Chapter 2 - misfortune of Lion

As a gentle smile lit up her face, the Girl beckoned Acetash to her side, a twinkle of adventure in her eyes. "Now then, come with me," she said, her voice filled with an enticing promise. With a flick of her wrist, Breaker appeared, casting an ethereal glow around them. The air shimmered as a swirling portal materialized before them, its vibrant colors swirling in a dance of magic and mystery. Without hesitation, Acetash grasped the Girl's hand, their hearts pulsing with excitement and trepidation. Together, they stepped across the threshold into the unknown, leaving behind the familiar world as they were enveloped by the portal's embrace. What awaited them on the other side—hidden realms, ancient secrets, and challenges that would test their courage—remained a thrilling enigma, but together, they felt ready to face whatever adventures lay ahead, united by the unbreakable bond forged in that moment of bold choice.

As Acetash's eyes adjusted to the dim light of the unknown location, he felt a strange mix of wonder and confusion. "Where am I? Is this the new world we're entering? No, it mustn't be..." he muttered, trying to make sense of the swirling colors and fantastical shapes that surrounded him. Just then, he realized they had landed in a luminous glade, vibrant with flora that seemed to pulse with life and energy. Suddenly, he found himself face-to-face with a group of captivating girls, their laughter echoing through the air like music. One of them, her hair flowing like the lightest breeze, turned toward him with wide eyes and exclaimed, "Oh my... my… speak of the devil! Like always… In a time. Oh, you brought us a guest?" Her playful tone hinted at a deeper connection to the place, igniting Acetash's curiosity even further. The Girl beside him smiled knowingly, as if she had orchestrated this encounter, and he couldn't shake off the feeling that he was about to embark on a journey woven with secrets, enchantments, and friendships that would change his life forever.

Rias's proclamation echoed in the enchanting glade as she looked at Acetash with a determined smile. "He will be my new knight. Akeno, what do you think?" Akeno turned her attention to Acetash, her eyes narrowing slightly as she took in his striking features and the quiet confidence radiating from him. She felt a flutter in her chest; there was something undeniably attractive about him, a charm that beckoned her curiosity like a magnet. "Hmm," Akeno mused, tilting her head thoughtfully, "I can see the potential." Her gaze lingered on him, the playful spark in her eyes hinting at the mischief she loved to create. It was clear that Acetash had piqued her interest, and in this mystical world where alliances and destinies intertwined, this initial attraction could mean so much more than mere infatuation. As Rias confidently declared her intent to claim him as her knight, Akeno couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of a captivating tale that would entwine their fates together far beyond the glade.

Akeno's gaze lingered on Acetash, admiration evident as she observed his noble visage and commanding presence. "He's formidable for being a knight; just look at him," she commented, her eyes drinking in every detail, her heart racing slightly. "He looks almost regal, but he's not a Devil yet… is he?" Rias nodded, a confident smile gracing her lips. "Yes, that's why we are here." Acetash, still processing the surreal situation, felt a rush of determination as he absorbed their words. After a moment of contemplation, he found his voice, "I accept." A wave of warmth filled Rias's expression as she regarded him with a soothing smile. "So let's get ready," she said, her voice smooth as silk. As she spoke, the air shimmered with energy, and the magical seal began to unfurl around them, glowing with intricate symbols, hinting at the profound journey that lay ahead.

As the last echoes of Rias's incantation faded into the air, the atmosphere surged with magical energy, swirling around them like a luminous storm. The seal completed its activation, and a radiant glow enveloped Acetash. Akeno, Rias, and the others watched with rapt attention, excitement and anticipation crackling in the air. The very essence of magic pulsed around him, setting the stage for what was to come.

But then, something unexpected happened. Chaos erupted within Acetash as a sharp pain shot through his back, causing him to fall to his knees. Gasps escaped the lips of his companions, their expressions a mix of shock and concern. "Acetash!" Akeno exclaimed, stepping forward, her heart pounding in her chest. The pain intensified, unlike anything he had ever encountered, as if an ancient force was breaking free from deep within him.

