leave."

"Treis? What's he doing here?"

The King approaches us. Arghhh! That woman won't take her eyes off me! I missed my chance to escape!

… Escape? Was I about to escape without my grandma?

Was I going to abandon her?

… That woman… Who are you? How can you scare me so much that I'd consider escaping without my grandma?

"Treis, who summoned you?"

"It was Daniel, Your Majesty."

The King looks at me with a serious expression.

"H-hello, sir. Can I go now?"

"Can you really use the resurrection spell?"

"Yes, I can."

"But how? That spell hasn't been used in two hundred years."

"That's a secret. Can I go now?"

"This adventurer has all types of magic, Dad," Molly said.

"All types of magic?! The rumors were true?"

Uwaaah! Why did they mention that?! Now that girl's even worse!

The girl with the King gets too close to me. D-damn it. H-heart, it's just a girl; stop beating so fast!

I-it's not love or anything like that; it's terror!

"Show me your card!"

"Huh? S-sure."

I show her the card, and she examines it.

"It's real; you really have all types of magic!"

"Seriously?!" the King said, shocked.

I've got a bad feeling and step back from her.

I-I've had enough of this; I can't take it anymore!

"Lovely family reunion; I'd love to stay longer, but we have to go."

"You can't leave; I'm throwing a party to celebrate my children's return, and you'll be the guest of honor," the King said.

… My presence made this touching reunion less touching, and I feel guilty. I know I'm a weird existence, but he should spend more time with his kids instead of talking to me.

"Wow, wow. Sorry, I have plans. Bye. I have a date with food. Bye."

I approach Treis.

"Treis, take everyone to the guild nearby, please."

"No problem."

Treis leaves, and Molly hugs me.

"Daniel, don't you want to stay for the party?!"

"S-stay?"

I see the girl with the King still staring at me with a big, creepy smile.

That girl scares me… I don't know why, but I'm terrified.

I don't know if she's a danger to me, but I need to get away from her.

"No, thanks, like I said, I have plans. Enjoy your reunion. Arches Nexus!"

I fly off.

The girl with the King is stunned watching Daniel fly away, and a loud laugh escapes her.

"Hahahahahaha! Incredible, he even knows a flight spell!"

"Children, you need to tell me everything you know about this Daniel."

(POV - Daniel)

I'm flying and checking the map on my phone.

"Central Town 3? If the guild in the other Kingdom was in Central Town 1, I guess the guild in this Kingdom is in Central Town 3."

Such original names.

I head to the town.

Ugh… The names are so basic.

Well, at least they're easy to remember.

A few minutes later, I arrive. It took a bit longer because I scouted the area to get a feel for it. I'll be staying here for a while, so I need to get used to it.

I land in the town, and all the adventurers stare at me, amazed but also afraid.

It seems like a normal town… Well, normal for this world.

"Judging by the clothes, I'm sure the guild is here."

I start wandering the town, looking for the guild.

"Where is it?"

… Hmm… Nothing… No… Nothing… Ugh, I'll just ask.

I approach some men who are talking. I tap one of them on the shoulder, and he turns to me. The man is tall, muscular, bald, with a small black mustache. Yeah, definitely a nice guy. The tough-looking ones always turn out to be kind.

"Excuse me, where's the guild?"

"Get lost, kid. You're annoying."

He pushes me, and I fall to the ground. The men walk away, laughing… They're mocking me… That makes me feel bad… but for them. Fufu. Judging by appearances, huh?

"Such nice people."

"Sorry, are you okay?"

A girl extends her left hand to me. She seems kind and friendly.

"Don't worry, I'm fine."

I take her hand and stand up.

"I just want to know where the guild is."

"It's over there. It's the place with the red flag."

She points to the spot.

"Thank you so much."

I head to the guild.

"I guess all guilds have a colored flag. Ugh, I'm such an idiot."

I enter the guild and approach a girl who I assume works there.

"Excuse me, can I register here even if I'm already registered at another guild? How does the system work?"

"Of course, it doesn't matter. Your information stays the same; only the card design changes."

"Thanks. I guess I put my hand on the orb."

"That's right, please."

I place my right hand on the orb.

"Wait."

"Sure."

"By the way, what rank are you?"

"I'm…"

"Fufu. Hey, hey…"

The same man who pushed me starts bothering me. Ugh, this cliché.

"A kid like you wants to register as an adventurer? I feel bad for you. I bet you only have earth magic. You can't compare to me; I have three types of magic."

Poor thing. How cute. Just three types of magic? So adorable. Fufu.

He's trying to mock me. He's judging me by my appearance. Hahahahahaha!

Ugh… Poor guy.

"Get lost," I said in a serious, threatening tone.

"What'd you say?!" he said, angry.

"Are you deaf?"

He gets too close, trying to intimidate me.

"You need to know I'm the strongest adventurer in this guild!"

"You were."

"What'd you say?!"

Alright, back off; your breath stinks.

A card appears out of nowhere, and the girl takes it.

"It's done."

The girl reads the card.

"Daniel. What a beautiful name. Age, 16. Magic types… Huh?!"

The girl freezes. Fufu.

"Trace, what's wrong? What magic types does he have?"

"H-h-h-he has all types of magic!"

"What?!"

He grabs the card and looks at it.

"It must be a mistake!"

I snatch the card back.

"That's why I said you were the strongest adventurer in this guild… Were. By the way, I reached Rank A in a single day. My name's Daniel, the adventurer with all types of magic and the one who defeated a demon in one hit!"

This should keep people from bothering me.

I pay and sit at a table.

"Now I just wait."

The guy approaches me. Ugh, how annoying.

"I just came to apologize for my attitude. I didn't know you were so powerful. Please forgive me."

"Sure, you're forgiven. Now go."

"I want to offer you a spot on my team; I have really strong members."

"I already have a team."

They're all useless, but they're my friends… Well, calling them useless is rude, but considering what happened with the orcs… Ugh, I'd rather not think about it.

The girls enter the guild and look at me.

They head toward me.

"Why didn't we stay for the King's party?" Sara said.

"You were the guest of honor!" Alex said.

"I have a bad feeling; I felt like we shouldn't spend more time with the King."

The guy freezes when he sees my beautiful companions.

Yeah, you might think I'm a lucky guy, but it's not what you think. They are and always will be just my friends; nothing will ever happen between us.

"Sara, can you lend Cristina some money to register?"

"Sure."

"Alex, can you lend Rem some money to register?"

"Of course!"

They all go to register, even Sonia and Cris.

Ugh, I need to stop them.

"Sonia, Cris, come here."

"What's up?" Cris said.

"You're not registering. You're not coming with us on missions."

"Why?!" Sonia said.

"Sonia, calm down. Daniel's right; we don't have magic. We'd just be a burden," Cris said.

"Sorry," I said, a bit sad… I feel bad for them, but it's for the best.

"It's okay, don't worry," Cris said.

Cris is a fantasy fan.

He's probably really sad… Don't worry, Cris, I'll find a way to make you strong.

A few minutes later.

I hear the girl shout.

"You have angel-type magic?!"

I see the same group of guys who bothered me now staring at me in awe.

"Wow, wow," I said, smiling.

A tip, guys: never judge someone by their appearance; it's a rookie mistake.

A few minutes later, we can finally leave.

The registration's done. Our adventure in this Kingdom has begun. Will we face powerful demons? Mighty beasts? Evil nobles? Whatever it is, we'll win… I hope.

"Everyone's done. Let's go."
