Chapter 5 - The opening of the game

By the end of the first month everything had calmed down. Students knew which classrooms to go to, where everything was and their schedules.

Everyone was to have homeroom in the morning, 3 periods of classes , lunch, tutoring with the Riders and then would each be expected to go and train in their profession, which were taught by your mentors. Though you only had classes with the Riders 2 times a week ( you attended your normal classes every other day)You were expected to train at Stellarlor for 7 years before you are allowed to pursue your career. Though you would sometimes be sent to learn directly from the environment you were going into or given missions to complete. As well as special exams that are crucial to overcome if you want to stay at Stellarlor .

You have all completed your first month at Stellarlor! complimented Mr Stratford.

As you all have probably heard, either from friends or pears , every year all of our first years are expected to take a written exam before the end of the second month. This is to check your progress and assign class rankings. Every time there is a major exam or task you will compete with the other classes to earn class points. The class with the most points will earn special privileges during your time in the school. The points can also be traded away for things but needs a majority vote from the class. They can even be used to swap classmates , thought it hasn't been done very much. For this reason I advise you to try and earn as many points as possible.

Now for the exam.

The subjects you will be tested on are Math , Science, Geography, The ancient language, classical languages , History and you are to write an 5000 word essay on what you have studied in your classes with your mentors. You will need to get over 40% to pass.

Your exams will be on this day in 3 weeks.

As Mr Stratford dismissed the class, the class broke out into a fit of chatter and whispers.

A small group of 4 sat huddled in the back row of the classroom.

So we knew the exam was coming . muttered Alissa . All we have to do is get through it. We've been preparing for it for the past month. Not too sure if everyone else has though.

Well we have a way of finding out what's coming next. It's a big advantage, even if some of the rest have siblings in this school we don't know how much information they have from them. Retorted Aren . It's probably better to try and get the class to work together though. Then we can be ready for future scenarios. This time it's just a test but we don't know what this school has in store for us. There aren't many patterns so it's hard to guess what's coming next.

Well enough about the future , focus on class . We do have a test coming up. Sighed Rayne. He looked at Maya.

So what's our strategy? This exam is probably crucial if we want to get a head start on class points.

Your right. They've starting to make their move. So we will too. We need to take control of the board before anyone else realises the true value of this exam and what it will mean in the future.

So what do you plan to do ?

Im going to make this class the queen of the board. So unstable that no one else can dare compete. Using this exam, I want to get every point I can from here. That will be our advantage in the future. I'll lead the class through it if I have to. I'll make sure we graduate as the top class in our year. That is what is expected from us in the end.

I know you can hear me Moony .

I can.

Then try to establish a law of order with the other dragons. If they will accept you as their leader then it will be easier for me. I know. I may only be a hatchling but I am still your dragon. And I your rider.

It is our destiny to lead . For know one will match us in knowledge or in will.

Then let us fly into the unknown and emerge victorious of the challenges ahead. And of the danger that lurcks just out of sight.
