Chapter 6 - So When's the Fight Starting?

-POV Noah-

Why the HELL was I the one nominated as part of the last line of defense? I would completely understand if I've been here for a while and my capabilities were known, but it's only been a couple days. My name is mostly only known at this point because of my outstanding looks and decent performance in the activities around camp. As far as they know, I'm nowhere near final stand material.

It's not even like I think I'd be pushed past, it's just not the most strategically intelligent move that could be made on a game that is supposed to be incredibly important. I really wonder what plan Annabeth concocted in that "genius" mind of hers.

It's good that at the very least I'm here with the supposedly "Strongest Duo" of the camp; Percy Jackson and Thalia Grace, who I know for a fact were the two people fighting in my vision. Which gives me another question-what happened to make them so mad at each other? That's just something I'll have to figure out later. I've got a game to focus on right now.

Also, why in the world would they have the hunters as the ones who are supposed to capture the flag? Their whole thing is literally hunting, so we're in their domain, trying to win a game that's been constantly lost for years before any of us were even at this camp in the first place. This whole setup is so damn asinine.

The crazy thing about this is that none of that's even my main complaint. All of the former mentioned complaints of mine are easily manageable, but my boredom isn't. I know that the hunters will be here soon, but as of right now, we've all just decided to find a nice place to chill.

Percy is sitting on the TOP of the little creek, and Thalia is sitting on a conveniently placed boulder right beside the flag. Meanwhile I've taken it upon myself to stand on a particularly sturdy tree branch.

The aura farming opportunities of the supernatural world are endless; I've gained so much aura after coming here that it's insane. Even Percy and Thalia are aura farming! There's no reason for her to have her back crouched just enough for her hair to cover her eyes at that perfect angle, or for him to look like he's meditating above the water.

I can hear the rustling of leaves and the pitter patter of what almost sounds like light rainfall to me. Did they really get through every other camper? What happened to Annabeth's plan? Welp, it doesn't matter now that the hunters are here, it's time to say goodbye to the aura farming session and lock in.

"Newbie, you're up! Show us what you've got, we'll pick up your slack if you can't keep up with the pressure." Thalia's words carry a strong hint of arrogance, but it changes nothing for me. If I have it my way then she won't even get to unveil her shield tonight.

"I love the faith you've got in me, Thalia, but I won't fall short." I reply back with zero heat to my voice.

I jump down from my tree branch and land in a crouch, before rising to meet the arrows of 11 hunters in total. From the looks of it the other campers did manage to lower the number of hunters I'll have to deal with. That's very good; I'd even go so far as to say that I'm proud of them.

"Surrender now, and we will give you the mercy of lessening the embarrassment of your defeat.", said one of the completely forgettable hunters.

"That doesn't matter, now does it? I'm not going to lose. In fact…", I say as I throw my sword to the side, "I won't even use a sword." (Little do they know, I don't use swords.)

"Thou is foolish enough, fighting with no armor, but no weapon as well? It seems to me as though we'll be getting another effortless win at camp half-blood." Their leader whose name I can't remember, I think it started with a Z or something like that, said with both venom and contempt.

I don't like her attitude.

I'm not going to give them the luxury of hearing my voice any further. They're going down now.

-POV Nick Fury-

After the attack on New York, I knew it was time to push the world council to focus even harder on space exploration. The Avengers are a decent countermeasure, but I will not be putting all my eggs into one basket. Coulson will be the one to take over for me as director once he's finished proving himself.

S.W.O.R.D.

The Sentient World Observation and Response Department will be something I'll have to hide from the council. I've never given them my full trust, but their decision to nuke New York during the invasion has let me know that they're not suited for "higher forms of war", as Thor so eloquently put it.

I've done my best to keep tabs on every possible threat to the Earth in my time as director, but no matter what I do I won't be able to know everything. I almost wasn't aware of the existence of mutants, thanks to Charles Xavier. His telepathic abilities have proven…interesting.

His fellow mutants also have abilities just as terrifying, along with monikers to go with said abilities. The Cyclops, and his energy beams that could level buildings, Marvel girl with her telekinetic prowess alongside her dangerously powerful psychic power, and many more potential assets that we've discovered.

Erik Lehnsherr, The Master of Magnetism as he likes to call himself, is also a very real threat as well. He just so happens to have a mutant group of his own. One of the most dangerous ones we've discovered is named Mystique. The mistress of espionage. I don't even want to get into that cesspool of an organization.

