Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Emergency

Once again adrift at sea, it will take us a few weeks to reach Welliston, as the boat will be dedicated to traveling from island to island selling merchandise. It's both good and bad. Good because we can do what we always do: go to an island and do heroic things, you could put it that way. The bad thing is that it takes us a while to get there, and if the person who was there disappearing people leaves, it will be a waste of time heading there.

But I can't do anything. We can't hire any boat to go directly there. The only ones who would do that are pirates. But we can't hire them. We would lose a certain image, and it would make us look like fakes in light of all the actions we've taken.

If we can work with pirates, who's to say all our actions are fake or bought?

But back to today's main topic, I received the special Morgans pelican. It was one with a yellow hat, the only special thing, and a large bag to store things, or manuscripts in this case.

I already had something written. It was a collection of children's stories, including Little Red Riding Hood, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Hanzel and Gretel, Pinocchio, Aladdin and the Lamp, etc.

The idea is to start with something that parents would want to buy for their children, in addition to familiarizing young children with certain stories so they'll later be more accustomed to more fantasy stories. Adults can also enjoy these stories in certain ways. Start small.

I should also mention that all the books have my name as the author, the first being The Iliad, which Morgans has already published.

And speaking of publishing, today's newspaper is very special, as we're on the front page.

The Heroes of Paradise. A group of three warriors have been traveling throughout Paradise, helping the villagers wherever they visit, exterminating bandits, scaring off pirates, and even helping with simple things like hunting a great beast so that orphaned children can have plenty to eat. The actions of these heroes have touched the hearts of the people they meet. And all this led by a man named Dante. We can say he's the great hero of Paradise. We're waiting to see what will happen when they arrive in the new world.

I couldn't hold back my excitement; I jumped and shouted. Some people approached me to see what was happening, among them Arthur.

Dante: "Look, we're in the newspaper," I said happily.

Arthur: "Didn't we already appear in the newspaper?" I asked, a little confused.

Dante: "Yes, but this time it's different." I handed him the newspaper to read. Trini had just arrived. She also started reading it and looked at me.

Trini: "If it's different, why are they polishing your balls?"

(Note: I didn't know how to write that insult so everyone would understand it and it wouldn't sound so ugly.)

Dante: "That's not the important thing. Now we'll be more relevant. Common people will love us, and evildoers will fear us. This is something to celebrate."

T: "YES!!" Everyone on the boat shouted except Trini.

And the party began: alcohol, dancing, food, women, everything. Being the center of attention.

Dante: "Bring the most exotic wine and food you have," I said happily. The boat's chef looked at me doubtfully but did it anyway.

First, the wine arrived, very good. A little more bitter than expected, I honestly prefer the sweet. The food still arrived, just later, but with a warning.

Chef: "This is the most unusual meal I've ever made. This is the second time I've made it. It comes from two poisonous fish, neither of which are very harmful, but both together, I don't know how it would turn out." I can't be 100% sure it's free of all the poison, so I recommend not eating it."

Obviously I didn't hear him, so I grabbed the food in front of me, and just as I was about to eat it, Trini appeared.

Trini: "I don't think that's a good idea. I have a bad feeling."

I didn't feel anything. Maybe it's because I'm drunk, but that didn't matter.

Dante: "Relax, I'm the hero of Paradise. I'm unbeatable. Nothing can defeat me or stop me, especially not a plate of food." Completely ignoring Trini's opinion, I ate the exotic snack in front of me, and after that, everything went black.

Trinity POV.

I'd hate to beat Dante half to death, but sadly I can't since he's already in that state. You can't hit a sick person; it wouldn't be ethical.

If only he'd listened to me. When he ate that strange dish, nothing happened at first. After about 30 minutes, he said he felt weird, then his stomach started hurting, and then he started vomiting and fainted.

Unbelievable, he was poisoned, and in a way that no one on this ship can do anything about.

The poison acts in a way that prevents Dante from detoxing, so, from the beginning of the party until now, he's still drunk; he can't come out of that state. Also, every time we try to give him something to eat, he throws it up. He's practically eaten nothing.

There's no one on this ship with medical skills good enough to treat him. Since he can't eat normally, we've tried other methods, but none are very effective, but that's not the biggest problem.

Because he's been drunk, he's been in a hallucinogenic state, so there are times when we haven't been able to control him. Although it's hard for me to admit, he's the strongest on this ship; he's on a different level than us at the moment.

We've both been training hard: Arthur with his spear skills, and I with the pistols and rifle he gave me. But Dante hasn't stopped training either, so we haven't been able to reach his level yet.

Dante: "I'm Sonic, the fast-running talking hedgehog."

The hallucinations he suffers reach an incredible level. He suddenly leaves this world and imagines himself in another, sometimes based on stories he's told us and other times completely made up.

I went over to the ship's captain.

Trini: "Captain, I need you to travel to the nearest island as quickly as possible. You don't need to stay and wait for us. It's more than enough for the three of us to get off. Once that's done, you can leave immediately. He doesn't want you to try to cut the ship in two again."

He listened to me thoughtfully. He really didn't want us to leave his ship, but after what happened, I had to reconsider that option.

Captain: "Okay, there's an island near here that marks the log pose. We'll approach it so they can get off, and then we'll leave."

Trini: "Thank you."

They already had a path to follow. It takes a lot of eternal pose to follow those paths. Thank goodness they let us go to another island, deviating from their path.

It took about three hours to reach the nearest island. It was getting difficult to contain Dante. Now he thinks he's some kind of messiah who comes to heal the world. All his stupidity is multiplied by a thousand when he's both sick and drunk at the same time.

Once at the island's port, the three of us got off, thanked the ship's captain, and headed for the city center.

Arthur was leading Dante chained with the chains we used to keep him from going to the casinos, but they don't work as efficiently with him. The good thing is that he's more docile now. He was sad because he remembered the death of a certain Carlos. I didn't pay attention to him since he was an ant, from what I understood.

We were running around the place, unaware of the atmosphere, not to mention that Dante was drawing more attention to us than usual.

Hopefully, we'll find a doctor who can help us quickly and get us out of here.

Suddenly, I stopped, and by default, Arthur did too.

Arthur: "What happened?" he asks.

Trini: "I feel like someone's spying on us."

Arthur: "Should we do something?"

Trini: "Not right now. Going to the doctor to get Dante fixed is our priority."

And so we continued looking for a clinic, still feeling uneasy about the situation we found ourselves in.
