Chapter 2 - New Boss

Bonnie Wesley sweetly commented under the reposted X post: "Thank you, Dad."

Netizens: "???!?!!!"

User A: "That can't be the 'Dad' I'm thinking of, right? Is this a joke?"

User B: "No way! Absolutely not! She must've landed herself a sugar daddy! Is no one regulating these homewreckers anymore?"

User C: "Probably hacked Mr. Wesley's account. Bonnie is so shameless. She'll do anything for fame. Doesn't she realize the Wesley Group's elite legal team could crush her?"

User D: "Trash Bonnie! Trash Bonnie! Get out of the entertainment industry! OUT OUT OUT!"

User E: "If she's really Mr. Wesley's daughter, why would she be struggling like this? Does she think we're idiots? Pfft!"

User F: "Uh… did anyone else notice… they have the same last name?"

But F's comment quickly got buried under the flood of hate.

Five minutes later.

A lawyer's letter was freshly posted. Mr. Wesley himself shared it and added just two words: "My daughter."

The internet: "..."

That night, hashtags like #BonnieWesleyDad, #BonnieHeirToFortune, #WesleyGroupCEO, #EastvisionFilmsMedia, #BonnieBackgroundRevealed, and #RichAndBeautifulBonnie exploded across the trending charts.

X crashed. Again.

Under the news posts, the comments section went wild.

[WTF, am I hallucinating? That girl who was accused of chasing after a top star is actually a rich heiress? Is it me who's crazy, or the whole world?]

[Wesley Group's daughter? Are we talking the Wesley Group, the multi-billion dollar empire with the ridiculously handsome CEO and the charity-loving wife? They have a daughter? And it's BONNIE?]

[How is a bombshell like this being dropped by the person involved? Are all the paparazzi dead?]

[Then what the hell was Bonnie doing chasing Allan? Was she out doing charity work for struggling celebs?]

[LOL I'm dead. Allan worked so hard to distance himself from her. Bet he's crying now. Missed his shot at marrying into money!]

[Watch your mouth. Our Allan doesn't need that dirty money! Bonnie's nothing but a clingy gold-digger!]

[Exactly! So what if she's rich and pretty? She was still throwing herself at our idol. What kind of heiress acts that cheap? She's just shameless. SHAMELESS SHAMELESS SHAMELESS.]

That last comment was instantly met with ruthless mockery from passersby.

[Oh please. Fans, maybe shut up before you get your idol blacklisted. Do you even know the power the Wesley Group holds? They could erase him with one phone call.]

[Who knows, your precious star might be crying right now, begging the Wesleys to take him in as a son-in-law. That's if they'll even have him! Hahahaha.]

[Fans, zip it. At least leave him some dignity. Climbing into high society isn't as easy as it looks.]

The fans tried desperately to control the comments, but it was no use. The sheer volume of neutral users' likes and replies completely overran them. The comment section descended into chaos.

Just then, a random user posted something that immediately caught everyone's attention.

@FallingLeavesWithTheWind: "Wait a sec. CEO of Eastvision Films Media… doesn't that make Bonnie the new boss of some of the very stars, directors, and idols who trashed her?"

The comment section fell utterly silent.

Just as Bonnie Wesley arrived home, she was caught off guard by a pair of deep, indifferent eyes.

She froze. A second later, a piercing scream echoed through the villa.

"Ahhh—!"

Amidst the noise, Derek Lee calmly buttoned up his shirt. His slender, fair fingers moved unhurriedly from the bottom to the top, each motion graceful and composed.

A housekeeper rushed over, alarmed. "What's wrong, Miss Bonnie?"

Bonnie pointed furiously at the tall, handsome man in front of her. "Why is he in my room?!"

And shirtless, no less!

The housekeeper glanced at Derek and hesitated. "Uh… well…"

Derek, slipping on his watch without even lifting his gaze, replied coolly, "Technically, this is my room."

Bonnie: "???"

He walked past her, long legs carrying him steadily down the stairs.

"Derek, stop right there!"

Her phone rang. Bonnie picked up in a huff. "Hello? Dad! Why is this bastard Derek in our house? How could you just let a beast walk in like that?!"

Seated at the dining table, the man glanced up at her with a cool expression.

Bonnie glared back without backing down.

Whatever Mr. Wesley said on the other end made her face gradually shift. She hung up, took a few stiff steps toward Derek, and asked in disbelief, "You bought our villa?"

"Six months ago," he replied flatly.

"Are you insane?"

"…"

Derek picked up his chopsticks, not bothering to look at her. "Uncle said you're planning to leave the entertainment industry and join the family business. Finally couldn't make it in showbiz?"

Before Bonnie could respond, he added, "Didn't you once swear you'd make it big in the entertainment world without using the Wesley name? Now you've been taught a hard lesson by society?"

Bonnie lunged at him, furious. "I'll strangle you!"

Derek let out a low chuckle, his voice deep and magnetic. His pitch-black eyes locked on hers, unflinching.

Dressed in a crisp white shirt, with finely sculpted features and captivating eyes, he stared at her intently. Bonnie's heart skipped. Just before she made contact, she abruptly stopped herself and snapped, "You've contaminated my hands!"

Derek stared at her for a few seconds, the corner of his mouth twitching.

Their story went back to childhood. Growing up as neighbors, they were childhood sweethearts. As Derek matured, he became increasingly alluring, attracting countless admirers. Being a looks-driven girl, Bonnie had set her sights on him early. He was the best-looking boy next door.

She snagged him in middle school.

They say school romances are the purest, most precious. She and Derek dated for eight years, from ninth grade through college. But the breakup had been messy. Since then, she'd found him increasingly insufferable. "Ex" didn't even begin to describe it, they were more like mortal enemies now.

"How much did you pay for the villa? I'll reimburse you."

He scoffed lightly, eating with elegance. "Do I look like I need the money?"

Bonnie was exasperated. "What is wrong with you? Why would you buy my house?"

"Better question. Why did your dad sell it to me?" He finally looked up at her.

Bonnie was instantly speechless.

Mr. Wesley had always adored this wolf in sheep's clothing. Even after the breakup, he kept trying to push them back together. Annoyed, she fled abroad for two years. Upon returning, she refused to join the company and went straight into entertainment.

Who would've thought her dad would pull this kind of stunt behind her back?

Bonnie snapped, "Fine. What will it take for you to move out?"

Derek gave her a sidelong glance. "Wouldn't it be simpler if you packed your bags and left?"