Suddenly, with a magnificent burst of energy, 24 magnificent wings burst forth from his back, unfurling in a breathtaking display of shimmering feathers that caught the light. Each wing was adorned with intricate markings that twinkled like stars, a tapestry of ancient magic woven into their very fabric. Akeno's eyes widened in disbelief, her admiration for him deepening as she took in the stunning sight. "This… this is incredible!" she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. Rias and the others stood transfixed, the tension thick in the air as they tried to comprehend the transformation unfolding before them.

As Acetash steadied himself, the pain began to fade, replaced by an overwhelming sense of power coursing through him. "I can feel it!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with awe and confidence. "I'm similar to the systematic magics... This is incredible!" He stood tall, the wings giving him an aura of unmatched strength. "I wish to wield the best weapon ever!" His expression turned fierce, determination alight in his eyes as he forged forward in this newfound identity. "I want… Alregalon!"

The mere name of the weapon resonated with ancient power, a relic said to hold the essence of the strongest knights. Rias exchanged a knowing glance with Akeno, both sharing the acute realization that this was not just a transformation; this was the awakening of a legendary potential.

"Alregalon…" Rias echoed thoughtfully, a smile breaking across her face. "It must be a symbol of your bond with this new power." Acetash's wings shimmered, as if responding to her words, and he felt an undeniable connection to the weapon he sought, one that promised to elevate him to unprecedented heights.

Akeno stepped closer, her curiosity piqued. "How will you summon it?" she asked, her voice rich with intrigue. "Do you know the incantation?"

Acetash shut his eyes for a moment, letting the magic swirl around him, feeling its rhythm and pulse in the depths of his being. "I can feel it," he said slowly, almost reverently. "It's as if Alregalon exists within me, waiting to be called forth."

The group stood around him, united and ready to support him on this new journey. Rias took a step back, her expression serious yet proud. "Then let's make this happen. Together."

With each word shared, the atmosphere shifted, igniting the magic that resided within Acetash. The wings behind him pulsated, resonating with the promises of strength, friendship, and adventure that lay ahead. As the group prepared to summon Alregalon, they knew they were about to embark on a path that would shape their destinies forever. The air crackled with anticipation as they set in motion a quest that would test their strength, resolve, and the bonds between them all.

Rias's eyes widened as she processed Acetash's words, the confusion settling over her like a heavy fog. "What did you wish for?" she asked, her voice quivering with a mix of curiosity and anxiety. But before he could respond, astonishment washed over her. "Oh my gosh… what happened? You got a—nothing , even you losing your wings?!"

Acetash's eyebrows shot up in bewilderment. "Excuse me? Why nothing happened?" The disbelief in his tone was palpable, his confusion mirrored in Akeno's shocked expression. "What the hell?" she exclaimed, glancing between Rias and Acetash, trying to piece together the chaotic puzzle in front of her.

"What is this sorcery?" Acetash wondered aloud, his heart racing. Yet, despite the chaos surrounding him, a peculiar sensation coursed through his veins. "I feel this special energy inside myself," he mused, feeling a soothing warmth envelop him. "It's… it's giving me a sense of calm," he said, bewilderment spilling from his lips. "Why am I feeling so calm? I must be anxious! Not this damn calm!"

As they debated the strange occurrence, a whirlwind of thoughts surged through Acetash's mind. He had anticipated explosive power, a thunderous manifestation of his desire for Alregalon, yet here he was, cloaked in tranquility instead. His companions exchanged perplexed glances, their expressions a mixture of concern and curiosity. Akeno stepped closer, her brow furrowed. "Maybe… maybe it's not about the weapon itself?" she suggested hesitantly. "Perhaps it's about what this energy signifies for you?"

"What do you mean?" Acetash asked, his voice steadying as his focus shifted to his friends.

"Well," Rias interjected, her tone thoughtful, "sometimes, achieving something profound isn't accompanied by fireworks. It could mean you've tapped into a deeper strength—one that reflects your true self."

