Chapter 22 - Winter Break

"So you won't the competition? That's great! Congratulations!"

Evervine looked up at Marcel with a frown. "You say that like you're surprised. Of course she won. She didn't even have an real competition. To bad we won't be old enough to participate in the Wizarding tournaments."

Evervine looked off dreamily. Hazel smiled. She knew her friend well and she did not need to look at her to know she was daydreaming about winning the transfiguration cups for new competitor and most original competitor.

Well she cheated and saw a few of her dreams too.

"The Wizarding Tournaments?"

"It's similar to the mundane Olympics in En Dimension."

"Does Hogwarts have something like that?"

Hazel scrunched up her nose in thought. "You have the Triwizard Tournament, but it is slightly different because it is only three schools involved."

"Only three schools involved?! What do you mean?"

Hazel shrugged as she studied the Tan Wizarding Chess board. How did she end up playing both Ron and Harry at the same time? They didn't even play the same and ended up discussing their next move for a very long time.

Hazel allowed herself to be distracted so that she could answer Evervine's question. "The Triwizard Tournament is just for three rival schools in an area on earth called Europe. It dates back a long time ago and it is a friendly way for the schools, or the old rivals to show who is the best.

"But I suspect that there is nothing like Tan Wizarding Tournaments because it would be too big and perhaps to hard to hide from the mundane folk."

Everyone nodded at that.

"So you were attacked twice?"

"Maybe just once. The drink was never verified."

Evervine rolled her eyes and looked at Hermione.

"I agree with you it was at least two times. Her discernment is too acute to be wrong and they probably had to cancel their plans when two fell through."

Hazel didn't comment but she felt the same way about the subject.

"Are you still going to Hogwarts for second half of Christmas break?"

"Sadly no." She paused a while as she moved several pieces around the board. Everyone had froze and were looking her with shocked looks on their faces. "My mother wants me there transfiguration model."

She shook her head. "I should never have demonstrated my transfiguration skills." She scoffed at Harry's look. "Mother wants me there the first week as well so I can help in a few divination classes. It seems the professor needs some rest. I don't know. I think she may be showing me off to her friends a bit."

"Professor McGonagall showing off?"

Ron was bewildered and just stood staring into space.

"I have your king. You two should practice together before you try playing together."

Harry and Ron looked stunned and then Harry shrugged while Ron worked to understand why.

"And what of Rosa?"

"She is still upset. They did find out one attempt was definitely set up by her mother. The father was an active elder in the Ambrose family."

"Was? Wow."

"Yes Adam is furious. He still talking to my father about me being a part of the Ambrose family."

"And what about Marcel and I?"

"Dad will take me to different dimensions soon. I will talk him into allowing you both to come with us."

Both Evervine and Marcel's eye went wide.

"You think he will let us go?"

Hazel shrugged. "Of course he will. I am a traveler and we have to practice transporting. He doesn't know I can probably transport up to eight people now with Shyla's help, but he will think that three is reasonable at my power level."

Evervine nodded in understanding and Marcel's smile broadened. Hazel turned to the others.

"Once I pass dad's tests he will free me to practice and travel as I wish. Then I will be able to take everyone with me."

Hermione gasped. "Really. I would love to see other dimensions!"

"I will be in Hogwarts in the morning. I have to work in transfiguration, potions, charms, and divination." She rolled her eyes. "It feels like a child slave."

"You aren't getting paid."

"Yes I am getting paid but…" Hazel's eyes actually lit up. "… I will show all of you when I get it."

Hogwarts :

In Professor McGonagall 's transfiguration class there was a striking new addition. It was a bird. A bird like no one had ever seen. It had iridescent fathers that shimmered in tones of greens, pinks, and blues on its body, a plume of snowy white feathers crowning its head with a single one at the very top that was extra long and stood extra tall and tail feathers the color of fine sapphires and emeralds.

The bird sat, seemingly observing the class. When the students came to study it they spoke in hushed tones, thinking that they would need to transfigure into the bird. Only Hermione kept squinting at they beautiful beast. She looked to Harry.

"Do you think that bird is Hazel? I think that is Hazel."

Harry abruptly sat up and looked to the bird and it winked at him. His eyes went wide and he blinked several times. Just as he was about to say something Professor McGonagall came into the room.

"Everyone. I want you all to meet my daughter. She will be visiting with us for this last week before Christmas break,"

Everyone looked around as Professor McGonagall stood with her Lips and her eyes a bit unfocused. When she did not hear anyone exchanging salutations she fully opened her eyes and looked around.

"Hazel McGonagall that is enough. Say hello to everyone so that you can go to Professor Sprout's class and speak to them."

"Yes mother."

Everyone frowned and looked to the source of the response only to see the beautiful bird flutter up from its perch and descend. As it descended it became a beautiful girl with vibrant straight red hair and calm Hazel eyes. She looked around the room.

"I am Hazel McGonagall and I will try to help out a bit in transfiguration, potions, charms, and divination this week."

"Now she is interesting. I will definitely need to get to know her before I go on Christmas break." Harry frowned as he heard Draco Malfoy talk about wanting to know his sister.

The dreamscape:

"So how is Hogwarts?"

Hazel looked to her friend blankly for a moment. "Marcel you know that I have been there before right?" Marcel merely blinked and patiently waited. Hazel sighed. "I guess it is interesting. Oh you will love this. They actually have merpeople on campus."

"We do!?" Hazel, Hermione, Evervine, and Marcel all looked to Harry and Ron as one. Marcel's mouth was actually open because he was about to ask a question. Both Hazel and Hermione were he first to break from the moment and shook there heads.

"And the Defense against the dark arts teacher?"

"I think he is dangerous."

"You do?" This time Hermione joined Harry and Ron in their surprise. "Yes. Well maybe not. I sense that he is both weak and dangerous at the same time. Meaning he is cunning. I can not even force myself to trust him." She looked to Marcel.

"I forgot to tell you." She reached her hand out to her right and pulled something out of thin air and handed to Marcel. "They have a whomping willow. I asked it for a seed. We will have to research how to convince it to grow though. Professor Sprout said that they grow for different reasons for different people."

Marcel's eyes went round as saucers and he held the seed like it was the most fragile thing in the world.

The Christmas holiday began at Hogwarts and the four of them did research and spied on classmates. Hermione began to agree that the monster was a basilisks and they all began carrying mirrors around with them.

Hazel had brought Tan mandrake with her and given them to Professor sprout. Hers were more mature than Professor Sprout's but still not mature enough.

Hogwarts:

Harry, Hermione, and Ron decided to create poly juice potion to find out what Draco Malfoy was hiding about the heir of Slytherin. Hazel gave them a mild simple truth potion that would cause him to be in a receptive mood and answer questions without suspicion then she left to speak with Moaning Myrtle.

Hazel had her arms crossed and she was looking sternly at Myrtle.

"Don't look at me like that. I don't remember."

"You don't remember anything at all?! Is that truly possible? I have spoke to a lot of different types of spirits and ghosts and they all remember something."

"All I remember are beady eyes."

Hazel narrowed her eyes. "All you remember are beady eyes and then you were dead?"

Myrtle shrugged. "Yes."

"Where were you standing,"

"I was washing my hands."

Hazel turned to the round bank of sinks and began to fully examine it.
