Two days had passed since the [Burning of 6th Floor] incident, the first controversy of the Royal Magic Academy, when the school year hadn't officially started yet.
From the first floor, a loud smack was heard.
The crisp sounds of flesh made contact echoed in the room. Ashrosaliera felt a sharp pain on her face, her head swung to the side following the slap, much to the startlement of her roommates, Tarnisha the beastman, and Cinderella the half-blooded elf.
The man who slapped Ash was someone with messy white hair, round eyeglasses, and an unkept, sharp beard.
"I'm disappointed in you, young woman," the man said.
"Dad… I'm…" Ash tried to answer.
"No more excuses!" he yelled.
Ashrosaliera bit her lips and looked down at the ground on her own shoes, with both arms crossed behind her back. She dared not look at her own father; from her memory, he was an uncoordinated, slow, and ordinary man, with a lack of sleep and a lot of dry lessons he tried to teach her about Fire magic because he was a user himself.
"Sorry for intruding on your dormitory room, girls. I just need to talk to Ashrosaliera for a moment." Davey Säpphroaleryst pushed his glasses and smiled at the two other girls, "Especially thank you, Tarnisha, for helping the others to safety in time."
"It's my pleasure, Mr. Säpphroaleryst!" Tarnisha smiled, "I was just walking with Zofia, and she told me to call for the guidance counselor when we heard screaming."
He nodded with a kind smile, but upon being reminded of the guidance counselor, Davey sighed, turning over to his daughter, he said.
"Ash, this hurts me as much as it hurts you. This is our first reunion after two years of me trying to rebuild my career, and I couldn't believe I have to ask for external favors already…" He crossed his arms, with a stern and cold voice, he lectured Ash, "I talked with Mr. Magmal, and long story short, you should consider giving those three students a visit, with gifts, at the infirmary, and earn their expressed forgiveness. And you should be thankful that the guy attacked you first."
"...But I'm glad you're still living well."
Ashrosaliera started fidgeting with her own fingers, unable to speak up or form a proper apology. She wanted to explain that it wasn't her fault, and that the students of the best academy in the kingdom were just too weak, but her father's gaze crushed the words in her throat. Ashrosaliera stuttered with a few "I… Uh… Um" for a bit before finally forming a sentence, voicing one of her main concerns.
"Is mom going to come?" she whispered, "I don't want more attention… She's going to spank me in front of everyone."
Upon hearing that weird sentence, and forming the thought of an 18-year-old afraid of being spanked by her mom, Cinderella Twilight from C-Class almost burst out laughing, but she covered her mouth in time and turned away, burying her face into Tarnisha's shoulder to muffle out the sound.
"It's fine, I already told her I'd handle it. However, you'll need a replacement necklace, one that will limit your output. Mr. Magmal will summon you after he finishes it." Davey explained.
Ashrosaliera nodded, understanding the situation at first, but then her expression turned to confusion, and she tiptoed to whisper.
"The guidance counselor is making my necklace? Does he know I have an SSS-Rank skill?" Ash asked worryingly.
"He didn't, but he does now, thanks to somebody who showed it to him." Davey chewed her out, "I know Pearl, we go way back, so he'll keep your secret, unless you want to let the world know, which I still don't recommend."
"I won't! But I have something to tell you, Dad."
Ashrosaliera gulped, leaning even closer to Davey's ear to keep this between the two of them, and the man squatted down to match her height.
"Recently there's been quests with [Punishments], my Fireball went from SSS to B-Rank during the evaluation and it sucks! I don't want to receive any more punishments, can I take off my necklace when I need a [Honorary Duel]?"
Davey raised his eyebrows in surprise. He rubbed his own beard for a second before finally nodding.
"I'll put a word in. You'll know when you get the necklace, but right now, you're still grounded in your dorm for 2 more days."
"Yes, daddy…" she sighed.
Davey Säpphroaleryst didn't want to intrude on the ladies' personal living space, so he chatted with Cinderella and Tarnisha for a bit more. He learned that Ashrosaliera was a menace from the very first day she arrived, screaming in the hall and attracting weird looks from half of the students who were getting into their dorms. He also learned about how she had been placed in F-Class and had stayed in bed for a day straight without eating, drinking, or using the bathroom.
"Which was quite impressive, I think." Cinderella commented with a shrug.
Finally, he left with his final goodbyes, promising to be back soon and visit Ash. But she didn't hear him, for she was bright red from being reminded of her own failures at the evaluation.
"You meanie…" Ash pouted, whispering, "Not even a goodbye kiss."
But it's okay, she thought. Because she finally got a peace of mind from that problem being solved, she could focus on her guilty pleasure without feeling guilty!
"System." Ashrosaliera whispered under the darkness of her blanket, manually turning the status board on this time.

Ashrosaliera paused for a second, thinking intensely.
'Dad showed me all these skills and explained their functionality, which then appeared on the system interface… I think Flash is a really cool thing that'll help me instantly teleport a short distance. Still, I already upgraded my Fire Flight to B, which is also a mobility skill.'
She lay down on her back, feeling heated. She took the blanket off and rolled to the side, staring at Tarnisha and Cinderella over at the other bunk as the thoughts went on.
'I don't have a mana issue… I suppose SSS Fireball does cost 200MP, but it's an ending, one-shot skill, so I don't have to worry about follow-up… The choice is between more HP, which I have never put any points in before in my life, and [Warm Heal], which is an [Sustain Spell] that heals people with fire.'
Facing a conflict between getting more endurance or a useful healing spell, Ashrosaliera started tossing and turning on her bed as if she were having a nightmare.
"This is hard to choose! But I should choose fast and visit the infirmary!"
The two roommates, who were minding their own business, looked up at Ash.
"She's monologuing again, is that normal?" Tarnisha whispered concerningly.
"Probably late puberty, I remember doing something like that after being scolded by my mom." Cinderella whispered back.
"I know!" Ashrosaliera suddenly screamed, startling them.
The two roommates then spectated when Ash pressed her index finger into the air.

'Why do I need healing when all I need is more ranged destructive power? If I couldn't use Fireball, I at least need something other than Blazing Blade! But another F for starter… Geez, I'm so unlucky.' Ashrosaliera pouted.
