Chapter 47 - Sovereignty of the Deep

For only a fleeting moment, Shin felt it—a subtle shift in the world's fabric, like a coming tide no eye could yet see.

The sea breeze rolled across the coast in warm gusts, carrying the scent of salt, sun-warmed coral, and the distant promise of storms. Waves parted with reverent hushes around the rising figures of Serafall, Sona, Sinbad, and Abyssorin, Lord of the Abyssal Deep.

Behind them came the retinue: merfolk nobles clad in armor encrusted with pearls and abalone, siren emissaries swathed in veils of shimmerthread, and stalwart fishmen warriors, their coral-forged tridents tapping the shore with steady rhythm.

Abyssorin halted at the water's edge. The sun glistened against his obsidian-scaled body, scattering dark rainbows into the surf. Without words, he gave Serafall a deep, respectful nod, then turned back to his warriors. In solemn silence, the Abyssal Lord and his host sank beneath the waves, leaving only ripples in their wake.

Yet even as they vanished, a thread of connection tugged at Shin's mind.

"My lord," Abyssorin's deep voice whispered in Shin's thoughts, "I wish to remain close—to guard Lady Serafall."

Shin answered aloud, his voice low but firm. "I agree. I'll ensure our home offers you a place near her side."

"My thanks, my lord," the Abyssal Lord replied, before his presence faded into the depths.

On Land…

The moment they stepped beyond the tide, the weight of new purpose rolled through the group like a gathering storm.

"We must inform Lord Shin immediately," Sinbad said, striding up the slope with princely ease. "A dockyard, shipwrights, naval infrastructure—we need it all. Abyssorin's pledge means little without steel, sail, and strongholds to support it."

Serafall floated midair in a lazy twirl, her magic ribbons scattering playful sparkles. "I like Abyssorin!" she beamed. "I hope my Stormbear lets me keep him as my summon!"

Sona, ever the composed younger sister, sighed heavily and adjusted her glasses. Her cheeks betrayed a betraying shade of pink. "Could you not shout that part, sister? And 'Stormbear'… please, at least limit that nickname to private moments."

As they crested the slope toward the great plaza before the Ascension Tower, more of Shin's champions appeared. Robin walked alongside Lulu, who crackled with subtle arcs of stormfire—the lingering gifts of her recent ascension. Diana and Scáthach followed close behind, the satisfied silence between them speaking of a hard-fought sparring session.

Before Shin could greet them, a sparkling meteor collided into him.

"Stormbear!" Serafall squealed, clinging to him with gleeful force. "Your magical girl just recruited the merfolk, fishmen, and sirens! Tempest now rules the waves too!"

Shin caught her effortlessly, spinning once to absorb the impact. He laughed, the deep, rumbling sound drawing smiles from those around them. "You've done beautifully, my Magical Girl Maou."

Serafall pressed her face into his shoulder, voice muffled but utterly delighted. "Say it again."

"You've exceeded every expectation," Shin whispered into her ear while firmly grabbing her waist. "I've good news Abyssorin has pledged to serve as your personal guard. I've arranged it. He'll stay close to our home—to you."

Serafall shivered against him, overwhelmed. "Stormbear… thank you. Thank you so much."

Sona stepped forward next, a cool calmness anchoring the gathering excitement. "Lord Shin, the coastal territories are stable for now. But to maintain this alliance, we'll need infrastructure. Defensive layers. Fortified trade routes. Discipline among the new recruits."

Sinbad knelt at her side, his voice sharpened by years of kingship and conquest. "Shipyards. Bastions. Naval academies. The sea will soon become the next battlefield."

Shin's expression turned steely. His gaze swept across the ocean, already seeing beyond the horizon. "If our enemies cannot reach us by land… they'll come by sea."

He turned, his voice dropping into the register of command. "Heart."

["Yes, big brother?"] Heart's voice chimed sweetly in his mind.

"Search the player market. I want the best naval blueprints available—shipyards, coastal bastions, underwater trade hubs. Spare no expense."

["On it. Scanning Mythic and higher-tier listings now!"]

"And while you're at it," Shin said, extending a hand, "pass me the Specialized Gacha Token."

["Ooh, you're summoning him?"] Heart giggled, her tone practically bouncing with excitement. ["I love when you're dramatic. Summoning token, incoming!"]

Golden mist swirled in Shin's palm, condensing into an obsidian-black token pulsing with latent power. It throbbed like a heartbeat echoing from another world.

A fierce smirk curved Shin's lips. "It's time to call the man who built the Grand Armada of Stars."

["This is gonna be legendary!"] Heart squealed.

Within the System Interface…

While Shin focused on summoning, Heart plunged deep into the shimmering databanks of the Kingdom System. Threads of light wove between her fingers as she filtered through thousands of listings with ruthless precision.

She wasn't browsing.

She was hunting.

Her haul was nothing short of kingdom-defining:

["All acquired. Transferring to Royal Inventory. Dockyard construction slot unlocked!"] Heart declared with triumph.

Meanwhile, atop the Ascension Tower…

A sacred hush fell as Nina Tempest stood at the center, her nine shimmering tails unfurled in perfect symmetry. Silver and crimson energy rippled from her like a living storm.

Above her, a radiant sigil ignited.

Lulu whistled in awe. "Those illusions… they're terrifyingly real."

Serafall clapped her hands. "Can I borrow one to prank Sona?!"

Shin approached Nina, brushing a silver lock from her cheek with reverence. "You've become a masterpiece," he whispered.

Nina's crimson gaze softened. "A masterpiece made for you… and for war."

Their bond sealed with a silent vow.

Below, the nine-tailed foxes of ancient myth howled beneath the rising moon.

The newly awakened vixens knelt before Shin, shimmering with divine loyalty.

"They're yours now," Nina whispered. "The battlefield will never see them coming."

Shin nodded. "Then let the world learn the terror of illusions made real."

Atop the Platform…

Shin raised the obsidian token.

["Are you sure? This universe link is one-way,"] Heart warned.

"I'm sure," Shin said.

He crushed the token between his fingers.

Reality fractured.

Steel rang against steel in the distance. Thunder rumbled not from the sky, but from a hammer striking the very bones of the earth.

A hulking figure emerged—shirt flapping, tattoos gleaming, a wild grin on his face.

"Yohohoho! Someone needed a legendary shipwright?!"

Shin's grin matched his. "Tom. From Water 7."

Tom cracked his knuckles, laughter booming. "You want warships that sail the heavens? I'll build you floating cities, lad! Let's get started!"

Sinbad could only stare. "Lord Shin… you summoned a miracle."

[System Update: Master Shipwright Tom has joined the Kingdom of Legends! Water 7 Sovereign Dockyards unlocked! Naval Ascension Path now available!]

Later…

Robin sauntered up, a scroll tucked under one arm.

"I took the liberty of checking Heart's haul," she said. "Wanna hear the list?"

Shin nodded.

With a sly smile, Robin unrolled the glowing scroll.

"Here's what she bought:

• Water 7 Sovereign Dockyards

• Fortified Sea Bastions

• Deep Current Trade Nexus

• Subjugation Orders

• Coral Lotus Seeds, Leviathan Vine Seeds

• Flameberry and Lightning Frost Grape Seeds

• Oceanic Ballistae and Tidebreaker Mines

• Artisan Permit for Aquatech Engineers."

She tucked the scroll away with a smirk. "Your kingdom doesn't just sail now, Shin… it dominates."

Shin's eyes turned to the darkening sea.

"It's time," he said softly, "to rewrite the map."
