Chapter 4 - Incident

Cafeteria

Kiyomi sat down next to a Class 2D Senpai. He saw her face and he blushed upon seeing her. His thoughts were exclusively dedicated to wondering how she could be so cute.

"Senpai could I perhaps have the old tests for the midterms from you?"

"Well... um... I can't give it to you for free."

"How much?"

"10, 000 Private Points and one other thing."

"What other thing?"

"Your...um... your number."

"My phone number? Um sure."

The Class D Senpai took out his phone as Kiyomi filled in her number. She then took out her phone and transferred the points.

"Um I'll give the papers to you tomorrow."

"Alright. Meet me here."

Class 2D Senpai was about to leave when he stopped and turned around.

"When I reach Class B at least I'll call you!"

"Huh?"

Kiyomi had no idea that he was trying to show his determination.

"Um, sure. I guess..."

Kiyomi left.

Homeroom-2 Days Later

Kiyomi got up from her seat and approached Kushida.

"Kushida-San. Can we talk outside?"

"Um... sure."

Kiyomi and Kushida walked outside where Kushida then bowed to her.

"I promise I have no feelings for Horiktia-Kun. I won't get in your way Ayanokoji-Chan. After all. You two are probably better suited for each other."

"Huh? No. that's not what I wanted to talk about. I don't even get why you'd think I'd be able to grab his attention? I'm not that special."

"Huh? Don't say that. i think you're really pretty."

"Oh?... Really?"

"Yeah!"

"Well... thanks."

"So what did you want to talk about then?"

Kiyomi handed the printouts to her.

"Could you distribute these to our classmates?"

"Huh? Oh. Sure."

Kushida took the papers, but even though her expression was cheerful, her thoughts were the opposite. Deep down, she wasn't fond of the idea that Kiyomi was giving her a task that she could have done herself. They walked back inside as Kushida handed them out to everyone. Ike looked shocked and then cheerful.

"Huh? Seriusly? Practice questions? Thank you so much Kushida-Chan!"

"Well Ay..."

Kiyomi cut her off before she could say anything.

"Yes these will be very helpful. Thank you Kushida."

Kushida gave her a questioning look about her intentions but let it go. The day of the test every single student from Class D passed with flying colours. Kushida then approached Kiyomi.

"Ayanokoji-San. Why did you tell everyone that I made the papers?"

"Horikita-Kun made them but he didn't want anyone knowing about it since he's well... you" know.

"Oh I see."

"Well, I'll see you another time."

"Okay."

Kushida watched Kiyomi as she left finding the situation very strange.

Homeroom- A Few Days Later

Chabashira stood before the class and posted the results of the midterms.

'It should be impossible for any of us to fail considering those past papers but something still worries me.'

"You all passed. Not a single one of you got below 40 points. Colour me surprised. Keep this up and you might not actually be the worst Class D in history after all."

Suzuki sighed in relief.

'Well looks like I had no reason to be concerned.'

Kiyomi looked at Suzuki.

"What were you so worried about? Were you worried Sudo, Ike or Yamauchi would fail and be expelled?"

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"You seemed to be worried. So I thought maybe you thought they might get expelled."

"Huh? Not at all. It doesn't matter to me if they pass or not. Those three are of no concern to me. In fact, with their behaviour, it might be better for them to be expelled."

"It's just that I think your sister would be happy to see you getting worried abut them. She'd probably see it as growth on your part. Being able to see those around you as allies and being concerned for them."

Suzuki laughed a little.

"How would you know what sister would think? Well, it doesn't matter. Because I wasn't worried. They can get expelled tomorrow for all I care."

"Well alright. If you say so."

"By the way Ayanokoji-San. I know you had something to do with the papers.

"You're wrong. That was all Kushida."

"No it wasn't."

"Why would you think that?"

"Because she isn't smart enough to come up with papers like these that had the exact same questions as the ones on the Midterm."

"That was just lucky coincidence."

"Don't be ridiculous."

"I thought you weren't going to pry."

"I said I wouldn't pry into your past. I never said anything about your present."

'Why does she refuse to take credit? I don't understand it.'

Suzuki sighed as Kiyomi rested her head on her hand, turning her face away from him.

