Chapter 57 - Pairs

Basla's eyes were more than sharp enough to see through the darkness of the shadows in the corner of his room, where a person too large for the room stood. He reached for the dagger on the stand he had been about to kick.

"There's no need for that. I'm just here to talk," The man said, taking a step forward, putting his glossy, orange, and black striped fur on display. He held up his hands in a show of peaceful intent.

Basla could tell. It didn't matter whether he grabbed the dagger or not. He didn't stand a chance. The man in front of him was a warrior from the Asa tribe.

"W-what do you want?" Basla asked, trying to quell the tremors of his mouth.

"A chat," The man said.

Basla nodded. He could do a chat.

"Good." The man nodded and smiled, sending chills down Basla's spine.
