King Killian stood on top of a mountain, observing the land's ruins, a calm satisfaction settling over him as he admired the chaos he had made a thousand years ago, when he had annihilated a whole city just for the fun of it.
At that moment, the city could be called…a lost city, a town that had never existed. It's been a thousand years and the city has been scraped out of maps. No one even knew such a city existed.
King Killian stood tall, observing every inch of the scattered land, his cloak flowing graciously behind him, as a cold wind whipped around him, carrying the faint, almost forgotten whispers of the souls he had destroyed.
There were a few other cities King Killian had destroyed, but the City of Beldaria was his favorite place to visit as it was his birth town and the first city he had ever destroyed. King Killian felt a sense of calmness when he recalled the time the chaos had unfolded. This was exactly what he needed…the calmness he got from this.
The past few weeks have been insanely torturous for King Killian, and he needed to clear his head. It was very rare to see him frustrated, as he always got whatever problems he had fixed almost immediately. He only started feeling confused and frustrated a few days ago, thanks to Elena.
It was bad.
King Killian has never had to lie to anyone to do what he wanted to, but that day, he lied to Elena, letting her believe that he was going to a council meeting. It was this bad. A man like him should not have to lie!
Why did he even lie? What was the point? These were questions he could not even answer.
King Killian couldn't help but shove his fingers through his hair in distress as he thought back on his wife. He could now finally admit that making her fall in love with him could be dangerous. Not because she was not complying, but because he was somehow getting affected.
The King was a charmer, he could easily seduce anyone, but he had not been able to seduce or make Elena 'beg for his touch' like he had claimed, and this was because his heart would fucking leap like it was broken whenever he was near her.
Or was it broken?! Maybe it was.
At first, King Killian never cared about sleeping next to Elena every night, but for some reason, it became a struggle. Could she be a witch?! Was she trying to charm him?
Well, too bad for her because the Death God would never fall for such lame magic spells. It could simply be because it had been a long time since he was with a woman, and Elena's presence was affecting him just a tiny bit. Yes. This was it.
"I just have to press down these insignificant things I feel and go on with the plan." King Killian thought to himself. Little did he know that things would not be as easy as he thought.
King Killian wanted to go down to the heart of the city just so he could check the place out to see if he could find an old peice that he could add to his collections of ancient artifacts. However, just as he moved s step forward, he felt his heart skip a beat. He frowned, annoyed by how this heart always seemed to hurt lately. He wanted to move forward but caught a glimpse of Elena in his mind and then the pain came again.
"Elena?" King Killian muttered, raising a brow in confusion. Before he could think about it, he turned around, sprinting off as he made his way to the palace.

"Irene, are you okay now?" Elena asked with concern as she noticed Irene walking back into the garden.
"Yes, my Queen, I'm fine," Irene replied as she bowed her head in respect. "I'm sorry for the way I left my Queen." She added, her face turning red with shame. She could not believe she had acted in such a manner in front of the Queen.
"It's fine, Irene, I'm just glad you're fine," Elena muttered, smiling. "And for someone who ran off like that, I expected you to spend at least thirty minutes there. It's good you came back on time though, it means it's not something serious."
Irene raised a brow, then she averted her gaze from the Queen to warrior Ruko, who had an unreadable expression, before glancing back at the Queen. "U-uhm, I spent like an hour in the restroom my Queen."
"What? That's not right, you left here a minute ago," Elena countered, her brows furrowing in confusion as she glanced at Ruko, who remained silent.
Irene was too stunned to even argue. She stared at the Queen in worry, wondering how she did not notice a whole hour pass by. "Or am I making a mistake?" Irene thought, imagining if perhaps the pain she felt in the restroom made it feel like she'd spent an hour there, but when she checked her phone, she realized that she had indeed spent an hour in the restroom.
Irene noticed the stunned expression on Queen Elena's face as she gave the phone for her to see for herself and this made her even more worried.
"Wow, it's indeed been an hour. I didn't even notice it." Elena muttered as she stretched the phone back to Irene. "I guess I got lost in my thoughts. Or maybe I fell asleep, "she added. It was the only possible sane explanation she could give at that moment.
It could happen, right?
Meanwhile, warrior Ruko's blood was boiling with anger, but he managed a calm expression. His plan had failed that day, and he was very angry.
While one might think warrior Ruko was driven by his foolishness, he actually had a very good plan on how to have a taste of Elena. Yes, he took precautions, very good ones, so he would not get caught by King Killian.
Aside from the witch giving him a powder that would make Elena unconscious, she also added some kind of warning thing to the powder.
Earlier, while warrior Ruko was taking his time to admire Elena's body, she suddenly heard Elena whisper the King's name and according to the witch, it was a warning and meant that the King was on his way. The warrior did not need to be told twice, he quickly got dressed, and then sat Elena on the bench after which she woke up three minutes later.
It was a close one, and although Ruko was grateful, he was still very angry for failing that day. However, this was not going to stop him, he was going to have another chance very soon.
Speaking of Killian, the Alpha King barged into the garden, his face hard as it always was, but there was something else different. He looked worried.
Nah. The Death God can never be worried about anyone.
"Elena, what happened?" He suddenly asked as he grabbed Elena's shoulder, lifting her up from the bench. He spun her around, checking everywhere around her, shocking both Elena and Irene.
"I-i." Elena tried to speak but was too startled. However, she quickly replied. "I'm fine Killian, is there a problem?"
King Killian released her, lowering her gently back onto the bench. His piercing gaze lingered on her for a moment, searching for any sign of distress. Once he was satisfied she was unharmed, his attention shifted to the warrior standing stiffly beside her.
Warrior Ruko swallowed hard, a cold sweat breaking out across his forehead.
It took everything in him not to move back as King Killian began walking towards him. He maintained a straight face, trying his best not to look suspicious. But it looked like the King suspected him.
Impossible!
Just as Ruko began to convince himself he was safe, the King said something that made his knee go numb.
"Why do I smell my wife's scent all over you?"
