Chapter 31 - The Miracle of Sprouting Seeds

Laughing and chatting, the two of them prepared to head up the mountain.

Bok Taejin asked if they needed to bring anything else, but Im Beomhyeon waved his hand dismissively. "What else do we need? I've walked that path more times than I can count—it's perfectly safe. And if we need food or water, we can sort that out on the mountain. Let's just go."

However, their trip up the mountain was delayed.

Since they were already behind the house, Bok Taejin naturally wanted to check on the radishes he had planted yesterday.

He had only buried two seeds, yet today, in the very spots he had marked with twigs, he found two tiny green sprouts!

Two seeds, and after just one night, both had sprouted!

Im Beomhyeon's jaw dropped.

He pointed at the seedlings and then at Bok Taejin, completely speechless.

It was already late autumn, and the nights were particularly cold.

Even the cold-resistant crops struggled to sprout in such temperatures.

That's why most people, when planting during this season, would soak the seeds in warm water indoors and keep them in a warm environment until they grew into seedlings before finally transplanting them outside.

For Bok Taejin to casually toss those seeds into the ground yesterday and have them sprout was already remarkable.

Im Beomhyeon had figured that if even one of the two seeds managed to break through the soil in three to five days, it would be considered a success.

That was why he hadn't planned on planting more white radishes today.

But who would have thought that after just one night, the seeds would transform into such lively little seedlings?

If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes—if he didn't recognize the shape of white radish leaves and know for certain they weren't just weeds—he might have doubted whether these were actually the crops they had planted!

Since when did their crops have stronger vitality than wild grass?

Bok Taejin handled it better than Im Beomhyeon.

He knew these were spiritual seeds, so at least he was somewhat prepared.

Even so, he still needed a moment to compose himself before laughing.

"Brother Im, why don't we finish planting all my seeds today before heading up the mountain?"

With eager anticipation, Bok Taejin took out the jade gourd and poured out all the seeds inside.

Then, he was stunned.

He had never counted the seeds before, but he never expected there to be so few!

Including the two that had already sprouted, the jade gourd he had received contained only ten seeds in total?!

Now, he was left with just eight.

He had cleared an entire acre of land—how was he supposed to plant with so little?

Im Beomhyeon had already started digging holes in the soil, getting ready to bury the seeds.

He had finished two holes and was about to dig a third when he noticed what Bok Taejin was doing.

He stared in shock at the eight seeds in Bok Taejin's palm, which shimmered faintly under the sunlight.

"Don't tell me… that's all you have?!"
