The corridor stretched out before them, dark and silent, lit only by the faint golden gleam of the coins Greed had dropped in her wake. A trail both tempting and dangerous, leading them into the unknown, toward the creature's lair, or perhaps an even more elaborate trap .
Laura and Ethan moved forward cautiously, close to the wall, their senses sharpened, listening to every sound, observing every shadow.
The silence was oppressive, broken only by the creaking of their footsteps on the wooden floor and the rapid beating of their hearts.
The tension was palpable, like an invisible thread tightening with every step they took.
The corridor branched into several paths, creating a confusing and threatening maze.
The gold coins scattered in different directions, like breadcrumbs left by a cunning predator, guiding them toward different possible destinations. Which path to follow? What was the trap, and what was the way out ?
" What do we do now, Laura?" Ethan whispered , his voice barely audible, " Where do we go?"
Laura observed the different paths, trying to decipher the logic of the coin trail, searching for any clue that would point them in the right direction. But the maze seemed chaotic and random , with no clear pattern , perhaps designed to disorient and confuse its prey.
"I don't know , Ethan ... it seems ... random," Laura responded , with a doubtful tone, "Maybe ... Greed wants us to get lost ... separate ... to hunt us down more easily ."
Ethan nodded slowly, understanding the macabre logic of the game. "Then ... we must stick together. No matter which path we follow, we have to do it together. And be prepared for ... anything." He gripped the chair tighter , ready to defend himself against any sudden attack.
They decided to follow the trail of coins that seemed to lead into the house, away from the main entrance, deeper into the mansion . The hallway narrowed , turning into a dark, narrow corridor, with walls covered in faded tapestries and old portraits that seemed to stare at them with accusing eyes.
The atmosphere became even more oppressive and stifling. The air became heavy and dense, permeated with a smell of dampness and ancient dust. The sensation of being watched intensified , as if the walls themselves had eyes, as if the entire house were alive and aware of their presence.
Suddenly, a soft, melodious sound broke the silence. A faint, distant sound , like an old-fashioned music box , coming from somewhere further down the hall.
A melody that was both childish and gloomy , which resonated strangely in the oppressive atmosphere of the mansion .
Laura and Ethan stopped in their tracks, paralyzed by the unexpected sound. What was that music ? Another of Greed's traps ? Or a sign , a clue … maybe even hope?
" Do you hear that, Ethan?" Laura whispered , her voice breaking. " What is that music ?"
Ethan nodded slowly, his gaze fixed on the dark hallway, "Yeah … I can hear it … it sounds like … a music box …" Do you think it is … Greed? "
Laura shrugged , unable to decipher the riddle. "I don't know ... but ... the gold coins ... are also heading that way ... Maybe ... he wants to lure us toward the music ... Maybe it 's part of his game."
to advance even more cautiously , following the trail of coins and the haunting melody , prepared to face whatever surprise awaited them at the end of the corridor.
The music grew louder as they advanced, enveloping them in an unreal and disturbing atmosphere, mixing the temptation of gold with the mystery of melody , guiding them towards the heart of the labyrinth of greed, where the game of Greed was about to reach its climax.
