"Heehee…"
From within the darkness, the cursed spirit let out a disturbingly human-like laugh.
Zephyr finally saw its face.
It had a humanoid form, grotesque and eerie, with a bluish body. Its lower half was wrapped in a strange loincloth.
"So scary, so scary… it's terrifying and perverted,"
Paimon shivered inside the bag, only her two eyes peeking out as she spoke in a trembling voice.
"Scary? I just think it's ugly. Besides, it totally underestimated us."
The cursed spirit curled its lips into a twisted grin, contorting its body like it was dancing to its own rhythm.
Lumine said, "Those little monsters before… were they just testing our strength?"
Zephyr replied, "I think more than anything, it was just watching us for entertainment. Like a cat playing with a mouse. But now… it's ready to strike itself."
"A cat playing with a mouse, huh…"
> Cursed Spirit: Cursed Womb—Daitian (Lv. 30) <
"Huh? This monster's only Level 30?"
Zephyr was pleasantly surprised.
Level 30—objectively speaking, that's already pretty high. In the original plot, this spirit outright wiped out Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro's group in seconds. After all, they were only around level 10.
Its level was even higher than Lumine's current visible level.
But still, it wasn't anything unbeatable.
Lumine had bonus stats from her Artifacts. Her actual combat level was closer to 36.
A level 36 versus level 30 fight—she had a huge advantage. Plus, she had healing items. If things went south, she could just pop a potion. Worst case scenario? She could always teleport away.
Of course, if this cursed spirit had hidden powers or exceptionally strong skills, that would be a different story.
Just like Satoru Gojo—even though his level was 90, Zephyr could say with certainty: even if Lumine also reached level 90, she still wouldn't stand a chance against him.
His Domain Expansion was simply cheating, raising his combat power by an entire tier.
Of course, this cursed spirit in front of them obviously wasn't on Gojo's level. But… it wouldn't be surprising if it was hiding an extra 5 to 10 levels of power.
So, they couldn't afford to be careless. Caution was still necessary.
Suddenly, the cursed spirit made its move.
There was nothing flashy about its attack—it simply slid its arm forward in a smooth motion.
Instantly, a powerful shockwave erupted. The reinforced concrete wall behind them cracked with deep, spreading fissures.
But at the very moment the shockwave hit, Zephyr activated his dash ability and dodged the damage completely.
The moment he dashed, he entered an invincible state.
Paimon exclaimed, "So strong!"
Seeing that its attack had little effect and no special area of impact, the cursed spirit casually swung its arm again.
Zephyr said, "The damage and speed are still within acceptable limits. It's probably still just toying with us for now. Lumine, take the next hit—let's see how much damage it actually does."
Lumine nodded. The two of them shared one mind and body.
She braced herself and endured the attack head-on.
—300 HP lost.
"Still manageable."
Currently, he had around 4,000 HP. Losing 300 in one hit was within acceptable bounds.
This was also because Lumine's Artifacts hadn't been upgraded yet—otherwise, her HP would've easily broken past 10,000. With increased defense, that attack just now would've only shaved off a few dozen points at most.
Paimon cried out, "W-What skill did it just use?!"
Zephyr replied, "That wasn't a skill. It just released cursed energy."
"Cursed energy?"
"Basically, it just dumped raw MP."
This alone showed just how powerful the cursed spirit was—releasing pure MP alone could cause such devastation. But at the same time, it also revealed how arrogant it was.
Like seriously, how much MP do you think you have to be wasting it like that? Have you never died before or something?
Paimon, however, was completely confused.
"Wait, what's MP?"
"Uh…" Right, in Genshin Impact, there's no 'mana bar,' and you can just use skills freely.
"You can think of it this way: its skills have usage limits. Once it uses them enough times, it can't use them anymore. But for me, my skills just have cooldowns—I can spam them as long as they're off cooldown."
"Ohh, got it!"
The cursed spirit, seeing Lumine shrug off its attack so easily, started to lose face. It got serious.
In its hand, it began to condense what looked like an energy cannon.
But Zephyr knew—that wasn't some sci-fi energy cannon. That was a Cursed Energy Orb. The mechanics were simple: it was just cursed energy, compressed and condensed into a projectile.
Simple as it was, that didn't make the technique weak.
In fact, it was a "scales with the enemy" kind of skill—strong against strong, weak against weak. It consumed an enormous amount of cursed energy, and the precision needed to compress it properly required incredible skill.
Most sorcerers and cursed spirits wouldn't even bother using it—it burned through cursed energy way too fast.
But this cursed spirit… whether it was just overconfident or still high on the thrill of being newly born, it clearly didn't care about conserving cursed energy at all.
Which, of course, worked in Zephyr's favor.
"This cursed energy orbcannot be taken head-on."
Zephyr focused intensely, and the instant the attack flew toward him, he slammed the dash button.
Invincibility frames activated.
It only lasted for a split second, but that was more than enough to dodge an explosive-type skill like this.
If it had been a continuous damage attack, though, there would've been no way to avoid it.
Seeing Lumine come out of that attack completely unscathed again, the cursed spirit was furious.
It clapped its hands together—between them, a massive, dazzling orb of cursed energy began to form.
Paimon was stunned. "Is… is that a Spirit Bomb?!"
"Look at that color! That's totally a Gaia Energy Cannon, okay?"
Faced with this rage-fueled full-power attack, Zephyr had no options left. The blast radius was way too large—nowhere to dodge.
"No choice. Go, Battle Tornado!"
A spiraling dragon of wind, filled with destructive force, roared out to meet the cursed spirit's colossal energy blast head-on.
Paimon cheered, "Go, lil' Tornado! Wreck that ugly freak!"
Zephyr frowned. It was an even match.
Even though it looked like a 50-50 clash, he felt like he was barely losing. He was essentially level 36, and yet he was only going even with a level 30 mid-boss? That was unacceptable.
Sure, this cursed spirit looked strong. Sure, its growth potential was ridiculous. Sure, it had one of Sukuna's fingers in its body.
But still—look how ugly it is. Zephyr couldn't stand it.
"If only I had a Melt team… One nuke and boom, boss gone!"
Or even a double Anemo team would do the trick. Just kite it to death.
Double Anemo teams get cooldown reduction buffs, and the characters can charge each other's energy super fast—like, absurdly fast.
Ultimates can be spammed non-stop.
Cooldown isn't even finished before the energy bar is full again.
By normal standards, how is this even fair?
But complaining was useless. Right now, Zephyr could only control Lumine—and no one else.
He sighed. "Man, I really miss Amber… I wanna play her again so bad… just a little trial run…"
The two massive energy attacks collided.
At their point of impact, the light grew intensely bright. The energy fluctuations surged wildly.
Zephyr's face changed. He grabbed Paimon and bolted.
A few seconds later—BOOM!
A deafening explosion shook the entire area, like a true nuclear blast had gone off.
"Holy—!"
The shockwave was so powerful, part of the building actually collapsed.
Fortunately, Zephyr was lucky. Plus, he still had healing items on hand, so he quickly chugged a potion and brought his HP back up.
