Chapter 72 - Secret Meeting

Mo Yuetian stood on the altar, continuously forming hand seals.

Soon, a familiar aura surged across space and time.

He attempted to establish a connection through the communication array.

"Black Demon, is that you?"

On the deserted island in the Tianxing Sea, a faint voice echoed from the altar. The Black Demon trembled with excitement, his words stumbling over themselves.

"Yes, Palace Master! Palace Master, it is I, Black Demon!"

Mo Yuetian immediately grasped the situation upon confirming the message.

He issued a swift command. "Remain where you are. I will locate the passage."

Without hesitation, he performed several complex calculations, his fingers moving rapidly through the air, tracing invisible patterns.

After a brief moment, he nodded to himself.

He stood up and flew away at full speed.

Half a day later, he arrived at a barren mountain range.

"This should be the place."

With a wave of his right hand, a pitch-black spear transformed into a streak of light, shooting into the distant void.

Boom—

The air trembled violently.

A massive black hole appeared before him.

Peering through the void, Mo Yuetian caught sight of a large altar on the other side.

However, before he could observe further, the black hole rapidly sealed itself shut.

The black spear returned to his grasp.

Frowning slightly, Mo Yuetian hurled it once more.

The black hole reappeared, then swiftly closed again.

He repeated the process several times, each attempt yielding the same result.

Pausing in deep thought, he performed more calculations, his brows furrowing.

"The spatial barrier here is indeed weak," he murmured. "But it seems the passage must be opened from the other side."

Despite his late-stage Mahayana cultivation—just one step away from transcending tribulation and ascending to the heavens—Mo Yuetian had limited knowledge of advanced spatial manipulation.

One hundred thousand years ago, the initial passage to Yufantian had been created through sheer luck.

Although the current spatial barrier was fragile, fully stabilizing a gateway seemed beyond his abilities.

This was likely a matter of higher-order spatial laws—something even he couldn't overcome.

"Perhaps the Black Demon should attempt it from their side."

Deciding quickly, Mo Yuetian turned and sped back toward the Demon Palace.

Upon arriving at the altar once more, he performed a set of hand seals and transmitted his message.

"Black Demon, the passage cannot be opened from the Demon Realm. You must take action on your end."

A voice responded eagerly, barely able to contain its excitement.

"Yes, Palace Master! Black Demon shall fulfill his mission!"

Just moments earlier, the Black Demon had watched enormous black holes repeatedly appear in the sky, believing that their return to the Demon Realm was imminent.

Now, it seemed that responsibility for opening the passage fell upon them.

But it didn't matter.

They had experience setting up the Tiangang World-Breaking Formation.

Their previous failures had only been due to choosing the wrong location.

Now that they had found a spatial weak point, as long as they executed their preparations meticulously, success was inevitable.

Just as the Black Demon was reveling in his excitement, he suddenly noticed something alarming.

The formation plate in his hands was riddled with cracks.

His expression darkened.

"Not good… The Wind Chime Magic Crystal is nearly depleted."

The Wind Chime Magic Crystal was a rare and precious material, essential for sustaining long-distance communication between worlds.

Unfortunately, this was their last one.

And due to the extensive energy consumption required to maintain the link with Mo Yuetian, it was now almost exhausted.

Had they used it more sparingly, a single Wind Chime Magic Crystal could have lasted for several transmissions.

"The connection is failing…"

Realizing this, the Black Demon hurriedly sent a final message.

"Palace Master, the Wind Chime Magic Crystal is nearly depleted. We will soon lose the ability to maintain communication."

Mo Yuetian's voice remained steady. "Understood. Prepare to set up the World-Breaking Formation. I will lead the army and wait here in a thousand years."

"Yes!"

As the connection severed, the Black Demon stared at the now-useless formation plate in his hands.

The once-glowing Wind Chime Magic Crystal was now covered in fine cracks.

He sighed.

"A thousand more years before we return to the Demon Realm…"

The other seven demons, however, were undeterred. Their eyes burned with excitement. After waiting for a hundred thousand years, what was another thousand?

They wasted no time.

According to Mo Yuetian's instructions, they needed to begin collecting materials and preparing to construct the Tiangang World-Breaking Formation.

That way, when the thousand years had passed, the passage would be fully operational, ready to welcome the army of the Demon Palace.

A Thousand Years of Secrecy

For the Black Demon and his subordinates, constructing the Tiangang World-Breaking Formation was not a difficult task.

The real challenge was ensuring secrecy.

If the Daosheng Sect discovered their plans, the consequences would be catastrophic.

Should the sect realize that a spatial weak point existed here, they would immediately station more guardians, making further attempts impossible.

Finding another weak point like this one would be near impossible.

Though this location was remote, the Black Demon remained uneasy.

They needed a more foolproof method.

Thinking carefully, he turned to Zhao Mingyue.

"Fairy Zhao, I will remain here and seal off an area of 100,000 miles. Do you have a way to ensure that the Daosheng Sect does not discover this place?"

Zhao Mingyue contemplated for a moment before responding.

"A thousand years is a long time. While this place is secluded, some elders of the Daosheng Sect enjoy roaming the world. If one happens upon this location, secrecy will be difficult to maintain."

If ordinary cultivators stumbled upon them, it wouldn't be an issue.

They could simply kill anyone who got too close before they had the chance to spread the news.

But members of the Daosheng Sect were a different matter.

Especially its elders.

Even if they killed an elder, it would be impossible to keep it a secret.

The Daosheng Sect's communication network was too advanced. As long as its members remained in Yufantian, they could contact each other instantly.

Zhao Mingyue sighed.

"How about we leave this place temporarily and return a thousand years later to set up the formation?"

If absolute secrecy couldn't be guaranteed, then it might be better to leave the site undisturbed until the time was right.

However, the Black Demon immediately rejected the idea.

"No. If we abandon this location, I won't be able to rest easy."

Zhao Mingyue frowned slightly.

Since he insisted on guarding the location, but also didn't want to be discovered, there was only one solution.

"In that case, the only option is to divert the Daosheng Sect's attention."

The Black Demon's eyes gleamed with interest. "How?"

She smirked.

"To keep the Daosheng Sect preoccupied, we must continue setting up Tiangang World-Breaking Formations in other locations. If we activate them frequently enough, summoning waves of demons, the sect will be too busy dealing with them to bother investigating this place."

The Black Demon immediately agreed.

Even though their previous attempts had failed, each one had successfully lured large numbers of demons into Yufantian.

Although most of the summoned demons were low-level, dealing with them had kept the Daosheng Sect occupied for years.

Every time the Daosheng Sect mobilized to eradicate the invading demons, it took them decades to clean up the mess.

The Black Demon made up his mind.

They would open a temporary passage every few decades.

And as for the materials required for the formations?

That wasn't his concern.

Zhao Mingyue, as leader of the Demon God Cult, had the means to acquire them.

All the Black Demon needed to do was assign someone to mark the coordinates and activate the formations.

This time, they would succeed.
