Chapter 85 - Debt Issuer × Severed Arm

"I can guarantee I won't use your abilities for long. Borrowing has a time limit."

So said Leol, sealing his terms.

Leol's ability: [Debt Issuer].

By selling someone a favor, Leol can borrow their Nen ability once, for up to 60 minutes.

After borrowing, the user's name, ability, and rental history are automatically recorded on the "Issuer Device" Leol carries.

If the original ability user dies, the entry is erased, and the ability can never be borrowed again.

To activate, two conditions must be met:

Leol must know the target's ability name or have witnessed it in action.

He must offer a favor using phrases like "You owe me one" or "This isn't for free," and the target must accept the favor.

Leol had already seen all three abilities—and had received Shaiapouf's verbal acknowledgment of a favor owed.

So, when the Debt Issuer was activated, he successfully borrowed Pouf's ability, rendering Pouf unable to use it himself.

To Morel and Knov, this was priceless.

And Leol had already proven he could borrow abilities—he'd just used Grachan's water surfing ability to break the third-floor smoke seal.

Grachan was a hunter they both knew.

But what truly rattled Knov and Morel wasn't just the ability.

It was what Leol said next:

"I know where the King was taken."

If the Royal Guards knew this, they could interrupt Netero's fight—a threat the Extermination Squad could not accept.

Even now, despite Leol's honesty, Knov and Morel were being forced into a corner.

Should we bet on him…?

They locked eyes. The same thought reflected between them: Gamble everything.

Before they could speak, though—

Shaiapouf lost it.

Betrayed—by Leol?!

Before Leol's declaration, Pouf had sensed nothing off about his aura.

No deception. No hesitation.

So—there could be only one conclusion:

This was spontaneous… but why?

Pouf's answer came fast.

Leol wanted their abilities.

But not just to use himself…

He wanted to leverage them. To gain favor with someone else.

He plans to sell that favor… to the King!

A chilling hypothesis snapped into place in Pouf's mind.

Leol must have learned the King's ability. Somehow.

Fratra... he must've used Fratra! That corpse was reconstructed!

It was their own negligence—the Guards had let down their defenses.

And now Leol—this opportunistic predator—was planning to use Knov and Morel's abilities as bargaining chips with the King himself.

Unacceptable.

He must die.

Pouf's aura ignited.

He dove straight for Leol, ignoring Knov and Morel entirely.

That was the final nudge.

To prompt the two veterans to make their call:

Leol's target is the King.

If so, then Leol really did know where he was.

And Pouf's unmasked rage proved this wasn't an act.

Even Leol's own subtle dread as Pouf charged in—that wasn't acting.

He must not be allowed to die.

If Leol perished, his knowledge perished with him.

The gamble became clear:

Let Leol borrow one ability, and he might be able to corner Pouf.

If it failed?

Leol couldn't master their finely tuned powers anyway.

It's worth it.

Especially since Morel's pipe was required, and Knov's dimensional space was hard to use without experience.

"Fine. I accept."

Both men spoke at once.

Leol's grin returned.

The Debt Issuer appeared in his hand.

At the same moment, Pouf froze—his clones forcibly reintegrated.

Leol split into a dozen miniature lions, all scattering in every direction.

"He's yours now! Finish him!"

Knov vanished into his dimension and emerged moments later with a spare pipe—Morel always had backups stored in his space.

Grabbing the pipe, Morel exhaled a massive wave of smoke.

Smoke flooded the third floor, enveloping Pouf once again.

At 13 minutes, 41 seconds into the invasion…

The right tower exploded.

A black aura surged skyward—Neferpitou's.

A massive battle had begun.

Two figures burst from the collapsing structure.

Pitou trailed behind a hovering black puppet, her claws gleaming.

Facing her, exchanging fierce blows, was Kite, wielding a massive scythe-like whip.

Behind them—Joey stumbled out, clutching a limp Komugi in his arms.

His right arm was gone.

Gon and Killua were nowhere to be seen, but explosions echoed from afar—clearly, a separate fight was in full swing.

Joey was pale, exhausted.

He had ripped Komugi away just before Pitou could finish her healing.

In that moment, he had attempted to hand her back, hoping to touch Pitou and detonate Killer Queen's First Bomb.

Instead, his right arm had been torn off instantly.

If not for Kite's intervention, he would've died.

Now—he had no choice.

He consumed the last scrap of wallet aura, activating Golden Experience to construct a new arm.

He slammed it into the severed stump.

Pain twisted his face.

He grit his teeth in silence, waited, and finally exhaled.

His arm stabilized.

Killer Queen is back online.

That alone made everything worth it.
