Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Fighting Poison with Poison

"Alright, then I'll trouble you with this, Mr. Aven."

Just then, a calm voice suddenly echoed in the room, catching everyone off guard.

It was Phyllis who had spoken. There was no visible emotion on her face, as if those words hadn't come from her at all.

She really agreed to it…?

Master Johann's mouth dropped wide enough to fit an entire egg.

"Sister…" Sir Enzo spoke with a trembling voice.

Phyllis gave him a cold glance, then turned to the other apothecaries and said, "All the apothecaries present here can bear witness to what I said."

Seeing this, Apothecary Olai and Apothecary Johann exchanged glances and silently nodded. They were just as curious about what method Aven would use to detoxify the poison.

Aven also looked at the decisive Phyllis with slight surprise.

A full set of an rhyhorn-drawn carriage — including the beast, its equipment, and the coach — was worth several hundred gold coins.

"These are the materials required for the antidote. Please have them prepared," Aven said calmly, handing over a slip of paper.

He had clearly prepared it in advance…

Phyllis took the paper, her heart slightly chilled.

Did this mean Aven had already anticipated that they would come to him?

She glanced over the list and frowned slightly.

There were a lot of materials listed.

However, aside from a few kinds of magic beast venom, items like Oran Berries and Sitrus Berries were obtainable.

But something felt off — this was supposed to be a recipe for an antidote, yet it included poison?

She quickly realized that many of the ingredients weren't detoxifying in nature.

Is a full armored rhino carriage still not enough…?

Phyllis bit her lip, but her family, being of viscount rank, could afford this much.

"Mr. Aven, some of the ingredients in the formula may require the help of the apothecaries here," Phyllis said after a moment of thought.

Aven nodded lightly, indicating that the formula could be shared with the other apothecaries.

Just as Phyllis had guessed, only a small portion of the recipe's ingredients were actual antidotal components.

While the note had been prepared in advance, this detoxification wasn't something planned.

He had originally intended to give the list to Link to help procure the materials.

Masters Johann and Olai's eyes lit up as they took the note from Phyllis and laid it on the table to examine.

Oran Berry, Sitrus Berry, Pecha Berry, Lum Berry, Chesto Berry… Persim Berry.

As they scanned the list of berries, their gazes quickly focused on the Pecha and Persim Berries.

Pecha Berries were a very common detox fruit — most ordinary poisons could be easily neutralized with them.

Persim Berries, however, were rarer.

As seasoned apothecaries, both men were familiar with them.

They could indeed be used for detoxification, but not in raw form — they had to be processed into a special antidote.

Even they hadn't mastered such a formula!

Did Aven really know how to make an antidote using Persim Berries?

Once again, the two masters were stunned.

Recalling the unknown poison afflicting Luxray, they realized this kind of powerful and specialized antidote might truly be the only way to neutralize it.

"I didn't expect Mr. Aven to possess such a formula," Master Johann murmured, reluctantly pulling his eyes from the recipe.

Phyllis sighed in relief, then had someone make a copy of the recipe and handed it to her now-dejected little brother.

While Sir Enzo went to gather the ingredients, the two masters continued studying the formula, trying to identify the actual antidotal components.

Link leaned in for a glance, and just a single look told him there were clearly toxic elements mixed into the concoction.

"Mr. Aven, why are there beast toxins included in the formula?"

Unaware of the full context, Master Johann voiced his concern.

Although it was already an unusual recipe, blatantly listing venom seemed… excessive.

"Master Johann… Have you ever heard of fighting poison with poison?" Aven replied with a slight smile, a flicker of mischievousness in his heart.

The gathered apothecaries were stunned, carefully chewing over those few words.

They felt like they were on the verge of grasping something… and yet, not quite.

Could fighting poison with poison really work?

Without paying further attention to the apothecaries puzzling over the formula, Aven squatted down and continued checking Luxray's condition.

This Luxray had already reached the Elite level — in his original world, it would qualify to participate in the League Championships.

Converted into this world's power system, that equated to a primary magical beast.

In this world, magical beasts were divided into primary, intermediate, and advanced level — straightforward enough.

And yet this primary-level magical beast was already on the brink of death from a single poisonous move by little rookie Petilil.

That alone proved how powerful the move was.

Even a intermediate or advanced-level magical beast would be heavily affected by that poison.

Without timely detoxification, they too would face life-threatening consequences.

"Lil~"

Petilil also leaned in close, looking at the pitiful state of the Luxray with a glimmer of satisfaction.

"I think… I might be pretty strong now?"

That poison move was really effective.

I wonder how strong Leech Seed is…

Status effects are amazing!

And so, time flew by.

Not long after, hurried footsteps were heard outside the door.

Thanks to earlier preparation, Sir Enzo quickly returned with the ingredients from Aven's list.

"Mm, the materials are all here," Aven said after a quick glance.

Although a few ingredients were still missing, the beast venom and Persim Berries he needed were included.

Sir Enzo sighed in relief. He had already dispatched people to find the rest, but time was what they lacked most.

After checking everything, Aven instructed Sir Enzo to take him to a quiet room.

The other apothecaries, though disappointed, didn't object.

Potion-making was a private matter — they had no right to make unreasonable requests.

Once inside, Aven inspected the room, then placed Petilil on the table.

The little one blinked her big eyes as she watched Aven lay out the materials and sort them into tidy groups.

The ingredients were more than enough to prepare multiple potions — much to Aven's satisfaction.