Xavier is supposed to be the good guy compared to Magneto. Although, I do find it hard to believe that he's so keen on "mutant and human coexistence", despite all of the preaching he did when I met him.

Not to mention that these guys are nothing but a fraction of the possible world-class threats out there. Even so, I highly doubt they'd let the earth get destroyed or subjugated in the case of another alien invasion.

Despite coming to that conclusion, I still believe that the stars are the next destination we must go to if we wish to advance the human race further. Coincidentally, there's a small group of scientists that recently got the go ahead from NASA to go on their own little space trip.

I've already looked into them all. It's a small operation containing only two people.

Susan and Johnny Storm, children of the late Franklin Storm, a remarkable scientist in his own right. The Baxter Foundation used to be prestigious, but his children were not old enough to have been able to maintain it, which led to them losing ownership and leaving them with nothing but the old Baxter building.

The other two are Ben Grimm and Reed Richards. Ben Grimm is an exceptionally talented pilot himself, but he is not the better prospect of the two. That title will have to go to Reed Richards. A genius level scientist and possibly the smartest man on earth who managed to one-up Victor Von Doom in their college years, the current king of the small nation known as Latveria and a contender for the smartest man on earth as well.

Doom is on our radar due to some rather…interesting circumstances around him, but I won't be getting into that.

I have a feeling that whatever these scientists find on their small little escapade is going to be part of the catalyst that becomes our future. I'll need to monitor them even closer soon enough, the launch is only in a couple of weeks.

For better or worse, I will protect the Earth from any and all threats. No matter who or what I have to sacrifice along the way. We will be the sword that strikes our unseen enemies, while our shield lies in wait to block any attacks that we may not foresee.

-POV Luke Castellan-

"RAAGHHH"

"And now my drink's ruined, damn it!" I growl to myself. Damn it all! The gods, the titans, Hermes, and even Kronos himself. ALL OF THEM!

"We're supposed to be making a better world for half-bloods, but instead we're twiddling our thumbs waiting for some children to come grab a DAMN COW!"

I need to calm down. Once they move, we can finally move our plans forward. Percy and Annabeth don't understand, but they will. This is for the greater good of all those who've been oppressed by the gods. I just hope that Thalia can see what I see…

Thalia…

I've spent years mourning her death, wracking my brain and agonizing over what I could possibly have done to save her. I've wondered what my life would've been if she was here with me, by my side as we completed quests and took on the world together. I do this for her. In her memory, in her honor.

Or at least…I did.

My informant tells me that she's been rallying the campers; helping to train them alongside Percy and Annabeth. They're working as a united front so that they can later on take on the titans. They're going to clash against plenty of minor gods, Hyperion, Morpheus, Prometheus, and even Kronos. They'd have to go against me.

Yet, this is exactly what I want. They need to realize that if they can go against the titans, then they can overthrow the gods as well. The gods won't be able to help them, not once Typhon is awakened. The residents of camp half-blood will have to defy the odds so heavily stacked against them to survive this. I've put my own kind in an extinction level sink-or-swim.

I am not ready for this. They are not ready for this. No one is ready for this.

We are mortals going against the divine, fighting for a world that may not stand once the battle is over.

I cannot afford to lose myself in my own doubts. We need this. Thousands of years have gone by with demigods just accepting the status quo. No more. I will make a change, one that's going to shake the heavens for eons to come.

I may not get recognition for my contributions, but that doesn't matter. This is our world, not theirs.

I'm gonna make sure of it.

-POV Arges-

The first step of my plan to take revenge against the gods is to acquire the ophiotaurus and burn its entrails. The level of power such an act would grant me is sufficient for my plans. While I am mighty powerful in my own right, there is not enough arrogance in my blood to believe that I'll be able to take down the gods with my current level of power alone.

Despite this, I am very aware of the number of people currently in search of the ophiotaurus. Artemis herself has recently been captured while she was on the hunt for it. Knowing this, I must be careful. I'll simply wait for someone to find it, and snatch it from them before anything can be done.

Kaecilius has done his part in being my transportation and information source, but his job is not over. His disloyalty to his master is sickening, but at the end of the day it's not my problem. Once he has outlived his usefulness, I have no doubt that he will be killed by what is possibly some no-name sorcerer of the same organization.

The only slightly worrying thing about the mortal is his connection to Dormammu. While quite a problem, that is still not something that I cannot deal with. His connection to this plane is middling at best. In fact, that might just be another avenue of strength that I can explore.

I'll have to look into that.
