Chapter 66 - Chapter 65: The Last Bonds

The Arbor hovered in deep space, its wooden hull steady amid the silence of the cosmos. Earth was now a faint blue dot in the distance, their duty to the planet fulfilled. The Void Leviathan was a fading presence on the holo-display, its course redirected beyond the solar system, but new threats loomed.

Emma stood at the viewport, her gaze fixed on the endless void ahead, stars reflecting in her hazel eyes. Her voice was quiet yet resolute as she addressed the team. "Earth has been given another years of survival," she said, the weight of relief and resolve evident. "They're ready to stand on their own now."

Lucas stepped beside her, his presence steady as his blue eyes met hers. "They are," he said, his tone warm. "You did that, Emma. You gave them hope."

Emma's lips curved into a faint smile. "We did," she said, turning to him.

"You could've," Lucas replied, his voice gentle, as his hand brushed hers. "But I'm glad I was here."

Markus approached, his usual sharpness tempered by an uncharacteristic softness in his expression. "I… I was wrong," he said, his voice low. His gray eyes met Emma's. "You were right to stay. The array, the recruits—they worked. Earth's safe."

"Thank you, Markus," Emma said, her voice quiet, a small smile touching her lips. "I needed your push to keep me grounded."

Markus nodded, his tone softening further. "You're a hell of a leader, Emma. I'm with you—whatever comes next."

Emma's gaze hardened with determination. "Good," she said firmly. "Because we're far from done."

Chloe joined them, her green eyes bright despite the challenges ahead. "The Touched," she said softly, "Lila and the others—they'll help Earth rebuild. They're already organizing efforts."

Emma nodded, her tone warm. "They'll do great. Earth has a future now."

Gray crossed the room, his dark eyes steady as he spoke. "I'm ready for what's next," he said simply. "Wherever we're going, I'm with you."

"Glad to hear it," Emma said, her smile returning briefly. "We'll need you, Gray."

Liam broke his silence, his voice measured but clear. "The array stabilized Earth's signals," he said, checking readings on his console. "But it's also highlighting energy anomalies near the galactic edge. We've got more to deal with."

Aisha stepped forward, urgency in her tone. "I've been tracking the Void Leviathan's trajectory," she said, pulling up a detailed holo-display. "It's moving toward the Andromeda Galaxy. But that's not all—the Quantum Schism is active again. Energy spikes are forming across its boundaries."

Emma's breath quickened as she turned to Aisha. "The Quantum Schism? What does that mean?"

Aisha exhaled, her voice tense. "It's a tear in reality—a distortion in space, time, and matter. The K'tharr feared it as much as the Void Leviathan. If it reaches Andromeda, it could destabilize entire systems. Maybe the whole galaxy."

Markus took a step closer, his voice sharp with urgency. "We need to go after it. If the Void Leviathan and the Quantum Schism collide, we're looking at devastation on an unimaginable scale."

Emma squared her shoulders, resolve hardening in her voice. "We've protected Earth. Now, we protect the galaxy."

Lucas hesitated, his tone softer as he rested a hand on her shoulder. "Are you sure about this? Earth's safe. You don't have to take another fight so soon."

Emma met his gaze, her hazel eyes blazing with conviction. "I do. We're the Seedkeepers. This is what we do."

Lucas's faint smile returned, his voice carrying quiet support. "Then I'm with you. Always."

Emma turned to Aisha, her voice steady. "Set a course for Andromeda. We'll deal with the Void Leviathan and the Quantum Schism. Together."

"Course locked," Aisha said, her fingers flying over the console. "We'll reach Andromeda in a few days."

Emma faced the viewport one last time, her gaze lingering on Earth as it faded into the distance—a small blue beacon of hope surrounded by infinite darkness. Pride mingled with determination in her chest. They'd given Earth a future, but the galaxy still needed them.

As the Arbor accelerated into the void, its engines hummed in rhythm with the gentle pulse of the WoodDust within its hull—a quiet reminder of the power they wielded and the responsibility they bore.
