Chapter 8 - chapter-8 King's Command

After training, I'm flying home quickly, and man, flying feels amazing. Breaking free from gravity is one of the strongest sensations of freedom one can have, I imagine, but I still rely on ki for it. I can only imagine how much better it'll be when I awaken my Viltrumite powers, the speed at which I'll fly, boosted even further by ki. I'll be able to know the universe like the back of my hand when that happens.

Lost in thought, I could already see my house in the distance. I didn't accelerate any further and, with precise control, landed gently at the front door. I couldn't sense any ki inside, so my mom hadn't returned from her meeting with King Vegeta yet. What could they be discussing?

"Could it be a mission?"

Sniff~ sniff~

"Ugh, I stink. Seriously disgusting." Time for an ice-cold shower after a day of training, one of the best things in the universe. I walked to the bathroom and stepped under the shower as the water streamed down my body. While showering, I pondered how Viltrumite powers would scale in Dragon Ball.

I know I'll become more durable, stronger, and faster, but by how much, I don't know. Will it even make that much of a difference? Because there are attacks here that can destroy planets, galaxies. Just take Gogeta's fight against Broly; they were literally tearing through reality with their punches. I know they're a level above almost everything, putting aside angels, gods, and Zeno.

"Crap, what if I get too strong for the early fights, and they're not fun anymore?" Overthinking the future won't change anything. There's no way for me to know now, so why am I even worrying? I ran my wet hand through my hair, slicking it back, my eyes burning with a hunger for more fights, no longer thinking, just knowing I had to train even harder to maybe, before I turn sixteen, be able to fight Frieza.

After a few minutes, I turned off the shower and wrapped a towel around my waist, my tail serving as a sort of belt, which was surprisingly useful. Then, I looked at myself in the mirror. My once chubby body was slowly gaining definition, making me wonder what I'd look like as an adult. I just hope I don't grow into a full adult size by eighteen, like Goku.

A few minutes earlier, in King Vegeta's palace:

In a grand hall filled with multicolored stained-glass windows, at the far end of which were stairs leading to a throne elevated above the entire room, King Vegeta sat with his elbow resting on the armrest, his head propped up by his fist, a relaxed and unworried posture.

Below the stairs, Vanie knelt respectfully, her right fist planted on the floor and her left arm folded over her left knee. Then, she asked, "What is your command, my king?"

"Your rest period is over. I have a mission for you." He said, looking down at her with a cold yet appreciative gaze, the same appreciation one has for a useful tool that would be a pain to replace.

"My king, with all due respect, we had an agreement: I would have at least six months without missions to train my son." I want to train him, she thought with complete conviction, but maintained a respectful tone as she rose from her kneeling position while speaking.

"This is an order, Vanie. There is no room for discussion here. Lord Frieza requires my best warriors for the upcoming invasion." King Vegeta stood up and descended the stairs slowly as he spoke, stopping in front of her, towering a head taller.

"Frieza… I accept, but I request that after this mission, I can truly have those six months to train my son." Vanie said, meeting his gaze without flinching.

"You will have your break, but the planet needs to fall. A squad is already assembled for you." Vanie nodded in agreement, having no other choice but to accept the mission.

"You are dismissed, Vanie. Go prepare for your mission." He then handed her a scouter. "The mission details and rendezvous point are recorded here."

Vanie simply bowed and then walked out of the throne room.

King Vegeta, watching her retreating back, frowned with irritation and thought, That wench dares to impose conditions on my order? She's lucky she's so useful, or I would have beheaded her right here.

Now at our MC's house:

'I'm pretty good-looking,' I thought, admiring myself in the mirror, wearing my Saiyan armor. How does something like this manage to look so stylish on me? I'm now one of those people who, no matter what clothes they wear, will look good anyway.

heink~~

I heard the sound of the front door opening. So, she finally arrived.

When I saw my mom walk into the house with an annoyed expression, I grew worried about what might have happened and asked, "What's wrong, Mom? Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine, it's just that I have to leave for a mission in two days." She said, her features softening after seeing my concerned face.

"Can I go with you, Mom? I'm already pretty strong, please, I can help," I blurted out quickly, trying to convince her.

"No, Leekon, you're not strong enough yet."

"But…"

"That's final. You're not going."

"I see…" Looking down, I started to think, so she's leaving. Damn it, I'm really used to her presence now, and if anything happens to her, I could help, I know it, but… I'm still not strong enough. If I were, I could go help her. Crap, crap, crap.

A corner of her mouth quirked up in a smile as she looked at me. "Don't worry, kid, I'm strong," she said, handing me a scouter. "Measure my power level." She said, smiling confidently at me.

As I watched the power level reading climb and climb, damn, it already passed 4000, and as it reached five thousand, it started to settle at 5211.

"All that, Mom? Damn, you're strong." That power level is high for a Saiyan, freaking way higher than mine. That explains the chill I sometimes feel. She's the second strongest person I've seen, besides the king currently, but in the grand scheme of things, it's nothing. I really have to get stronger.

She smiled and walked towards the kitchen, saying, "Come on, let's make something for you to eat."

I followed her, my head down, thinking about ways to get stronger faster.

===============================================================================================================

I need her gone so my protagonist can do idiotic and dangerous things in his training. When she returns, he'll be much stronger.

But that was the only thing I could think of to make her disappear for a while and still give a reason for her having to leave the scene. So, what did you think? And if possible, please comment.