Acetash frowned, processing her words as he felt the gentle pulsing of energy within him. "But I was ready for a grand display," he countered, frustration enveloping him. "Instead, I'm standing here like… some calm sage."

Akeno chuckled softly, breaking through the tension. "Maybe the universe is trying to tell you that your journey is more about internal growth than external power. You're not just a knight; you're something more."

Acetash's eyes softened as he absorbed their words. Maybe he didn't need the weapon to prove himself. Maybe what he felt was the power of his own potential—the strength rooted deep within him. As their conversation flowed, an understanding blossomed, and his initial disappointment waned.

"Alright then," Acetash said, a newfound resolve radiating from him. "If this calm is what I have to work with, I'll embrace it. Let's discover where this journey leads us."

With their spirits rekindled by Acetash's determination, the group stood together, ready to face whatever challenges awaited them. The air thrummed with a new energy, an undercurrent of excitement and mystery shrouding their next steps. Wherever the path may lead, they knew they would uncover not just the secrets of magic but the essence of their own spirits, entwined in a journey of growth, friendship, and discovery.

Rias gently touched Acetash's arm, her warmth radiating through him as she looked into his eyes with reassurance. "Don't worry," she said softly, her smile unwavering. "Even if you don't have any special abilities, we will take care of you, my dear." Acetash couldn't help but soften at her words, feeling a flicker of hope spark within him. Akeno nodded in agreement, her usual playful demeanor replaced by sincerity. "We'll make sure you are safe; you don't need to worry," she added, her voice steady and comforting.

"Besides," Rias continued, a gentle confidence lacing her tone, "at least you have your skills." Acetash forced a smile, shrugging off the tension. "It's okay… I don't care," he sighed, exasperation lacing his words. "Damn about it, whatever." However, deep down, uncertainty clawed at him like an unwelcome shadow.

"That's the spirit!" Akeno exclaimed, her eyes gleaming with encouragement. "You've got a fighting heart!"

Rias stepped closer, her gaze unwavering. "Remember, we're all family—the one and only. We support each other no matter what," she affirmed, her words weaving a bond that felt unbreakable. Just as the warmth of their camaraderie enveloped him, Koneko appeared out of nowhere, her frosty demeanor contrasting sharply with the warmth of the moment.

"I see… so this guy is our new companion," she remarked dryly, crossing her arms as her typical bitterness spilled forth. The air shifted, and the friendly atmosphere dampened slightly as Koneko's bluntness cut through the affirmations shared moments before.

Acetash raised an eyebrow at her, intrigued but also slightly annoyed by her skepticism. "Yeah, and what of it?" he replied with a hint of defiance. "I'm not here to be a burden; I'll prove myself!"

Koneko regarded him coolly, her expression unreadable. "Prove yourself how? By being just alright?" she quipped, her gaze unwavering. "You should probably know that we actually expect more from our companions."

A tense silence fell over the group, but Rias quickly stepped in to soothe the brewing storm. "Koneko, now's not the time," she cautioned gently. "We're trying to lift him up, not bring him down."

"Hmph," Koneko huffed, a slight twitch at the corner of her mouth hinting that she couldn't fully dismiss him either. "Just know that talk is cheap. Actions speak."

Feeling the weight of Koneko's words and the support of Rias and Akeno, Acetash took a deep breath, determination bubbling beneath the surface. "Fair enough," he replied, a spark igniting in his heart. "Let's see what I can do then. I'm ready to show you all that I'm more than just 'nothing'."

Rias smiled, her pride in him shining through as Akeno piped up again, "That's the attitude! Together, we'll figure this out. Besides, Koneko might just surprise you with some support of her own... eventually."

With the bonds of friendship strengthened among them, Acetash realized that perhaps he wasn't starting with 'nothing' after all. There was so much within him waiting to unfold, and with his newfound family by his side, he felt ready to embrace whatever awaited—even if it meant learning from a cold, bitter cat-girl along the way.
