Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Trap of Mirrors

Daeshim and Elira once again stood before the portal, ready to re-enter the Necravor world. This time, the situation was far more dangerous — the Necravors had stationed many more forces after what Daeshim had done last time, killing one of their commanders right inside their own domain.

They knew if they tried to fight their way through openly, it would be useless — no matter how many Necravors they killed, the enemy's numbers would never truly thin. So, they decided to move in secret.

Carefully, they sneaked through the shadows, hiding from the ever-watchful eyes of the Necravors. After moving deeper into the cursed land, they came across a broken city — a place abandoned and cloaked in a dense fog. The streets were empty, silent as death itself.

Daeshim and Elira exchanged wary glances, both extremely alert to their surroundings.

After wandering cautiously through the ghost town, they spotted a single intact building in the middle of the ruins — a towering structure that seemed strangely untouched.

Without hesitation, they decided to enter.

But as soon as they stepped inside, they realized something was wrong.

"This place…" Daeshim muttered, his voice low. "It's much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. What kind of magic is this?"

Elira's eyes narrowed. "It's probably an illusion," she said. "The kind of power 'Velgroth' possesses. This must be his territory."

Daeshim clenched his fists. "How do we defeat him?"

Elira looked serious. "Velgroth is incredibly arrogant about his power. He can trap anyone inside his mirror illusions. He creates countless mirrors — but they don't reflect reality. Instead, they show whatever Velgroth wants you to see. He himself hides behind one of these mirrors."

Daeshim frowned. "How will we find the right mirror?"

Elira shook her head. "The mirror he hides behind will be... different. Somehow. I don't know exactly how, but we'll recognize it when we see it."

With no better plan, they moved forward, navigating through endless mirrors. At times, their reflections looked twisted, grotesque, or completely different — designed to disorient them.

Frustrated, Daeshim finally unleashed a flurry of attacks using his flame-infused powers, blasting in all directions. One of the mirrors shattered.

Excitement shot through both of them.

They rushed into the passage behind the broken mirror — only to find themselves immediately surrounded by dozens of Necravors.

Without hesitation, Daeshim drew his twin swords, both glowing with an intense blue flame.Across from him, Elira summoned red, crackling orbs of magic into her palms.

The two moved like whirlwinds, slicing and blasting through the enemy ranks at terrifying speeds.Within minutes, every Necravor in the room had fallen.

But even as they caught their breath, the dead Necravors began to stir — slowly regenerating.

Before the creatures could fully rise again, Daeshim spotted a staircase spiraling upwards. He grabbed Elira's hand, and the two raced upward, leaving the reviving corpses behind.

At the top of the stairs, the Necravors strangely did not follow.

Daeshim raised an eyebrow. "Feels like we're being toyed with."

Elira nodded grimly. "Yeah. It's a game to them."

Daeshim smirked. "Fine. Let's play. And we'll beat them at their own game."

They climbed higher and higher, fighting through ambushes that kept trying to wear them down.Every time they defeated a group of Necravors, a new stairway would appear, taking them further upward.

It wasn't long before Daeshim spotted something odd.One mirror above them — it didn't seem like the others. It shimmered differently, almost alive.

He turned to Elira. "I think that's it."

Before she could respond, Daeshim moved closer — grabbing her hand in the process.

Elira felt a shock. It was the first time Daeshim had ever been so close — she could see his sharp eyes, his handsome face up close, and for a heartbeat, she forgot everything else.

When she snapped out of it and looked forward again, Velgroth was standing right in front of them.

"How did he—?" Elira whispered, startled.

"I'll explain later," Daeshim said. "Just tell me — the mirror on his head, that's the target, right?"

Elira nodded, still wide-eyed.

In an instant, Daeshim disappeared from her view, reappearing behind Velgroth.

Without hesitation, he slashed the mirror on Velgroth's head with his flaming sword.

Daeshim's eyes glowed a deep, menacing purple as he smiled wickedly, not even turning to look at Velgroth's stunned face.

In a storm of slashes, Daeshim shredded Velgroth into pieces.

As Velgroth died, the entire illusion shattered around them.

But when they stepped outside, the thick, choking fog still remained.

Elira stiffened. "There were two commanders. We've only killed one — and the weaker one at that."

Daeshim grimaced. "If this was the weaker one, then what the hell is the other like?"

Regardless, the battle had been won — for now.

Daeshim absorbed Velgroth's power. He felt it sink deep into his veins, strange and potent.

Then, stepping forward, Daeshim whispered one name under his breath — "Vel'Zar."

At that moment, the dark voice answered him again.

"The power you have just absorbed grants you dominion over the Mirror Illusion," the voice whispered."You can trap your enemies inside an illusion of your creation. Once trapped, it is almost impossible for them to escape. You can strike them, manipulate them... bend their minds. Use it well."

Daeshim absorbed every word carefully, then continued ascending with Elira.

At the very top floor, a tall figure stood with his back turned, gazing out into the fog.

Another Necravor commander.

As Daeshim and Elira approached, the commander spoke without turning around.

"So, you defeated Velgroth," he said, voice cold and mocking. "You must be powerful… or perhaps just lucky. But as I see now, there are two of you — and one of you belongs to us."

Elira flinched at the words.

The commander chuckled. "No matter. We'll deal with the traitor too."

Without warning, he attacked — but not at Daeshim.

He lunged straight for Elira.

In an instant, Daeshim moved between them, catching the attack with one hand.Elira stared in shock at Daeshim, who didn't even flinch under the force of the blow.

Daeshim smirked. "You were right, Elira. I'm not just powerful…I'm smarter than you can even imagine."

With a swift move, Daeshim countered — blasting the commander backward.

The Necravor flew across the rooftop, skidding across the stones.

Daeshim appeared above him instantly. "And Elira is no traitor. She was made into what she is by force. She stays. But you—"Daeshim smashed his foot into the Necravor's chest, cracking the stone beneath them — "—you won't."

Before the commander could react, Daeshim unleashed his newly awakened Mirror Illusion.

The world twisted around the Necravor — trapping him inside a mirror maze of Daeshim's making.

Daeshim moved at superhuman speeds, attacking from all sides.

Yet despite his attacks, the commander remained standing, taking every hit without falling.

Elira called out urgently, "That's Skar'Ven! His strength increases every time he gets hit! That's why he's not fighting back!"

Daeshim halted immediately.

"Then how do we kill him?" he demanded.

Elira shouted, "You have to cut off his head! But be warned — his neck is protected by a metal armor tougher than anything a human or even a Necravor can cut!"

Daeshim smiled darkly. "Good thing I'm neither."

With a roar, Daeshim struck at the commander's neck.

Skar'Ven caught the blade easily, smirking.

"So, you know my secret," he said. "But it won't save you."

Daeshim narrowed his eyes. "We'll see."
