Chapter 10 - Who is Fredrick Camfrey

Every document related to her father's company had been sent to her. It had been days, and Emelia dared not leave her room, covered in files and papers; she drank one cup of coffee after another.

So much needed tending. She had not been the one to deal with the company's problems in her previous life, at least not while Mark had offered to shoulder the responsibility.

Williams and Fame Couture was the biggest in the fashion industry, with multiple branches scattered nationwide and beyond.

Emelia was not a newbie to the happenings of the business. She was not talented. She was what they call a beauty with the hands of a goddess.

Not only did her parents make and sell her designs, but she has always drawn and provided every sketch. And that was the biggest secret hidden from the ears of the world.

Emelia was too engrossed in her work, not hearing the loud knocks on her door. Frederick Camfrey has never been the patient type.

"She will be ready when I get back," he hissed, walking away.

"Young people," Nanna Lara chuckles, turning the doorknob, and, surprisingly, the door is open.

"Hey, dear," she gently calls out to Emelia, tapping her on the shoulder.

"Sweet goddess!!!" Emelia jolts, standing up.

"Child, you should eat something," Nana Lara complains. Emelia stares at her blankly. Kelvin Glen had been the only one to come to her with food and everything else.

The mansion was huge and had more occupants than just her cold husband and his PA; however, Emelia was in no mood to get to know the others.

It was only a year of marriage, and during the short time, she planned on getting everything that belonged to her parents and living her best life. Aside from doing what she liked and being happy, she had no other dreams

"Who are you?" Emelia asked gently, stepping away, her phone lying carelessly on the computer desk.

"I am Nana Lara. I took care of that brat of a husband of yours, and I only got to know he is married now." Nana Lara frowns. Emelia did not know if she should laugh or cry.

She was not interested in knowing about the man she calls her husband. Fred was his own person, and so was she. Meddling wasn't part of the contract; hence, she planned to keep away from his affairs as far as she could.

"Nana… Fred's not here." Emelia spoke, not sure why the old woman was in her room.

"If you are who you claim to be, shouldn't you know his room and not bash into mine?" She doesn't tell her that. It was too cruel and meant for the old woman, who appeared to be hurt.

"How about I call him for you?" Emelia asked, stepping over the pile of documents on the floor, when her hand was held back.

"That brat left home. I am here to see you, and you must eat something before the marriage ritual." Nana smiles, stepping out and returning with a bowl of warm porridge.

"Here, you eat now, and I will inform the stylist to come take care of the rest." Emelia takes the bowl and places it on the table.

"Why so early? Isn't the marriage ritual for another 2 hours?" Nana Lara turns to the sweet girl and pats her gently on the head.

"We have to start now; two hours, like you say, will pass within the blink of an eye, and you know your husband doesn't like waiting the most. Before being late, Emelia sighs, reluctantly nodding and sitting down to eat her food.

"Hey, slow down, don't choke," Nana Lara cautions, quickly grabbing a bottle of water and handing it over to a coughing Emelia. It's been two days, and time has moved so fast that she could not get a grip.

There was so much left to do, and coffee had been the only substance her stomach had been able to tolerate for forty-eight hours.

"Thanks." Emelia drops the bottle on the table, finishing up her meal.

"I don't have my clothes here," she suddenly asked, staring back at Nana Lara, who chuckled at her naivety.

"What type of dresses do you have back home that make you feel you don't have them here, my dear?" She questions taking Emelia by the hand as they head towards the closet.

Emelia watched in amusement when the door opened and the light turned on. Every section was neatly packed and folded. Everything was orderly and coordinated, from shoes to clothes, bags, and hair.

"This is my favorite spot, and I know you will like it too." Emelia doesn't say a word, just following Nana Lara behind. Reaching a corner of her dressing room was a well-covered area with the softest cushions and bear toys. The rug was white, and a little library stood above.

"When the designer came in here, Fred specifically asked for this. I learned from him that you like reading." Nana Lara chanted happily.

Emelia did not understand why the woman spoke so casually about a man as cold as Fredrick Camfrey, like he was some toddler on his best behavior.

To her, the man was the coldest and meanest. He was full of himself, and she could never see him in the same light as the nana before her.

Emelia did not want to break the pitiful woman's heart; hence, she settled for keeping her thoughts to herself. One year was all she had to put up with before the clock hit, and she would once again be single and free as a bird.

"Yeah…I do like reading," Emelia replies reluctantly. She walks over, reaching out for the books, and unexpectedly, every book on the shelf was not only from her favorite authors but also limited editions of books she had been hunting down for years to no avail.

Her body shivered and her hands trembled at the hard covers well fitted under the softness of her palm; only one question haunted her… one she did not have the answer to.

"Who is Frederick Camfrey?"
