Dragonfly Chimera Ant.
Joey and Kite had first encountered it back in the NGL—the surveillance-type Chimera Ant.
After Colt's surrender, it was this ant that brought a wave of critical intel.
Looking back now, Joey couldn't help but admit—Morel's decision back then? Not wrong at all.
Colt had truly aided their operation with everything he knew.
But that wasn't the only thing Colt left behind.
There was something else.
Something Joey had almost forgotten.
The "lifeform" he had imbued with Gold Experience—with Colt's care and the experts' guidance—it had started to grow.
Not just physically. Intellectually.
She was no longer a palm-sized bundle of light.
She now resembled a child—half the size of an adult.
Though Joey remained curious, he had no excuse to visit.
But according to the intel from Kite, it wasn't just Gold Experience's influence.
Some other ability was stabilizing her evolution.
She now had a name.
A family.
Her name was Reina.
The name Colt had once intended for Kite's reincarnation.
What she would become… even Joey didn't dare guess.
But now was not the time to dwell on Reina.
Right now, it was time to focus on the assignment Kite had given them:
Create a disruption.
A deliberate ripple.
The objective was to flush out a surveillance threat—
Flutter, the Dragonfly Chimera Ant that escaped their earlier strike team.
After awakening Nen, Flutter had developed a Hatsu focused entirely on observation:
Super Compound Eyes
—an ability that allowed him to watch targets from all angles using dozens of tiny "satellite dragonflies".
With exceptional vision, long-range communication, and a smartphone,
Flutter had become the perfect scout.
Which meant—he needed to be the first to fall.
But judging from the lack of confirmation, the hunter sent after him had likely failed.
So Kite crafted the bait plan.
And with André's Solitary Cell teleportation ability, Joey's team was the ideal choice for it.
But then… Gon and Killua made their move first.
And now?
Flutter could be anywhere.
"Why can't people just stick to the damn plan?" Joey grumbled.
André stayed silent, but his frown said plenty.
8 a.m.
As the morning mist faded, Joey suddenly stopped.
"That direction," he muttered, turning toward the north.
A sharp, unnatural anxiety had stabbed his chest.
"Feel it too?" André asked quietly.
"Yeah. Let's change course."
Joey had a theory.
That instinctive dread?
It was Chairman Netero, meditating somewhere in that direction.
To instill such a primal fear from this distance?
Terrifying.
"Knuckle and Shoot are preparing an ambush for Cheetu. If we turn east, we may run into them," André warned.
Joey nodded—
Just as the ground shook beneath their feet.
A roar tore through the trees, rolling in from the east.
"Spotted. Get ready."
André pulled open the Solitary Cell, and reached inside—
drawing out a pistol Joey had never seen before. Possibly conjured.
Joey dropped into a combat stance.
Thin serpents, woven from aura and forged by Gold Experience, slithered around his feet.
At his side—Killer Queen materialized, silent and deadly.
A flick of Joey's wrist summoned a Nen bullet.
He infused it with Sheer Heart Attack, Killer Queen's first bomb.
A charging rhino-type Chimera Ant tore through the forest, lowering its horn for impact.
No hesitation. No aura defense.
Just brute force.
The Nen bullet didn't look dangerous—
until it hit.
Click.
Killer Queen's thumb pressed down.
Annihilation.
The rhino ant disintegrated instantly—no explosion, just gone.
The process didn't even last a second.
A nearby beetle-type ant, who'd been watching with disdain, stumbled back in shock.
"The hell just happened—?!"
His thought was cut off—
a beetle landed on his shoulder. A mechanical click followed.
He didn't know what a retractable pen sounded like.
Didn't matter.
He vanished.
A second later, a massive mutant baboon dropped from the trees,
smashing a fist at Joey.
Behind it, a mammoth-sized elephant ant crashed down, attempting a classic Reinforced Impact.
"Pure Enhancement-type Hatsu," André muttered.
"You can tell from the aura flow."
Joey reacted instantly.
He and Killer Queen leapt upward,
Joey crossing his arms to block the ape's strike.
Killer Queen cocked a hand.
A slap.
That was the attack Joey trained Killer Queen to use.
A touch equals a bomb.
But before Killer Queen could connect—
BAM BAM BAM
A blur of motion.
Punches landed squarely on Killer Queen's chest—knocking the Stand back.
At the same time, Joey was hit clean by the baboon ant's fist and sent flying.
He hit the ground hard.
"No way—"
Eyes wide, Joey stared at the figure who'd entered the fray:
Sleek frame. Lightning-fast strikes. Leopard features.
It was Cheetu.
"He's supposed to be fighting Knuckle and Shoot…!"
But there, in the sky—floating above them, hands tucked inside his sleeves—
Flutter.