Kiyomi's Room

Kiyomi opened her door to find Sudo, Hirata, Ike, Yamauchi, Kushida and Suzuki waiting outside.

"Hello? Can I help you?"

Ike smirked giving her a thumbs up.

"We're here to celebrate us all passing the midterms!"

"Oh... well alright."

She opened her door letting them in.

"Just try not to make a...."

Ike accidentally knocked down a trash bin.

"...mess."

Ike apologised quickly cleaning up the mess by picking up the trash and putting it back in the bin. Kiyomi sighed cleaning it up more thoroughly. Suzuki observed the room.

"You keep a clean room Ayanokoji-San."

Hirata nodded.

"Yeah. I've never seen a room this clean before."

Yamauchi smirked and said, "Yeah! Ayanokoji-San is the perfect wife material!"

Suzuki sighed in annoyance.

'For once he's not wrong.'

Kiyomi didn't have a reaction to this keeping her monotone expression.

"I try to keep things clean. Just a habit."

Sudo looks around confused.

"Huh? No decorations? Why so bland?"

"Well, I am a pretty bland girl so..."

"Oh shit no. That's not what I meant."

Suzuki sighed in annoyance.

"It's truly impressive that you managed to insult our host within the first 5 minutes of us arriving. If you're going to be so rude then you should have done as I said and not celebrated here."

Kushida then spoke up.

"Hey come now. I'm sure Sudo-Kun didn't mean it like that."

Sudo looked down.

"No, he's right. I'm sorry."

"It's fine. I just didn't see the point in decorating. I don't mind having my room like this."

Kiyomi then looked to Suzuki.

"Though I didn't expect you to say something like that Horikita-Kun. I'm surprised."

Suzuki for a second he thought he saw a slight blush on her face but he shook his head.

'No. I'm just seeing things. There's no way she blushed.'

"Well make yourselves at home and have fun I guess."

Suzuki sat in the room as Sudo, Ike and Yamauchi celebrated when Yamauchi spilled a drink and he got sick of waiting for the elephant in the room to become obvious. He glared at the group of three.

"Is there something mentally deficient in your brain?"

Sudo looked pissed glaring at Suzuki.

"What's that supposed to mean!?"

"You wanted to celebrate your success at passing the midterms. Since your chances were abysmal I understand your need to celebrate for such an accomplishment but do you not see the rudeness of this event?"

Sudo got pissed grabbing his collar as Hirata tried to calm him down.

"Hey, now Sudo-Kun. Stop it."

Suzuki didn't relent.

"If you're so stupid to not have realised it already then I'm frankly astounded you passed the midterms even with the past papers."

Sudo swung back his fist ready to pummel Suzuki.

"Have you not thought about this situation with common sense? Barging into a girl's room without prior notice. Celebrating in the room and making a mess? Do you not see how uncomfortable Ayanokoji-San must feel from all of this?"

Sudo's eyes widened in realisation.

"Then smart guy why are you here?"

"Who do you think is cleaning up after you so that Ayanokoji-San doesn't have to?"

Sudo gritted his teeth knowing he was right. He turned to Kiyomi and bowed to her.

"I'm so sorry for being inconsiderate."

"It's alright. A little clean up isn't much trouble thanks to Horikita-Kun so I don't mind."

Sudo looked to the others.

"Let's clean up a little guys."

Hirata smiled.

"Yes. We should wrap things up as to not bother Ayanokoji-San too much."

Kushida smiled.

"Yeah. Let's clean up."

They cleaned up the room as slowly as they left one by one until only Suzuki was left.

"I'm sorry about the mess those idiots caused. And I'm sorry about not being able to convince them to not celebrate here."

"You could have told them it was inappropriate but you didn't. Why?"

"I..."

Suzuki sighed.

"... I thought you'd be okay with it and that I could smooth out any issues. Idiots as they are they still worked hard so they deserved to celebrate a little."

"For a second I thought you'd say something like you wanted to come."

"I won't deny that I find your company better than the idiots in our class but I wouldn't take it that far."

Kiyomi sighed.

"I thought you'd give that kind of response."

Suzuki stepped outside.

"I'll see you tomorrow Ayanokoji-San."

