Chapter 32 - Stealing His Life

The soothing melody of the song floated through the room softly, bringing listeners back to the nostalgic memories of old times— when Calonia stepped out of an era of violence and bloodshed and embraced peace— for the young generation this was just a boring song, but for old people who had witnessed the deaths, the horrors of war, the separation, the hardship— this was more than just a song, it was a new dawn, freedom, a song of peace and bittersweet memories.

Suddenly the song came to halt, after a jagged sound that didn't fit in with the tone.

"You missed a key," Ian didn't need to turn to see the disappointment in his mother's eyes, "again." She added sharply.

"It was a mistake." Ian said softly. His wrists ached and his body protested from the rigid form he had been forced to keep for hours— Ian was not a professional pianist, he had taken the piano as a hobby when he had been younger, but like everything else his mother wanted him to be perfect at it.
