Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Three Thousand Six Hundred Revolutions in One Breath, Great Compassion Saves the World

Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!

The roar of the chainsaw magic sword echoed like a beast awakened from a nightmare. The deep purple blade shimmered with an unnatural luster, its edge spinning violently as if it could tear apart the very fabric of reality. It exuded a terrifying, domineering aura—one that seemed to declare that nothing in this world could withstand its wrath.

With a wide grin plastered across his face, Alhaitham swung the massive sword with reckless abandon. The elegance and precision of his earlier swordsmanship had vanished, replaced by a brutish, overwhelming ferocity. Gone was the calculated swordsman—before them now stood a war god wielding chaos itself.

"Ora ora ora ora! Stop dodging, coward! If you're a man, fight me head-on!" he bellowed.

Each slash of his blade sent tremors through the battlefield, the sheer pressure from the weapon forcing the air to ripple. Just the aura from the weapon was enough to make even the bravest warriors hesitate.

Across from him, Sid Cagenor grit his teeth, barely managing to evade the berserk swings. But despite his best efforts, he couldn't avoid them all. Every few seconds, the spinning edge would graze him, sending sparks and slime flying.

The proud slime suit he had meticulously crafted was falling apart.

Originally, the suit was his masterpiece. As a semi-liquid construct, it could easily repair itself—even if pierced or slashed, it would reform moments later. Water could flow, merge, and heal. But Alhaitham's chainsaw sword had rendered that irrelevant.

Every time the blade touched the suit, it didn't just damage—it neutralized. The energy behind the weapon seemed to destroy the kinetic cohesion of the slime, preventing it from regenerating. And worse still, Alhaitham had embedded a fire-elemental spirit stone within the blade. Every slash now carried with it intense heat that evaporated the slime on contact.

"I can't believe it... my greatest creation has such a glaring weakness," Sid muttered in disbelief. "Why didn't I notice this earlier?!"

Of course, there was a reason. Until now, Sid had never faced someone like Alhaitham. Most of his previous test subjects were thieves or low-level magic swordsmen who lacked true elemental power.

"You did good work with the suit," Alhaitham said mid-swing, "but you chose the wrong material. Fire, water, lightning, wind, grass, and ice-based slimes all have elemental vulnerabilities. Only the rock-elemental slime is stable enough to withstand elemental reactions. That's the foundation of a perfect defensive suit."

Sid clenched his fists. "If only I'd realized that sooner..."

Alhaitham laughed. "No worries. Lose to me today, and I'll help you improve it later."

Sid twitched in irritation. As someone who aspired to embody the Power in Shadows, defeat was never an option. If he couldn't win, then he wasn't worthy of the title. The idea of losing—even once—was unbearable.

Believe in yourself.

Push through your limits. Human potential shines brightest in moments of crisis!

This is the turning point—find a way to win!

Retreat was never part of Sid's vocabulary. Not for a man who would become a true king. And kings never back down.

There's always another way.

Even without a sword… I will still be the strongest!

Accepting the reality of his disadvantage in close combat, Sid made a split-second decision. He abandoned his sword—the weapon he was most proficient with—and leapt backwards, putting distance between him and Alhaitham.

The slime suit responded to his will. It began to melt, reshape, and reform—slime tendrils transformed into streams of high-velocity liquid, forming into dozens of pressurized bullets.

"Oh? Switching to long-range attacks now?" Alhaitham raised an eyebrow. "A smart move. That slime suit is surprisingly versatile."

Sid quickly stripped down his suit, removing unnecessary parts like the cape, collar, and decorative accessories. Vanity was a luxury he couldn't afford anymore. All of it was converted into ammunition. While Sid had designed the outfit to look cool and intimidating—vital for someone with a dramatic title like "Shadow Sovereign"—none of that mattered now.

"If I can't beat you up close, I'll kite you from a distance," Sid declared. "Each slime bullet is infused with my magic. If you're not wearing armor, you'll be riddled with holes!"

Alhaitham observed quietly. "Your determination is admirable… but you're frowning."

Sid flinched.

"Your ideal image of a strong hero is someone who defeats threats head-on, right?" Alhaitham smirked. "But now, you're running and sniping. That must really sting."

"…Tch. I suppose I haven't trained enough."

"You haven't," Alhaitham said flatly. "And unfortunately for you, you won't get another chance to."

With one hand, Alhaitham slashed through the incoming slime bullets effortlessly. With the other, he reached into his inventory.

The grin that spread across his face was positively diabolical.

"You want to play long-range games? Sure. I'll play with you until you beg for mercy."

Sid's pupils shrank as he saw what came out next.

"No… No way… You actually built that?!"

"Oh yes," Alhaitham chuckled. "With the knowledge I brought from my past life, a genius sister, and a group of insane inventor subordinates, anything's possible."

What emerged was a monster of a weapon: jet-black metal, six massive barrels, each longer than a grown man. The sheer length of the weapon was over seven meters. It was heavier, louder, and more insane than the chainsaw sword before it.

Anyone familiar with modern warfare would immediately recognize it. It was a modified Gatling gun—the kind used for anti-aircraft defense.

This one had been remade for magical warfare. It wasn't just a gun. It was a divine instrument of destruction.

"Namo Gatling Bodhisattva," Alhaitham intoned dramatically. "With six pure depleted uranium barrels… 3,600 revolutions in one breath… I shall save the world with compassion!"

He smiled wickedly.

"Hi bro. Are you ready to repent?"

Sid's jaw dropped.

Alhaitham pulled the trigger.

Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta!!!

A storm of bullets erupted. The sheer firepower shook the earth. The deafening roar echoed for miles. It was overwhelming—something no ordinary person could even comprehend, much less withstand.

Sid's instincts screamed at him.

He ran.

There was no shelter. No cover. No bunker that could stop this madness.

"THIS IS CHEATING!" Sid screamed, dodging like his life depended on it—because it did. "What kind of fighting style is this?! Have you never heard of fair combat?!"

Alhaitham laughed maniacally. "I don't care. Times have changed. This is the new era!"

Sid zigzagged frantically. Though his sword skills might have let him deflect bullets in theory, these were not ordinary bullets. The Gatling spun at 3,600 RPM. Holding out for ten seconds would mean being hit by hundreds of rounds.

His slime suit might have decent durability, but at most it could withstand 100 rounds. After that, it would dissolve under the impact force. Every hit was another step toward death.

He had no choice but to dodge with everything he had.

"This guy… definitely has firepower phobia!" Sid realized. "It's so obvious! There's no way he wasn't a flower farmer before reincarnation!"

"Haha, good eye!" Alhaitham called out mid-barrage. "You're not wrong!"

The battle had become pure chaos—slime bullets flying one way, uranium rounds flying the other. Magic mixed with madness. Philosophy was drowned out by firepower.

Even from a distance, Ayato, watching through a magical lens, sighed. "...Alhaitham is doing it again."

Beside him, Cyno muttered, "He's supposed to be fighting with strategy and elegance, but ends up nuking everything instead."

"I suppose that's his strategy," Ayato said. "Unleash hell, then talk about mercy."

Cyno grinned. "You have to admit—he does save the world. Just not gently."
