Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Slaughter

At this moment, Winston, who was playing a word game in the Continental Hotel, muttered after seeing the message on his phone:

"The show is about to begin."

At the hotel reception desk, Charon saw that the many assassins in the executive hallway all looked at their phones at the same time.

Meanwhile in New York, upon receiving the same message, a large number of assassins began heading toward Chinatown.

Even Smith Doyle and Fox, who were with John Wick, also received the bounty message from the Continental Hotel on their phones.

After a glance, neither Smith nor Fox seemed to care much.

---

At that moment, John Wick had finished stitching his wound and was searching the doctor's medicine cabinet for painkillers.

He rummaged through for a while, but couldn't find what he needed among the countless bottles and jars.

Seeing John still rummaging, the doctor, out of respect for Mr. Wick, spoke up:

"Top shelf, to the right."

"Yes, take four."

"That stuff will help you stay alert and numb the pain."

Fox gave the Chinese doctor a surprised look — she didn't expect him to help John Wick at such a critical moment.

Following the instructions, John quickly took out the pills and swallowed them.

Then the doctor walked to the cabinet, opened a drawer, and took out a pistol. He said:

"Mr. Wick, they won't believe I stopped treatment on time."

John looked at the doctor and replied:

"But you did stop."

The doctor held the pistol and continued:

"They'll find out."

John turned around, adjusted his clothes, and asked:

"Find out what?"

Fox answered:

"That this doctor told you where the painkillers were."

The doctor nodded:

"Yes, that's right."

Hearing this, John Wick understood.

The doctor, holding the pistol, walked up to John and handed it to him, then walked over to a chair and picked up some gauze to prepare for first aid.

John took the pistol, walked to the doctor, and asked:

"Where should I shoot?"

The doctor lifted his shirt and pointed:

"Here, below the floating rib. Don't hit my—"

Bang!

Before he could finish, John raised his hand and fired a shot — hitting the exact spot.

"Ahh!"

The doctor screamed in pain and slumped into the chair.

As John was about to put down the pistol and leave, the doctor called out:

"Wait!"

"One shot might not be enough."

Then he unbuttoned his collar and exposed his shoulder:

"Just don't hit my—"

Bang!

Once again, before he could finish, John fired.

"Ahhh!"

The doctor groaned in pain once more.

John stepped forward, picked up his suit jacket, and turned to leave.

Looking at John Wick's back, the doctor called out:

"Good luck, Mr. Wick."

John stopped, turned back to the wounded doctor, and said:

"Thank you, Doctor."

Without another word, he walked out.

Fox looked at Smith Doyle and asked:

"You think he'll make it to us in time?"

Smith stared at John Wick's silhouette and replied:

"Before stitching the wound, he had no chance. But now, the odds just went up."

---

John Wick stepped onto the rainy street. Despite the weather, the streets were still bustling. He began running.

At a roadside fish stall, a fishmonger was working. His underling came out and spotted John.

"Boss, that's him!"

The fishmonger took off his apron and threw away his hat:

"Let's go make some money."

But another group also noticed John and immediately chased after him.

John entered a building and ran up the stairs, locking the door behind him.

Inside, he found a gun store and tried to open the glass cases, but they were all locked. He smashed one, grabbed a revolver, and began loading it.

Just then, the fishmonger and his men arrived.

Bang!

The first guy through the door took a bullet to the head and died instantly.

John quickly changed position. The fishmonger and his men stormed in.

Hearing their footsteps, John struck first. His shot didn't hit but managed to knock a weapon out of someone's hand.

A brutal melee ensued — 2-on-1, but they couldn't overpower him.

Noticing the knives in the display case, they all smashed the glass and grabbed blades.

Clang! Clang!

"Ahh!"

With weapons in hand, casualties quickly followed. But more assassins charged in.

John had just killed one when two more appeared.

Using the knives like throwing daggers, he took them out one by one.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

The battle was fierce. John Wick killed 9 assassins in total in this round.

As he exited the building, he was once again targeted by more killers.

Smith and Fox entered the aftermath of the fight.

Smith looked at the bodies and asked Fox, who had a combat power detector:

"You saw all their power levels. What do you think?"

Fox looked at the corpses and replied:

"Combat power isn't everything."

"On this path, some enemies had the same power as John, some were a bit lower."

"But after so many battles, only John is still alive."

Smith nodded and added:

"In a fight, raw power isn't the only factor."

"Determination, timing, decisiveness — they all matter."

"One misstep can decide the outcome."

"But once your power level rises enough, it becomes overwhelming."

Fox looked at Smith and asked:

"How high must it be to start ignoring small-caliber bullets?"

Smith thought for a moment and answered:

"At 9 points of combat power, you can basically ignore them."

Fox, at 6 points herself, realized how tough the path ahead was.

"Keep tracking John Wick's next move."