"Yeah I'll see you tomorrow. Horikita-Kun."

Homeroom-Next Day

Suzuki was sitting down as Kiyomi sat down next to him.

"Ayanokoji-San. Have you gotten your points?"

"I haven't. I've been wondering what happened as well."

Koenji walked up to them.

"Running low on funds are you Ayanokoji-Girl? If you want I'll treat you to some meals."

"Not in particular."

"Oh? Well I did expect you to save up your points."

Suzuki glared at Koenji.

"I think you need to understand that Ayanokoji-San doesn't appreciate your company. Leave her alone alright?"

"Oh? Jealous of the attention I'm receiving from her are you Horikita-Boy?"

"What? You can't be serious. There's no way you're that concieted."

"I think it's more appropriate to say that you are drowning in your own denial Horikita-Boy."

Suzuki clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"What do you know about me? Blond Gorilla."

Koenji laughs not letting the insult get to him. Chabashira entered the room as Hirata looked towards Chabashira.

"Sensei. We... we still haven't received any Private Points. Can we ask what's going on?"

"There really has been a delay this time so on behalf of the school I apologise."

Many sighed in relief.

'A delay huh?'

"As long as things go smoothly you'll receive your points as usual."

Hirata looked concerned about this.

"If things go smoothly?"

"Class C has issued a complaint against Sudo. They claim that he beat up their classmates."

Sudo stood up slamming his hands on the table.

"I'm not at fault here! They attacked me first!"

Suzuki sighed and walked up to Sudo.

"Even after everything you're still causing trouble you incompetent idiot."

Sudo walked up grabbing his collar.

"I told you I..."

Suzuki grabbed his arms prying Sudo's hands off of him and pushed him to the ground.

"Ow! You bastard!"

"Do you have proof or are words all you're worth?"

Sudo looked to Kiyomi.

"Don't look at me. While I sympathize with you Horikita-Kun is right about the fact that you didn't gather evidence."

Sudo looked downcast when Kiyomi offered her hand.

"Even still I want to help you."

Sudo took her hand getting up.

Kushida jumps on Kiyomi hugging her as some of the boys blush from seeing the two girls hugging.

"Kiyomi-Chan is such a nice person."

"Using my first name. I don't mind but Kushida-San. You're too close."

"Eh? You don't like it?"

Kiyomi nods.

"I prefer having personal space."

Kushida let her go, getting off and backing off a little to a bit of disappointment from some of the boys. Kiyomi looked to Sudo.

"From here on we'll need to find evidence of Sudo's innocence. I'll need help from you guys since I don't have many skills to offer."

Many looked a bit apprehensive about this. They started to speak up.

"Why should we help him?"

"Yeah! He's the one who always causes us problems."

"He got himself into this mess. Let him get out of it himself."

"Yeah!"

Sudo sweats his thoughts mired with despair as Suzuki sighs.

"You might not like him but we could take a hit to our Class Points if he's expelled. It's better for you all to not take the risk. Besides he's pretty strong so he could prove useful later on."

Hirata smiles.

"Horikita-Kun is right."

Kiyomi looked at Suzuki as she poked his side to get his attention.

"What is it?"

"And you said you weren't worried about him. Look at you defending him and even encouraging an effort to help him."

"Huh? It's just because him being expelled could cause us problems later on. That's all."

"Us? Not me?"

Suzuki gets annoyed.

"Ugh, whatever."

The others in the class sighed still a bit conflicted as Ike spoke up.

"Hey screw all of you! Sudo's my buddy and I'm gonna help him. Either help or stay out of the way."

Sudo looks to Ike.

"Ike..."

The other sighed.

"Well, I guess Horikita is right."

"I don't wanna lose any Class Points so it's better if we help."

"Yeah I mean Sudo's pretty strong too. It'd be a waste to lose him this early."

Sudo sighed in relief as Suzuki grabbed the back of his collar.

"On your feet. I'm going to make you work for this. After all, you should be the one working the hardest to prove your innocence."

Sudo gets up and sighs brushing off Suzuki's hand.

"I know."

Suzuki looks to Kiyomi.

'Was this all part of her plan? She wants me to lead the charge? She's so deceptive and manipulative. She's much more than just a cutie.'
