Chapter 9 - Clearing

Alice drove for half an hour at her absurd speed, by that time I was able to regulate my breathing. The whole ride to the hiking trail she picked, Alice asked me all manner of questions. It started with simple ice breakers, what colours were my favorite part of the rainbow, do I enjoy going out... Then it descended into a series of odd questions on my thoughts about her family. Whether I pondered on their characteristics rather then their appearance. Until she asked a peculiar question.

"Peter do you think eternal life with my family would be fulfilling?" She looked towards my face analyzing my reaction.

"Eyes on the road Alice." I said without looking at her.

"Fine were almost there anyway." There was a hint of worry in her voice.

I took my eyes off the road for the first time this trip to gage her reaction. She was frozen still, only her hands on the steering wheel moved. The more I looked at her the more supernatural her appearance became. Alice didn't blink, if I wasn't fooled she wasn't breathing either. Her scent started to lure me in as if it called for me and I noticed how effortless her driving was, as if the world was slowed down for her.

At a frightening speed I was yanked foward by force from a sudden break. I caught myself forgetting how to breath for a second as I grasped for air.

Cheerfully Alice spoke, "we're here, hurry up Peter I don't want to carry you there."

Startled by her change in emotion I gazed at her tinted glasses trying to find out why. She flicked my forehead, "enough staring rabbit or else I'll do something neither of us would back out of."

She got out and I followed behind her. I was about to put those useless thoughts about Alice behind when she asked again, "well what do you think about spending the rest of your time with my family forever Peter? Or is that too soon?"

I furrowed attempting to find some kind of hidden meaning behind her words. My hand twitched slightly as if warning me about answering.

"Hurry up Peter, your leaving me on a cliffhanger here!"

I smiled, "for once I enjoy having the final say in a conversation."

She pinched my cheek, "this ain't the end of the conversation rabbit and it's impolite to leave a lady waiting."

"Fine, I don't even understand why you worded your question as you did but having known you for a few days, I can tell you meant every word. I could probably see myself sharing my life with you but Edward constantly there with us would mean I could never rid myself of Bella."

Despite making a terrible attempt at a joke her face turned sour, "just answer with a yes or no and Bella stays with me like a package deal. Can't be leaving my bestie to the wolves after taking her little brother."

I sighed, "ya life with the Cullens wouldn't be horrible. Afterall one evening with your family and you gave me clothes, on top of that I got my first kiss from you."

She raised her eyebrows, surprised at my response, "did I really steal your first kiss Peter?"

I blinked, a sudden impulse to tell her about what occurred to me came over me but I kept it down. My gaze turned away from hers, I was deep in thought as I spoke, "Alice, you have no idea how much that means to me."

We became silent after I spoke, while we walked on the trail she abruptly stood in front of me. Alice grabbed my jacket and pulled me towards her lips.

It lasted for a second before she ended it, "Peter I want you to meet my dad so you can gain his approval." Alice blurted out. I barely was able to register it when she pulled me in for another kiss.

She repeatedly ended them and kissed me again turning it into a series of pecks like she was a woodpecker. I was in a mixture of ecstacy and confusion while standing there like a deer in front of head lights.

It got to a point where I was grasping for air and I had to put my hand over my mouth to stop her, "Alice your driving me mad with the kisses. Please just listen this once and let me get a breath of air in before your next assault."

She frowned, annoyed with me, "I can't believe I'm the first woman love bombing didn't work with."

My eyes widened at the fact she was openly saying her game plan, "isn't that a red flag in a relationship Alice?"

She touched my cheek with her hand while rubbing my lips with her tumb, "more like an acquired taste rabbit." She leaned and whispered, "I wish you acquired a taste for my other lips."

I raisedmy hands and took a step backwards to distance myself from the predator in front of me, "Now your pushing it, I'm leaving for whatever destination we have planned." I began to walk away on the trail.

"Peter it's this way honey buns." There was a hint of amusement in her voice as she teased me relentlessly.

I pointed towards the area she mentioned, "ain't that off the path?"

She sighed irritated, "just do as told without questioning me for once Peter."

"Whatever 'dear'." I walked towards the unexplored path when she slapped my rear end, causing me to snap my face with a frown at her.

"Good boy." She grinned ear to ear, I rolled my eyes unable to maintain a frown as my face began to blush seeing her smile.

Once more I started to walk when Alice jumped on me for a piggyback, "first time riding you rabbit, don't let me down."

The double meaning in her tone was enough for me to just give up the fight and let her have the final say.

I began walking and she kissed my cheek, "never change Peter."

She started to hum as she pointed towards the path I had to follow. Every now and then I felt her breathe in my scent, however each time she did my hand twitched slightly.

Finally we got to our destination and I was shocked to see the state of it. The trees were destroyed by a force of nature, their trunks laid on the floor as if something annihilated them. It was if a sociopathic lumberjack decided to butcher this group of trees, enough so the sky could be seen.

Alice jumped down and grabbed my hand to follow her to the center where we layed down. It was around seven and the day started to darken. We were far enough into the forest that I started to grow paranoid that wolves would appear.

