Chapter 31 - Cosy

Zara and Kai went at it like rabbits. So bad that in the morning, they were both drained from the ordeal.

"That was some night we had." Kai said, as he lay exhausted and naked on the silk sheets.

Zara giggled quite a bit. "Don't tell me the boss himself is exhausted." She teased.

"Oh please. As if your legs aren't shaking."

Zara looked down, and her legs vibrated with a slight tremor. She wasn't even sure if she was going to be able to walk.

"Someone might not be able to go home today." Kai chuckled as he stared at her shaking legs.

But Zara hadn't planned to move anywhere after all that madness.

"Lucky for you, I don't feel like going anywhere."

"Too bad, babe. Because you'll have to." Kai responded with a smirk.

Zara raised the upper half of her body to rest in a sitting position, propping her head up with her elbows. Her bare boobs dangled frantically as she found a comfortable position.

Kai but his lip at the sight, and Zara snapped her fingers in his face.

"You know I'm not going another round with you before you break me in half, right?"

Kai feigned a sad face, and Zara rolled her eyes.

"But that's beside the point. What did you mean by what you said earlier, about me having to move?"

Kai took in a deep breath.

"After you left yesterday my dad was quite furious. And given that you also needed to meet my other colleagues too, we decided to push it to today." Kai explained.

Zara cringed inwardly.

"Do I have to go?" She asked in an exasperated tone.

"I'm sorry. I don't want to force you or anything, but that's how things work around here. I finally have someone by my side to handle the Frost empire and legacy with. Of course, there's going to be a lot of formalities. You're a noble yourself, so you should be used to it."

"I know—", Zara conceded, "it's just that your father didn't seem like he liked me very much. Same with everyone else." Zara said.

"Yeah I get that. My father's very unusual." Kai replied.

"He acts cold even to me, his son, but I promise you that he's not like that. You'll get to meet him in his comfort zone, don't you worry, and maybe then, you'll see for yourself."

Zara sighed inwardly. She did not respond truthfully because she didn't have anything to say, and it didn't seem like there was much to it.

The truth was that she was actually scared. Scared of the dark dangers of the world of the gang leader. She knew that he was into all kinds of shady things, but she wasn't sure which ones were which just yet.

Nevertheless, she agreed within herself.

"So, you coming?" Kai pressed.

Zara turned to him, a smile playing across her lips.

"Of course, I am." She responded after a moment of silent deliberation. Kai's world was dangerous, but the world that she had found herself in was also dangerous.

She hadn't wanted to get immersed in the flames just yet, like she was back with the Blakes. But she figured that if she was to be in a fire, it would be better if she could control it.

And that was what Kai's world meant for her.

Meanwhile, Kai had put on some clothes: a tight-fitting inner vest that gripped his muscles, making his physique bulge through the thin fabric, and simple grey sweatpants.

He turned to Zara, the soft beddings intertwined around her naked body.

"I'll whip up something for us. Just have your rest."

"Oh, so the trillionaire can cook? I didn't think you ever neared the kitchen."

Kai crossed his arms across his chest and gave her a discouraging look, like a teacher disapproving of their student's actions.

"You insult me, Zara, but I'll accept your impudence for just this once."

He continued as Zara kept laughing.

"You actually have a master chef in your hands. Just wait and let me cook, literally."

Kai quickly dashed out of the grand room. After about ten minutes, he came back with a golden tray filled with breakfast delicacies.

There were well-made pancakes slightly dusted with powdered sugar and crowned with a dollop of vanilla bean-cream. There were also freshly baked croissants, and scrambled eggs, with bite-sized sourdough tartines and caramelised onion and gruyère.

Right by the side of the tray was a chill jug of orange juice and two glasses.

Zara's mouth watered at the sight.

"Damn. You weren't kidding." She expressed with satisfaction.

"You sure you didn't hire a cook last-minute to get this done?" Zara teased.

"You really don't rate me, huh?" Kai said as he plunked down onto the bed.

They both shared the meal, and Zara was impressed. The meal was everything a breakfast could be, and much more.

"Hope you enjoyed it?" Kai asked as they wrapped up with the meal.

"Honestly, you could do better." Zara said condescendingly as she dabbed her mouth with a napkin.

"I was just joking. It's amazing, Kai." She said as she hugged him.

"You're a much better cook than I'll ever be that's for sure." She concluded.

But Kai didn't seem to be following anymore.

"What was that you called me?"

Zara thought for a moment, before letting out a sigh as she realised what he was playing at.

Ugh. He wants me to call him babe. Zara thought within herself.

But I don't have to act like I know what he's talking about.

She thought once more, and a cheesy idea came to mind.

"What are you talking about?" She asked.

"We promised each other yesterday that we'd call each other 'babe'" Kai said blankly.

"Did we?" Zara faked ignorance.

"I don't quite remember." She continued.

Kai only stared at her for a while, and Zara felt uneasy under his icy gaze.

Then out of nowhere, he jumped on her, securing her elbows behind her.

"Maybe this would jog your memory."

"Kai, STOP!" Zara screamed as she lost herself to a fit of laughter. Kai's rough fingers found it's way to her ribs, wiggling and poking at the sensitive flesh, and Zara squirmed and shook like electrocuted fish.

"Please, you know I'm very ticklish—" She kept laughing and shaking, trying to release her arm from behind her to give her a fighting chance, but Kai was too strong.

"Nah I don't know anything." Kai smirked, clearly enjoying himself.

"The same way you don't. Remember?"

Through the laughter, Zara could see very well that she had been outplayed. She might've overshared he tickle-spot to Kai yesterday while they were having a good time.

"Okay fine, I'll call you babe. Just stop." Zara began to scream wildly, a never ending stream of laughter shaking her organs. Tears formed at her eyes. At this rate, she was worried her heart would give out having to pump all that blood and energy.

"Call me babe now." Kai demanded, letting his grip falter on her wrist, and Zara took her chance.

In one swift move, she flipped him over and pinned him down. Her fingers clamped gently around his throat.

"You know I would've preferred if you'd done this last night." Kai said with his usual smirk.

"You're just—" Zara didn't even know what to say. She had won their little game and what he was thinking of was sex.

Men.

"You lose, and I win." Zara said triumphantly.

"You know I can just flip back under right?" Kai said as his eyes lit up with a mischievous glint.

Before Zara knew what was happening, Kai grabbed her by the shoulder, and in one quick manoeuvre, they had switched positions.

"Maybe I didn't bang you hard enough last night." Kai whispered in her ear.

"Ugghh Kai I can barely walk. Do you want to cripple me?" Zara asked, sarcasm laced in her tone.

But Kai had already started peeling away at her clothing and peppering her body with gentle kisses.

"Don't worry. I'm rich. You won't have to walk."

He said with a grin as he dived once more into her breasts.

"Oh Kai—" Zara weakly tried to resist her pleasures.

BZZ! BZZ!

Her phone vibrated from under her pillow.

"I've got to take this. It could be Bertha."

Kai groaned and reluctantly scooted over so she could take her phone call.

But when Zara picked up her phone to look at the screen, she saw a name she hadn't quite expected—at least not so soon.

[Calling]

[Diego Vasquin]
