Chapter 13 - Chapter 12 – Slow Is Still Forward

The day thinned.

The city didn't slow down—it just changed gears.

Jun sat at the edge of the plaza, brewing one last cup before packing up.

His hands moved automatically now:

Grind.

Bloom.

Spiral pour.

The motions were steady.

Still flowing.

But inside, something else stirred.

[System Log: Passive XP Gained: +5 – Consistent Craft Execution]

The numbers ticked up quietly.

The system approved.

The world didn't complain.

Still—

Jun couldn't shake it.

A small, restless voice whispering:

"Is this enough?"

He watched the crowd pass by.

Suit jackets.

Shopping bags.

Tourists snapping photos.

Children crying for sweets.

All of it moved faster than him.

Bigger.

Louder.

Brighter.

He earned enough today to eat.

Maybe even stash a little aside.

But it wasn't a fortune.

It wasn't a crowd chanting his name.

It wasn't a café with velvet chairs and marble counters.

It was a battered cloth on a public step.

A chipped dripper and a secondhand kettle.

And still… he poured.

[System Reminder: Artisan Path Detected – Progress Slow but Stable.]

The system didn't push him.

Didn't dangle shortcuts.

Just acknowledged the grind for what it was.

Jun folded the cloth carefully after the last brew.

Packed the kit with deliberate hands.

He slipped the few extra Notes into his inner jacket pocket.

They weren't heavy.

But they were earned.

Fully.

As he left the plaza, a soft notification flickered:

[Hidden Buff Activated: Small Step Spirit – Minor Boost to Daily Endurance]

Not a skill.

Not a flashy title.

Just a whisper from the system that slow wasn't wrong.

It was still forward.

He smiled to himself.

Small.

Real.

Enough.
