Chapter 10 - The Degenerates [BONUS 2]

[...] starts where chapter 8 ends.

Alexander paused for a moment, still breathless from beating the poor soldier.

His hands were drenched in blood.

He noticed that his clothes and face were also splattered with fresh blood.

Alexander collapsed on the ground next to the soldier's body and let out the biggest sigh of his life.

'We need to get out of here fast, Evandro!'

He was caught by surprise when, unexpectedly, it started to rain.

'Every time I lie on the ground, it starts to rain… What is it? Some playwright or lazy writer who just chooses the same things for me to suffer… Who knows?

He laughed at himself.

He stood up at once and noticed that the blood ran down his body and washed away all the accumulated filth.

The moment he stood up, he realized Evandro was unconscious and quickly noticed a discreet wound on his temple.

He realized it was at a knockout point, so he considered it something 'strategic' from the soldiers.

'After all, these idiots weren't that idiotic… But I think I have bigger problems here…'

He pondered for a few seconds and decided he should place the bag in front of him and hang Evandro behind his back.

Alexander then made sure from a distance that there were no soldiers on the street and headed toward the end of the road as fast as his body allowed.

At the end of the street, there was a wall made of old, worn wood. Alexander checked and noticed that a bit to the right of the center there was a part where the wood was loose.

He removed four planks and slipped through with Evandro still on his back. Then he carefully laid him on the ground and picked up the planks, putting them back to avoid being seen.

He picked up Evandro and put him back on his back.

From there on, it was only forest, and he followed wherever his instincts told him.

'Now, like before, it all depends on luck…'
