You don't fall asleep here.
You fall.
Like the floor gives out and your brain forgets how to scream.
This time, I opened my eyes—and the lights were off.
Impossible. They never turn off.
The cot was gone. Elias too. Just endless white walls stretching into fog. Breathing hard, but the sound didn't come. Everything was thick, like moving through water.
Then the voice.
Not the system voice. Not calm, not cold.
Male. Broken. Familiar.
"Jonah... you did this."
I spun. Nothing there. Just the line again.
Except it was red now. Wet. Beating like a vein.
I stumbled back.
"You leaked the names. You wanted the truth? You buried them."
No. No, I never—
I protected them. I—
Didn't I?
"You think you're a hero. How many died because of you?"
A figure stepped out of the fog.
Thin. Shaking. Lab coat stained and torn. Eyes hollow. Hands burnt to the bone.
"They found me," he rasped. "Because of you."
I tried to move. Legs locked. Floor sticky under me, pulsing.
"Please," I whispered. "I didn't know... I didn't mean—"
The figure reached for me, trembling.
"You don't get to forget."
He lunged.
I screamed—
—and snapped back.
On the cot. Soaked in sweat. Elias snoring, turned to the wall.
Room normal.
Except for the smear under my foot. Red. Small. Real.
And the wall.
Scratched deep into it:
DID YOU FORGET?
