In Aether Camp, Victor sat behind a simple wooden desk in his office. The room was quiet, save for the soft hum of the wind outside.
Opposite him stood Alex, tall and composed, hands folded behind his back as he delivered his report.
"They should have nearly reached Zone 8 by now," Alex said, his voice calm. "The conquest may begin today."
Victor nodded slowly, not saying a word. His expression was unreadable, as always.
He leaned back slightly in his chair, looking at the map on the table in front of him, where the surrounding zones were marked with different colored pins.
Both Victor and Alex had stayed behind to oversee Aether Camp's internal affairs. Though they had enough soldiers stationed at the camp, an extra layer of security was always good.
Besides, if Victor left the camp entirely, it might cause unease among the people. Seeing their leader present gave them a sense of stability.
