"I was literally on the verge of dying moments ago, so such attributes are to be expected. But… do I literally have to kill and murder people around like a psycho just to get stronger?"
He scanned the status window displayed before him with a cold gaze.
Many questions rose inside him as he studied it closely. Unlike what he had initially thought, it was way different from the status windows he had read about in manhwas.
No, not in the display aspect—but motive-wise.
Firstly, against the common norm that main leads follow, considering he is one, his stigma wasn't the lowest grade one, where every main lead starts.
Well, he didn't know the definitive grading system of this world, but one thing could be said for sure: if not the top-most, mythic grade should be considered one of the upper grades, if the naming sense of this world aligned with that of Earth, that is.
And besides, from the summary presented, it was the same stigma that the original Grayman used in the fragments of memory he saw.
He already knew the true potential and capability of the Puppeteer's brand.
For now, the proficiency was still at its lowest, but his lips curled up in a smirk regardless. He was quite satisfied with his newfound powers.
Secondly, the destiny of Villain and the Karma stat.
This part alone made two things clear. First, even though he had experienced something that only main characters do, he wasn't one for sure.
At least not if he decided to follow what the system had planned for him.
And given the circumstances, he indeed planned to do just that. Growing stronger was the only way to survive here, you can't trust anyone but your own strength.
For example, if the original Grayman was any weaker, he would have died then and there by his lover's hand.
'I have to get both skeptical and strong.'
Second, the reason those with Villain destiny were condemned and hunted by the guild, temple, and government a like:
Because for them to get stronger, there is no other way than to kill.
"I shouldn't let anyone find out about my stigma, at least until I get strong enough," he muttered in a self-assuring way and stood up from his bed.
After the maturation of destiny, it formed a stigma, and that stigma would manifest on any part of the bearer's body.
But what made identifying those with Villain destiny possible was the color of these stigmas.
Grayman moved his gaze around to find a mirror and there it was. A blank space where a device was situated downward. It wasn't a mirror, but something far better.
It didn't show the reflection like a normal mirror but instead showed the user how he or she would look from the perspective of another human.
How they would appear truly to others' eyes.
When Grayman stood there, a man with long black hair came into view. His skin was fair, but two scars around the cheeks and forehead stood out.
While his eyes were of a common color, dark brown.
Truly an average appearance. But what made his Charm go down by 5 from the average 15...
"Maybe it's because of these scars," he muttered while touching them lightly with his fingers.
But without wasting any more time, he removed his shirt. He wasn't looking into the mirror to gaze upon his average appearance but to find the location of his Stigma.
And just as he thought, it was big and clear, right at the upper center of his back.
The stigma was designed like a circular sigil formed by joining two sticks in a cross, with two strings extended downward from them.
It was colored red.
Representing the Stigma of Villain destiny.
For humans, it's plain black.
And for Heroes, it's shiny golden.
Ding!!
[The system shop is open now...]
[New Quest available...]
"System shop, huh?" he muttered, curious, as he checked the new features. The previously darkened option on the home window was now available.
Clicking on the shop symbol, a new interface appeared, displaying all types of skills, artifacts, upgrades, and much more.
He briefly read through them:
[Dragon Slayer: 1000 Fck]
[Aura Manifestation (Basic): 700 Fck]
[Talents Window Unlock: 2000 Fck]
[Note: Fck is the system currency gained by completing quests!]
"Weird… but let me check how many Fck I have,"
he muttered as he glanced around and there it was, displayed in the bottom corner.
[Balance: 0 Fck]
"Damn. Not even a single Fck."
He let out a sigh before toggling to the quest menu. A red icon marked the tab just like last time. From his previous experience, he knew it meant there was an unread quest.
With just his will, the quest window opened.
Instead of using his hand, the host's will was enough to toggle around the system. It was realisation he came to coincidently now.
[New!]
[Quest: Practice Stigma in training grounds.
Reward: Mystery Box
Penalty: None]
