Chapter 13 - Treason

Gabriel.

Tristian keeps trying to mind link me, but I can't comprehend what he is saying. It's like I am in a trance. All I can see is Samantha. All I can hear is her breathing, and all I can smell are roses and a smell, I can't quite pinpoint, but it is delicious. So fresh, so sweet.

Her scent has my body on fire. I need her, and I need her now. She has her beautiful neck exposed to me, just asking me to mark her. I know I shouldn't. She is my alpha's mate. That would be treason at its finest. Yet, a part of me doesn't care. The wolf part for a fact doesn't give a shit.

My claws are tearing up Tristian's seats, and my canines are already full length for marking. I try to fight it at first, but my wolf has a good point. How is she my Alpha's mate if she smells so damn good to me? Aren't mates supposed to only smell this alluring to their mates? Eli must of fucking lied. She is not his mate. She is mines! I was drawn to her from the moment I met her at our gates. I know this feeling. After Eli attacked me I blacked out, I regained consciousness in the hospital with the help of her lovely fragrance.

There is a mistake on his part, has to be. Is she his chosen mate and not his actual mate? But that can't explain why his wolf is acting the way it is. Maybe we are both her mates? It's rare but it happens. If that's true, knowing Eli and knowing he is an Alpha there is no chance he will share her. I have to mark her and it has to be now. Besides he can't have her anyway. I will leave that pack in a second for her, something he wouldn't do. Clearly he isn't willing to do what's best for her like I am. I won't let go this time. We shouldn't mark anyone against their will, but she will have to forgive me.

I close my eyes and go for it. I jolt forward for her marking spot. When my canines meet flesh my mouth automatically snaps shut. The bitter metalic taste of blood fills my mouth causing my jaws to lock down harder. Then I hear her scream. A bone chilling scream that makes me want to shit myself. What did I just do? My eyes fly open and to say I am both terrfied and relieved is an understatment.

Samantha's eyes are so wide it is as if she doesn't have eyelids. Her back is pressed against the car door. Blood stains her pale face but she is too horrified to care. In between us is Tristian's arm stretched out. He must of thrown himself as much as he could through the opening between the front seats and into the back. Him being a big guy probably 6'4", he had to twist himself to fit. His torso is twisted toward Samantha, his left arm extended out clutching the back seat to brace himself. His right hand is wrapped around the headrest of the driver seat for the same reason. My caninies are pressed deep into his left biscep. His blood dripping down the corners of my mouth.

Time took a break. No one is moving. No one speaking. I hurt Tristian, my friend, my Beta, and even tried to mark my Alphas mate this is defintely grounds for banishment. Yet, the thing I am most terried of isn't becoming rogue but Samantha forever looking at me with such fear.

Tristian.

This motherfucker had bigger balls than anyone I ever met. Did he really just try to mark the Luna, my beautiful Luna?!

When I saw him launch himself at her, the only thing I could think of was to jump in between them. I am a big guy so jumping into the back seat was hard, only half of me made it. I gripped the back seat with my left hand for leverage, using my claws to get a tighter grip. It did the trick to keep me upright when Gabe's jaws wrapped around my arm and he bit down full force.

What an idiot, even if he had gotten to her he would of killed her. Using all his strength in his bite to mark her, a human.

The bite was painful, it gave me flashbacks to when I was attacked as a kid. So did the look on Samantha's face. She is paler than before. She stares straight ahead, obviously too afraid to blink or even breathe. It Seems like everyone is. Gabe stays latched onto my arm, me slung in the middle of the front seats, and the Luna against the car door. No one speaks and no one moves.

I can suddenly hear my phone ringing. I let it ring until it becomes annoying enough that my paraylsis subsides. I move my left leg up to put my knee on the armrest between the front seats. With the extra support, I drop my right hand down from the head rest and fish my phone out of my back pocket. I slide it open with my thumb before pressing the phone to my ear, not even checking who is calling.

"Hello?" I sigh into the phone.

"Where are you?" Alpha rasps out on the other end.

Shit.

