Chapter 3: A Job Offer
Mia sighed to herself, "It's been two months now, I've been searching for a job but nothing. I hope I'll receive good news from the last interview I went for." Mia thought while sighing to herself.
"For how long will i continue with all this part-time jobs,so tiring and frustrating"She complained about her part-time jobs while hitting her legs on the floor, feeling frustrated and tired.
I can't keep on talking to myself like this, i look like a crazy lady" Mia shakes her head
"I better do something productive with my time than sitting here talking crazy," she said with a frowning look on her face. As she stood up, her phone rang. She looked at the unknown caller ID and picked up the call.
"Who is this"She thought to herself. "Unknown caller ID,i wonder who this is" she thought to herself while raising her eyebrow.
"It better not be one of those part-time people calling me, or else " she said while pointing one of her figure at her phone looking annoyed.
"Hello, may I know who I'm speaking with?" Mia asked calmly.
"Am calling from VEE Corporation "The lady on the other end introduced herself. Mia got confused and whispered to herself, "VEE Corporation ?"
The lady on the other end did not get any reply and got confused but she still talked professionally. "Hello, am i speaking to Mia Hero's" the lady asked.
Hearing the lady's voice brought Mia back to reality. "Yes, I'm Mia Hero's" Mia replied blinking her big eyes wondering what is going on. The lady congratulated Mia, "Congratulations to you, Miss Mia Hero's. You passed the interview and have been offered a job."
Mia was dazed and couldn't speak. The lady waited for a while, when she did not hear anything from the other side she continued her words which brought Mia back to reality again. "Please make sure you come to the HR department on Monday to complete the formalities of your acceptance and start working immediately. Lateness will mean refusal for the job, do you understand, Miss Mia Hero's ?"The lady asked Mia.
Mia who was in a daze due to how flabbergasted she was began stammering due to excitement. "Ye...ye...ye..yes, yes, I understand,i will be on time on Monday.
Tha....tha....tha...thank you, thank you very much for telling me such great news." She jumped around excitedly as the lady hung up.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I got a job!" Mia screamed loudly. "I got a jobbbb, I got a jooooooobbbbbbbb, yeaa, yeaa, yeaa,yeaa,yeaa,I'm so happy." She ran to the balcony. "Thank you lord,thank you for alway being there for me,thank you" she said with tears in her eyes thanking God for the good news with a smile on her lips.
Immediately she started preparing for Monday. When she was half way done with are preparation Mia decided to message her friend Rebellious Cutie. "Guess what?" Susan replied immediately, "Whatsup?"
"I finally got a job, I'm an employed citizen now, no more part-time job for me girl"Mia said with joy.
"OMG wifey,I'm so happy for you."Susan congratulated her with a big smile on her face.
"Thank you" Mia reply with a happy emoji.
Then Susan asked curiously, "Which lucky company employed you?" Mia replied, "One of the biggest companies in the UK." Susan asked again, "Wow,wow,wow,wow,my wifey am so proud of you,but what is the name of the company?" Susan asked with so much excitement.
Mia began teasing Susan, "Why don't you take a guess?" She said acting all mysterious. "Come on, tell me. If I could guess, I would have done that. I don't know, so tell me." Susan pleaded with Mia acting all pitiful with her. "Plssssss,pretty plsssss"Susan kept on begging
"Can you not even guess this little thing,jeez you are such a bore." Mia said disdainfully but still decided to tell her.
Mia finally revealed, "It's VEE Corporation, can you imagine?" Mia asked excitedly.Susan was thrilled that she screamed, "Haaaaaaaaaaaaa, VEE Corporation? Like the VEE Corporation? Are you for real right now?" Susan asked with so much excitement on her face.
"Yes it the VEE Corporation, do you know how happy i am right now." Mia said "I can feel my heart beating fast due to how excited i am" She said with a big smile on her face.
Then Mia remember something,
"Ha,can you image how foolish i am, do you know when the company called telling me i have been accepted, i got so confused because i could not remember going to VEE Corporation for an interview. You can blame me though,it been weeks i went for the interview and i did not receive any news from them so i taught i got rejected. When i got a call from them today, i was so lost, i kept on wondering VEE Corporation, when did i go for an interview in VEE Corporation, i was so lost and speechless that i did not know what to do or say. It was only after a while i finally remember that i did go for an interview in that company.I was so flabbergasted that i could not believe it. Can you image how foolish i can be" Mia said shakeing her head due to her foolishness.
"How could you forget such a thing, you are really a fool. A big one in fact" Susan said to Mia disbanfully. "But look, you are now an employee of VEE Corporation. Hahahahaha, I'm so excited for you."
Mia laughed, "Yes,i am.But is it not really funny how can i forget such a thing,it totally slipped my mind, what a fool" she said slapping her head.
Susan began teaseing Mia, "I just realized that I have a very weird friend, what have you been thinking about to forget such an important thing. Let me guess, the husband and children you left at home right."Susan laughed while teasing Mia.
Mia responded, "What do you know? You know nothing." She said with irritation.
"Anyways i still have some preparation to do, so i won't talk to you any longer, do take care of yourself" Mia said
"Okay, take care to, bye" Susan said .
As bid each other farewell telling each other to take care of there self and they will chat later.
On Monday, Mia woke up early and started preparing for her first day of work. She left her apartment at 7:00 on the dot. From the moment she left her house until she arrived at the company, the smile on her face never once faded.
When she arrived at the company, she went to the reception hall and informed them about her position as the secretary of the CEO. "Hi, I'm Mia Hero's, I've been appointed as the new secretary of the CEO of the company. Can you direct me to the HR department? I have some formalities to handle," she said to the lady at the reception hall.
"Oh, you must be the newly appointed secretary Mia Hero's, we've been expecting you," the receptionist said and called one of their colleagues to show her the way. "She will show you the way to the HR department," she said with a professional smile on her face.
"Thank you," Mia said to the receptionist, following the colleague. As they walked to the elevator, Mia introduced herself, as they would be colleagues now. "Hi, I'm Mia Hero's," she said with a smile on her face.
The colleague smiled back and introduced herself. "I'm Piper, Piper Charles. Nice meeting you," she said. "Same here," Mia responded.
They started chatting about the company, with Mia asking questions about the company. Piper was so nice that she answered each and every question Mia asked. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough time, as they reached their destination.
"Thank you so much," Mia said. "You're welcome. If you need any help, you can meet me," Piper said to her. "I will," Mia replied.
"Bye," Piper said with a little smile on her lip. "Bye bye," Mia also said with a smile.
