Catherine's POV
"I'm sorry for intruding, I'm so sorry, I thought you were someone I knew," I heard a familiar voice just by the other stand of the entrance.
I flinched.
I know that voice. That's Rick!
Surprised, I stopped in my tracks and squinted slightly in that direction.
My mouth dropped open.
It was indeed Rick. But what was he doing in Italy? I wondered, my thoughts racing. I stayed frozen where I was.
"That's not a problem," the voice of the lady snapped me out of my thoughts.
And then I heard footsteps approaching. I knew undoubtedly it was Rick.
My heart tightened.
I quickly turned and stumbled away in the opposite direction. Just at the other end of the hallway, he walked past me.
His steps increasingly faster. Loud and purposeful. Like he was running from something.
Without looking back, I hurried over to the director's office to submit the file I was asked to deliver. After finishing there, I rushed out of the hospital towards my car.