"Sir."

"Where are you?" I am caught off guard especially at how pissed he sounds. Does he already know where we are?

I have to think carefully before lying. Lying to the Alpha, this woman has changed me in a matter of minutes. I am betraying Eli because of her. I want to mark her, and I want to lie about being with her.

"Beta?!" He roars into the phone. I pull my hand away and wince at the ring it leaves in my ear. "Is Gabriel there?" I sigh again in response.

I put the phone on speaker and toss it into the back seat.

"We're here." I answer.

"Where is here?" His voice fills the car and I find myself jealous at how Samantha's body defrosts at the sound of it.

Hearing Eli's aggravated tone has Gabe retracking his teeth from my arm in seconds. Thank the fucking Goddess. He cowers away from my phone, pushing himself against the opposite door from Samantha. I guess it finally hit him what he'd done. I can't blame him, I would of did the same if he didn't do it first.

"We went out of town for a bit." I am side stepping but still telling the truth.

"For?" I don't respond. "L-listen, I don't care what you do on your free time. You know I don't bother you unless I need you." He stutters. The alpha tone in his voice is gone. Now, he is just my best friend who I grew up with. He sounds desparate and troubled.

"And you know I'm always there when you need me. What's this about, is it your wolf?"

"Yes. No. I don't know." He hesitates. "I think Samantha's in trouble."

My eyes shoot up to meet Gabriel's just as they fill with panic. I look over at Samantha, she appears calmer but a bit nervous.

"What do you mean?" I gulp.

"I don't know. I was just in the office when I felt this overwhelming feeling of panic and I couldn't breathe. It was like a panic attack. I never had a fucking panic attack a day in my life. It reminded me of her. My wolf thinks we were sensing her. That for us to feel that, she must be in real danger."

Gabriel throws his hands to his face and runs them up and over his hair. Yeah you defintely screwed up fucker.

"But you haven't marked her, how would you be able to feel what she feels?"

"It was her. We know it was. We need to find her. Please help me." He pleads.

"She is human. It's impossible." I argue, wanting so badly for this to just be a coincidence.

"Are you questioning me?" He hisses.

I sigh heavily.

"No."

"Then help me."

I can't ignore the franticness in his voice and niether can Samantha. She motions towards the phone and I reluctantly nod. As she picks up the phone Gabe noticeablely stiffens.

"Eli?" She whispers.

"Samantha?!" His yelp shakes our eardrums and then we hear a thud and russling on the other end. "Sorry, I-I dropped the phone. Samantha is that really you?"

"Mhm." She answers simply, the corner of her mouth tilting upwards into a small smile.

I huff and pull myself back into my seat. Throwing my head back against the headrest. I reach into the glove compartment and grab a spare shirt, wrapping it around my arm. It'll heal eventually, it is so deep though so it might take more than a few hours or even a day. Might need Rameriez to take a look at it.

"How?" Eli's voice is small. Then is possessiveness takes over like any Alpha or wolf in general. "Why are they there, with them?"

"We came for you." I answer on her behave. "Trying to find a solution to your current situation."

"Without telling me?" He growls.

"They were only trying to help you." Samantha chimes in.

Is she defending us, after what Gabe did?

"Are you hurt?" He mumbles, his breathing heavy.

Samantha looks up at Gabe who has his head bowed, and his shoulders slouched.

"No." She answers truthfully.

"Did something happen? Did they scare you?"

Her fingers slide up and down the sides of my phone. She bites her bottom lip as she thinks of what to say. She is so cute, the Luna.

"Miss understanding?" She offers vaguely. Gabe and I are in disbelief. She actually spared us.

"Miss understanding?!" He booms. "Don't you hide it from me, tell me what happened!"

"Excuse me?!" She shouts back unexpectingly causing us to jump. "You're one to talk. You dropped me off months ago and didn't come 'find me' not once! You just stayed away and suffered by yourself. You hid things from me too."

Her voice ends in a whimper. Through the rearview mirror I could see her eyes watering. I want to smash that phone and hold her.
