"Well then, how can I gain true essence points?" , Alvin asked after knowing that he could use them to enhance the proficiency of his techniques.
Goldy blinked, "Master has to absorb pure true essence from essence coins or from other sources where you can find purified mana essence."
"As for the body true essence, it will have to be absorbed by eating and digesting the meat of beasts containing mana in them."
Alvin nodded, he mostly understood what Goldy was saying.
"Master, now Goldy is going to ask the golden page to transfer the bow technique to you, are you ready?" Goldy suddenly asked when she saw Alvin deep in thought.
Alvin nodded absentmindedly, "Um... if it is possible, why not?"
Just as Alvin finished speaking, he felt a large amount of new memories flooding his mind. It felt as though he could remember every part of the Overload Bow technique like a computer.
"This is awesome, it feels as though I am the one who had written this technique," Alvin muttered in disbelief.
Alvin then said to Goldy, "My hands are itching for some action, let's go to the outskirts of the Heavenly Wood Forest to see if we can find some decent prey."
Goldy nodded in response.
Both of them exited the sea of consciousness.
Alvin picked up his bow and the simple quiver he had crafted by hollowing out one side of a thick piece of bamboo. He slung the quiver, which held three arrows, over his left side and secured the bow on his right. With everything in place, Alvin began walking toward Heavenly Wood Forest.
On the way, the villagers who met him either mocked or laughed at him due to his outfit, but Alvin walked forward without giving them a second glance.
After about half an hour of walking, Alvin reached the entrance to the Heavenly Wood Forest which surrounded the entire Heavenly Wood City and other small villages like Blue Water Village at its center.
He saw many large posts erected at the boundary of the forest engraved with many magic formations which kept magic beasts away from the city.
Fortunately, this was only a tier-two forest. If it had been of a higher tier, these simple formations wouldn't have been nearly enough to hold back the powerful monsters lurking within.
A tier two forest will only have either beginner realm or master realm magic beasts. If any magic beast or cultivator higher than master realm entered a tier two forest, then their cultivation would be suppressed to the peak of the master realm by the spirit of the forest.
So Alvin wasn't worried about being crushed to death by the mere presence of a powerful magic beast in the forest. It wasn't an exaggeration either, as with each level, a cultivator's strength will increase tenfold.
By this estimate, if a ninth realm beast were to simply sneeze, Alvin's puny body would be destroyed like being blasted by a cannonball.
"Let's enter" , taking a deep breath he walked past the formation pillars into the forest.
As he walked forward, he spotted many fellow villagers from Blue Water Village among the people entering or leaving with game from the forest. Alvin ignored them and kept walking.
Though people looked curiously at Alvin because of his young age and crudely crafted weapons, no one spoke up. They minded their own business, as no one would help you just because you were a little boy. In this place, if you dared to venture into the forest, your life was in your own hands.
After reaching a large clear area at the outskirts of the forest with no one around him, Alvin stopped with a worried expression on his face, "Why haven't I found a single animal so far? If I have to go any further, it will start the territory of magical beasts."
The most common animals found on the outskirts of the Heavenly Wood Forest were wolves, rabbits, and wild chickens. These creatures, much like ordinary people, had yet to form a magic core, so they dared not venture into the depths of the forest and instead populated the edges.
So far, Alvin had not seen a single one of these animals. However, he had seen plenty of hunters returning with their game in hand. From this, Alvin could only conclude that he lacked the experience of a seasoned hunter when it came to locating them.
Goldy squinted her round eyes and said, "Don't worry master, Goldy has found where those animals are hiding."
"Where?" Alvin's eyes lit up.
Suddenly the compass tattoo on the left side of Alvin's neck began to glow with a faint purple hue, and the next second Alvin felt as though his vision changed to thermal vision. He could see different beasts around him hiding nearby.
"Holy hell, it's an ambush..." Alvin cursed before running back the only way he did not find the presence of any beasts.
As Alvin started running, bushes rustled and the sound of growling could be heard. At the next second, six wolves with bloodshot eyes started chasing Alvin from all sides. They had been looking for a perfect opportunity to strike until now. When they saw their prey running away, they chose to attack immediately.
But what shocked these wolves was the fact that the frail-looking human kid they were following this far was running even faster than beasts like them.
"Awoooo..."
Alvin could hear the howling of wolves behind him, so he gritted his teeth and started running forward at full speed. Alvin was too focused on escaping that he did not even notice the abnormal speed and stamina displayed by his own body.
"Damn it... these bastards," Alvin gritted his teeth in anger. A ruby-red glow pulsed within his purple eyes at this time, giving him a bloodthirsty appearance like that of a demon.
"Master, behind you," suddenly Goldy called out to Alvin. Due to their connection, Alvin understood what Goldy meant in an instant. Without hesitation, he did a backflip while swinging his bamboo bow at the head of the wolf behind him.
"Thud..." With the impact of the blow, the wolf's head burst open and it went sliding for some distance before twitching on the ground in pain.
All the wolves halted in their tracks when they saw this, but Alvin, caught in the peak of an adrenaline rush, didn't stop.
Without hesitation, he drew one arrow after another from the bamboo quiver on his back and fired at the three larger wolves closest to him in quick succession, using the Overload Bow technique.
