Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Potential of Sacred Energy

Life energy.

It is the main energy used in the universe of Lartna Saga.

This pure and primordial energy evolves in the bodies of living creatures to eventually become four different forms of energy.

Among these four forms of energy, there are two that particularly caught my attention while studying magic and sacred energy.

Namely: Prana and Force.

I could have also been interested in aura, but I'm not yet qualified to invest my time in that... for now.

Why am I starting to talk about Prana and Force?

Simply because they are reproducible for me, and I needed another type of skill outside of those learned from paradise or my magic book.

So... I got inspired~

"What's happening?"

Aura looked at me and the golden cubes floating around us with disgust, but I ignored her and concentrated on what was in front of me.

During my reflections on the use of sacred energy, I noticed its similarity to the Prana of Ryu Hanbin's universe.

For example, both are focused on buffing allies, protection, and especially healing.

The only notable difference is the different use of the two energies by their users.

Where angels often use sacred energy in the form of spears, swords, or even arrows, the priests of the world of Lartna Saga are content to use their Prana only for healing and giving buffs (miracles)... except one.

The last man blessed by a goddess, known as Leonhart Catel Francis—or just Leonhart.

This man led me on an... inventive and creative path of using sacred energy.

Leonhart pushed his prana to such a high level that he could protect an entire city while fighting.

Above all, he had an infernal defense accompanied by an almost unmanageable regeneration.

Did I mention the self-buffs?

So, I started using my scientific knowledge to model several objects without altering the nature of sacred energy and preserving their ability.

In an attempt to imitate him, it became an important part of my fighting style, along with runic magic and my imitation of "Force" through magic.

The golden cubes began to change shape, eventually taking the form of machine guns, and only one approached me to become a golden spear.

Without hesitation, I rushed toward the area where the explosions were occurring.

"Stay away from the battlefield."

Of course, I ordered Aura to stay in a safe place.

"No need to tell me that."

I didn't really listen to her words, but I focused all my attention on a short man with an axe too big for him.

My priority mission is Aura's safety... but I want to see where I stand against people who have lived countless life-and-death battles.

After all, facing monsters and facing intelligent creatures are two different things.

Especially since I need to see if I can earn existence points here.

"System... activate the multiversal stream and notify me about quests."

[Baal's False Light has opened a stream.]

– Bam –

The ground cracked under the impact between his axe and my spear created from a barrier made of sacred energy.

It was impossible for me to make a surprise attack because of the light emitted by my weapons, so I had expected to be blocked by my target.

"I see... you're physically stronger," I said without hiding my frustration at this reality. But this was a planned situation.

I tilted my head slightly, just as the sacred energy I had launched at high speed behind me caught up.

"Tsk, missed."

But before my ruse could fall flat, an unknown force pulled the dwarf backward, and he was still grazed on the shoulder.

His injury wasn't a simple scratch, far from it.

Each ball fired by my floating machine guns isn't composed of pure sacred energy, like the arrows or spears usually used by angels.

They are first converted into a barrier of sacred energy, before taking the form of bullets... and they explode into several fragments at the slightest obstacle.

All this to maximize damage. Thanks to humanity for its ingenuity.

"Thank you Frieren... without you..." The short man had trembling hands as he looked at me, after thanking the little elf behind him.

Yet, he got up nonchalantly before throwing away his damaged shoulder pad, exposing the bruised flesh underneath.

"Heiter!!" A blue-haired man approached another dressed like a priest, before shaking him a bit.

During this entire operation, he didn't lower his guard for a single second.

"Huh?!" The man, finally identified as Heiter, seemed slightly surprised before putting his glasses back on and adopting a very serious look.

"This man, Himmel... he's a user of the goddess's magic, and he possibly has an even stronger blessing from the goddess than mine."

At first, the blue-haired man, designated as Himmel, displayed a confused face before taking on an expression of realization.

"Pause, pause!!!!"

"Huh?!"

Because of the absurdity of Himmel's gesture, I let out a stupid sound before frowning.

Despite my discontent, I decided to listen.

Anyway, I don't detect any disturbance in the mana in the area, nor any strange sound, apart from Aura's undead.

"Who are you, or rather, what are you? And why is a servant of the goddess fighting with demons?"

The person who spoke, cutting in front of Himmel, is none other than Frieren.

I couldn't help but carefully observe this girl who had literally set the Internet on fire in my past life.

A small elf with green eyes, thick eyebrows, with long silver hair parted in the middle and tied in two long pigtails.

I've always wondered why an elf would wear such... unique clothes?

"I'm not obligated to answer, am I?"

At my words, I felt her mana fluctuate slightly to reflect her mood, without affecting her current size and facial expression.

She really has exceptional control over that.

"However, I'm feeling in a trading mood," I said, making my spear disappear to show them my non-aggressive intention.

"What do you mean?"

Himmel took the bait. As expected from this naive hero.

"I'll answer all the questions of the person who defeats me."

"And what do you gain from all this?"

I smiled, looking at Heiter and Himmel.

I don't know if my smile looked suspicious, but they both backed away slightly, gripping their clothes and giving me a wary look.

"You idiots!! I just want to dispose of you two during your last living days in this world."

I rubbed my temple to calm my frustration.

After Kazuma, I now have to deal with two immature adults... I'm suffering!!!