I glanced towards the darkness of near by bushes just in case when Alice took my hand, her cold touch gained my full attention, "Relax Peter I made sure to remove any unnecessary visitors from our date."

"I doubt a wolf could care less. Shouldn't we go back before we're unable to see ten feet in front of us?"

She layed next to me barely taking my words to mind when she rolled over me. Her arm and leg clutching my body still like a spider with her prey.

"We're not leaving until I say so. Just wait a minute or two then you'll thank me with a kiss."

"If I stay like this for a minute or two I'm gonna fall asleep on our date." I teased.

"Fine by me I'll wake you up when it happens."

She began to hum a tune that was soothing to hear when it came from her voice. I hugged her tightly trying to warm her up as I felt sleep start to take me. Unknowingly I went sleep to her hums despite the anxiety of a wolf appearing.

"Peter wake up, look up. Come on now your going to miss it."

"Hold on, when did I-damn meteors. Holy shit its a meteor shower Alice, you seeing this?"

I looked down towards my chest where she placed her head. Alice was gazing up, not to the stars but at me. Our eyes were locked and I saw the meteors shimmer in her eyes, even behind the tinted glasses. We were surrounded in darkness and yet Alice was like a star in my eyes, her beauty was magnificent. I pushed my upper body up, holding her tightly.

For a moment I hesitated, my thoughts warning me of what I was about to do however my left hand stayed still. I had a gut feeling that if I didn't have the courage now, nor will I ever. Slowly I raised my hands towards her glasses, my hands trembling yet not from the usual twitch.

Alice grabbed my hands when they grasped her glasses, "Peter are you sure? The last thing I want is for our date to end on a low note."

I rubbed my tumbs over her cheeks, caressing them gently, "I.." I took a breathe of air trying to control my fear and compose a sentence to convey my thoughts.

"Alice, I don't want to live by your side and see my nightmares in your eyes. All I want is, for at least a moment, to see the love you have for me reflect in your eyes."

Alice tightened her grip, "okay, but just believe me when I say that you mean everything to me love. Whether or not you can handle that is up to you." She gave me a sheepish smile as she teased me one last time.

I grinned in response then focused my attention on removing her glasses. It was a slow movement but strangely my hands stopped trembling as I took them off. Her tinted glasses were in my right hand and I held her face with my left one.

My eyes were stuck watching hers, the golden irises staring right me. For a moment that monster appeared but the stars dashing through the night washed him away in a golden shower. At the end I was able to see her golden eyes as the meteors in the sky reflected off them.

"Your like a treasure I can't live without Alice. I swear if I were blind I could mistake you for a magical fairy."

Alice chuckled, "I have a price you know?" She insinuated as she placed a finger over her lips.

From glee I smiled exposing my dimples and rejoiced with euphoria when her mouth opened in astonishment. I could tell she was blushing even from the lack of pigment.

"Your drooling pixie." I teased.

She raised her eyebrows in embrassment with a cute expression formed across her face, "no I'm not, I'm perfectly-"

Before she could retaliate I drew her into a passionate kiss. Our tongues fought to find each other until they entangled with one other. Neither of us pushed things further, all we wanted was to be embraced by one another. Pure bliss was what we felt as I held her hips, she wrapped her legs around mine as we sat on the ground. The exchange of saliva began to fill me with ecstacy and surprisingly Alice was the first to break the tension.

She was breathing heavily as she placed her forehead next to mine. We gazed at one others eyes with only an inch or two apart. There was a silent understanding that we both desired to explore each other's body further but a feeling in the air told us the night won't end.

Alice gave me one last kiss before she spoke, "rabbit, forgive me honey but I'm going to have to leave you with blue balls or else I'll break all the rules."

I moved in for another last kiss, "as long as I payed for my golden treasure I'm fine with the results."

She gave me one final kiss, "as long as you polish me later anything goes honey."

Once more I gave her a last kiss, "agreed but I have a price too."

Another final kiss from Alice as she spoke, "at this rate your final price will be dirt cheap rabbit."

I chuckled as I kissed her one last time, "probably but you'd be the only buyer anyway."

She gave me a final peck on the lips "whats the price for the rabbit then Peter?" She teased.

"A promise." I said after kissing her for the last time.

Alice tilted her head, "fine I'll bite, what is it?"

I grabbed her hands, glancing down to them. I spoke in a shy nervous manner, "when...when you want to move on to the next step, you know do the deed. Can you tell me before hand, so I can prepare, I know it's stupid and odd for a man. Something like that is more of in the 'mood' type of thing but I just don't want to freeze when it occurs."

Alice clutched my chin, aligning it with hers so we could see eye to eye, "I told you before Peter, I will never hurt you. That goes without saying, anything you don't want to do, I won't push-" She rolled her eyes pondering, "well within a reasonable time limit, as you can tell it's hard for me to keep my hands off you honey." She teased.

All I could give her was a sheepish smile to which she gave me one last kiss. When it ended I found it in my heart that I could trust her with anything. Perhaps it was foolish to believe full heartily in a person I've know for a few weeks. Yet when I look at Alice, it was like I saw someone who understood it, the pain and trauma.

I tightened my hands around hers, "Alice, would you like to know why I fear-feared you eyes?"
