Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Sawyer Manor

"We're here."

Even though Roy deliberately slowed down, they still arrived at Sawyer Manor half an hour later.

"Already?"

Heather seemed a little reluctant, as she had really enjoyed talking to Roy on the way. Her good impression of him had grown rapidly, and she was almost unwilling to get out of the car.

A Cadillac was parked outside Sawyer Manor, and a friendly-looking, white-haired, portly old man got out of the car.

"Oh, Ms. Heather Sawyer, I thought you might not make it today!"

"Thanks to this gentleman, Mr. Roy, otherwise I might have taken a bit longer to find this place!"

Roy shook hands with the white-haired, fat old man.

"Hello, I'm Roy Black, a local from Falls Town."

"Oh, hello. My name is Nord, the Sawyer family's estate lawyer."

At this moment, Heather's companions also arrived.

"Wow, what a huge manor!"

Sawyer Manor could only be considered a medium-sized estate, but Heather and her friends were all from the city, living in small apartments. Seeing a manor with a Western-style house, a garden, and woods naturally made it feel very large to them.

"Ms. Sawyer, I will now hand over the will and the manor keys to you. Your grandmother also left you a letter; please remember to read it."

"Thank you, Attorney Nord!"

Heather took the will, keys, and letter, eager to go into the manor and take a look.

"Roy, would you like to come into the manor and have a look around?"

"I'd be honored!"

Heather smiled and used the key to open the large iron gate.

"Sesame, open!"

"Woohoo!"

Her companions had already excitedly driven their van into the manor grounds, and Heather got back into Roy's sports car.

Lawyer Nord watched Heather's departing figure with a meaningful expression.

"Good luck, little Heather."

The car drove for five minutes before reaching the building in the center of the manor. It was a magnificent and classic wooden villa, likely covering an area of over 500 square meters.

Heather opened the villa door. The interior decorations were equally luxurious, with solid wood furniture and silver tableware, clearly the kind of house only wealthy people could own.

"Wow! Heather, your grandmother seems really rich! I wish I could live in a house like this!"

Heather's female friend, Nikki, exclaimed sincerely, and the others had similar thoughts.

Especially Ryan and the other man; their eyes were filled with greed.

At this point, Roy remembered what movie this was.

If he wasn't mistaken, this should be the plot of the movie "Texas Chainsaw 3D," which could be considered Alexandra Daddario's breakthrough role.

It was in this movie that Alexandra showed some sideboob, which caused a sensation and led to her frequently playing the role of eye candy in films.

Roy in his previous life had also gotten to know Alexandra through this movie.

If he remembered correctly, Heather initially only had three companions. Someone joined them along the way, but he was actually a thief.

Roy naturally wouldn't miss this opportunity to gain Heather's favor by helping her expose the thief.

After observing them slightly, Nikki and the man who had been driving were a bit intimate, holding each other's waists, so it probably wasn't him.

And the jealous guy, Ryan, was Heather's simp, so it probably wasn't him either.

Then the only possibility was this blond, somewhat handsome man.

At this time, everyone else was already exploring the villa, but the blond man remained in the dining room, clearly having ulterior motives.

However, Roy didn't expose him immediately. He would wait until the guy started committing the crime to catch him red-handed.

As Heather wandered around, she came to the backyard of the villa. Surprisingly, there was a small cemetery, where the deceased members of the Sawyer family were buried.

Looking at a row of tombstones, the dates on them were all the same day.

"August 19th, they're all August 19th. Why did they all die on this day?"

This situation made Heather very strange, but Roy knew that this day was when the Sawyer family had almost been completely wiped out.

In the end, only Heather's grandmother and the chainsaw killer hiding in the villa's basement remained.

The white-haired lawyer from earlier seemed to be a member of the Sawyer family as well, but Roy wasn't entirely sure.

"What's wrong, Heather?"

"Nothing, I'm just curious why the members of the Sawyer family all died on the same day."

"Maybe something unexpected happened. I'll help you ask around later. The Sawyer family owns such a large estate; they should be somewhat famous locally."

Heather looked at Roy gratefully again.

"Roy, I really don't know how to thank you!"

Roy took a step closer to Heather, and the two were almost touching.

"Hmm—maybe you could treat me to dinner tonight as a thank you."

Heather bit her lip, her eyes seeming to water.

"But my cooking skills aren't very good; maybe I'll disappoint you!"

"It doesn't matter. What we eat isn't important; what's important is who we eat with."

Roy's words made Heather very happy, and the two started to get closer and closer.

At this moment, a buzzkill appeared.

Ryan, having changed his clothes that were stained with vomit, came out looking for Heather and saw Roy and Heather about to embrace.

Instantly, an inexplicable green flame started burning on Ryan's forehead.

"Hey, you! Get away from Heather!"

Heather was startled and immediately took a step back before seeing that it was Ryan who had spoken.

Ryan's behavior at the gas station had greatly disappointed Heather, so seeing him interrupt her and Roy, she said impatiently.

"Ryan, what's it to you?"

The meaning of her words was already quite clear; Heather wanted to cut ties with Ryan.

Hearing this, Ryan's already suppressed anger could no longer be controlled. He walked over and pointed at Heather.

"What's it to me? Heather, what did I come all the way from Los Angeles to this damn Texas for? You tell me!"

Heather of course understood what Ryan meant, but she had only ever considered Ryan a friend, and everything was just mutual help between friends.

"Don't be like this, Ryan! You, Nikki, Kenny, and the others are all my good friends!"

The classic "good friend card," with power comparable to the "nice guy card."

However, there are different kinds of good friends. People like Roy and Jennifer could be good friends who communicate in bed, but Ryan was clearly not that kind of good friend.

As a result, Ryan completely lost it.

"Slut! Bitch! Did you fall for this guy!"

Ryan spewed a torrent of nasty swear words, even fouler than his smell. Heather's eyes instantly welled up with tears from the insults.

Roy knew it was his turn to perform.

He took a step forward and landed a swift swing on Ryan's cheek, instantly sending several teeth flying out of his mouth.

This was the result of Roy holding back his strength. Otherwise, with his punching power, one punch would have been enough to knock Ryan unconscious.

"Bastard, apologize to Heather right now!"
